Could always do like a buddy and I did once. I have 2 buds in real life that also play Hunter's. One got this cute SB and the other wanted him. No idea why, the green Devilsaur is miles cuter... Anyway, same issue with morons wanting to spoil the tame.

Our idea of a fix :

He yells when pretty cat spawns, I run down with Shadow Priest PvP flagged and levitate right down on the heads of anyone of other faction. Now, same faction azzes is a bit tougher. Once a guy on our faction killed a tame and I proceeded to follow him around being " helpful "... Hugging, kissing, flirting, healing... You know being a nice guy for all his help killing that nasty mob being tamed by my bud... I think I may have given that poor mage a complex in the end, but he got the point. Killing a hunter's tame equals bad karma...

Ya, it happens. =( I had the same thing happen with King Krush. I was watching him waiting for a hunter friend of mine to fly over to tame him, when a druid that saw me hovering over him swooped down and killed him.

The truly sad part is that I have warned off other Horde players even when Alliance Hunter's are working on a tame simply because I know the pain they're enduring... War might be Hell and we're on different factions, but the tame by-passes those preset boundaries to me...

I've never gone out of my way to kill a tame, on any alt. On any side. For any faction. I just find it a horrible thing to do. I mean I love seeing lowbies tame pets, and I've even helped people tame them by sheeping or sleeping a mob. Even Aria does and she doesn't exactly have the highest level hunter alts out there [30s atm]

^ This. When it comes down to hunter tames, I will always stop to help someone, regardless of faction. It's an unwritten bond, you know? Unless they were someone who really deserved it (aka griefing and being an ass), I can't even fathom doing something like killing the beast that they are in the middle of taming. I know what it's like camping for hours on end, I would never want to be the cause of that sort of heartbreak.

Same to me on my 19hr vacation in Sholazar; 10hrs in Krush spawns I flub the tame but still had him tagged as mine, guildie flies in just as I see a Hunter Mark go up on Krush & boom Krush's dead by someone of my own faction nonetheless; & his reasoning "I need the kill for Frostbitten."

There's a poster on WoW official forums who admitted that he kills rares and pets being tamed just to spite hunters who like to tame rare pets.

Some people have issues I guess.

I actually ran into this problem once and I was quite frustrated after it happened. I was saving Mazzranache for a guildie of mine that wanted her and before she got there (she had to take Mulgore the hard way through the Barrens. This was before the zeppelin to Mulgore was around), a lowbie tauren hunter came in and killed the bird. You can bet both me and my guildie were flustered. Second time though, I was able to hold Mazz again long enough for the guildie to come and tame her. Since Mazz was attacking me while I was waiting, I decided to take off my armor just so I wouldn't lose any durability and I would use the Freezing Trap every now and then. I was happy she was happy she got the pink bird that she ended up naming it Fiesta.

Ugh, that thread is making me fume. I really feel bad for the opening poster. Dear god some of the repliers are just complete asses, or don't seem to get it.

This is one reply coming from a hunter of all people:

I've had Arc stolen from me two times before.

First time was Alli, okay so I was pissed and got over it.

Next time, I wasn't so nice. Freaking BOT kills him (had no pet, only used AUTO SHOT to tag him) and then proceeded to whack him down with auto attack.
WTF.

Next person who steals him from he is gonna get ripped a new one (as in, I will personally make an alli character if an alliance does it, name it fyou, and bitch them out till they block me).

I'm actually on that guys side a bit. Rares are rather pointless. Fun for sure, but rather pointless. Raids during that timeframe would most likely have landed him with better gear. I hate rarecamping myself, I feel like I could be doing much better things. Having a nice pet for dailies/showing off in town is nice tough. Still, the point of rarecamping isn't the topic, it's the killing/extortion. Which is bad. Really bad.

When my Gondria (server second spawn or something) spawned, I was exalted. Until a mage swooped down, killed it, and said "respec and go raid idiot". I found a nice use for my Dwarf at that point. Dressed him up in a frayed robe and chased the mage around while flirting and kissing. I think he got the point in the end.

I'm a bit surprised to hear you say that Saturo. That sort of just encompasses that ignorance of 'Raiding is the only way to play the game, it is the best way to play, it is the reason to play. Nothing else matters.' I mean, being on this forum I'd assume it's pretty clear that not everyone puts the same importance on different aspects within WoW. I would fully camp a pet that I wanted badly enough for 7 days, and raiding/whatever could go rot in a corner. Those sorts of things do not take priority over pets for me, and I think they don't for the opening poster either. Perhaps he doesn't care about end game at all. Maybe spending 7 days running dungeons and raiding would feel like a waste of time to him when he could be out gaining the pet of his dreams?

It's fine if that one particular replier felt those seven days were a waste if that were him, but to bluntly and rudely call someone out and say that the way they choose to spend their game time is worthless? It disgust me.
