Re: The 10 hunter commandents for ingame.
Nice, but I play on a PVP server, and If I see an ally trying to tame a rare, I would rather the rare die than the filthy Ally get it!

Re: The hunters guildelines
Also going to add.. please dont fight.. friendly discussions only. Lets keep it the drama away, I know people have strong opinions about things especially rares and what nott but I dont want to see anyone getting hurt or so angry steam comes out of the ears. Its not.. fun.
Oh and putting out a sign: Feed your pets, not the trolls.

Sucks to hear about that. Some people are just "not that smart". But I feel that for being a petopian member on these forums, there should be certain guidelines that one should adhere to.Sasrei wrote:and this mage didnt read the golden rule. He asked me if I was going to tame it, I said my hunter friend was going to so he.. I thought backed off. Apparently he was hitting it while my friend was kiting to. My friend almost got him but died at the last second. Mage comes and kites him to death, frost mage who knows it drops 25g only. He tried to kill anthriss a few times and died, so I told him that all the rares in molten front only drop 25g. My friend rezzed but we couldnt do nothing.. tried to MD *sigh* really? hes a gnome to.. that made it so much worse. Solix.. is more hunter that I thought.. he hates frost mages to.
For instance taming a new rare spawn and then consecutively killing that said rare spawn over and over again to make sure no one else can have it.... shouldn't be allowed on these forums

You obviously missed the point...
One other thing you don't realize is that if you kill a rare so that a Ally or Horde doesnt tame it, you're only prolonging the process of you or another hunter on your side from getting that rare. Let them tame it if they were there first, and then you'll have one less camper to fight over the rare.
Right now on my server there are usually between 4-5 hunters waiting for Skarr or the crab up on the ledge (say 5 for this example). If I go around and kill Skarr when I see him since I wasnt the one taming, that number isn't going to decrease, its going to stay at 5 +1 (me). If I let that person tame it, the pool of hunters going for it drops to 4.
Kill rares just because its the "enemy" just adds bad karma into your server. You're just contributing to bad behavior and grieving

I completely get the point, and I understand where you're coming from. My biggest gripe with the 'lets all get along and everyone get's what they want' mentality, is that it is counter-intuitive with the lore of the game, and the mechanics of a PVP server.Royi wrote:yourhero88 wrote:Nice, but I play on a PVP server, and If I see an ally trying to tame a rare, I would rather the rare die than the filthy Ally get it! While letting the ally hunter may increase my chances of getting Skarr (who I incidentally just lost a few hours ago to an ally who snuck up behind me after I had been camping all morning, and tamed before I could stand up and ready my first volley to get Skarr's attention) It also lets the allies win, and harbors a sense of unity between Alliance and Horde, which the new Warchief is staunchly in opposition to. All hail Garrosh!

Edit: Also, not trying to troll, just offering a dissenting opinion and spicing up the conversation!

Re: The hunters guildelines
On a pvp server I get the whole "see other faction must kill" but during a tame I still think its kinda rude. Thats my opinion really but past experiences have showed what goes around comes around. Id rather one less person camping that having to worry about killing him or the rare, and his guildies coming to back him up. Atleast with one less person camping it makes it easier for you to not have griefing especially since that hunter will remember you.. and tell his friends. Atleast I remember all my griefers but that doesnt surprise me.. I forget simple things like passwords, where I put stuff that i justt had a second ago but if you killed a rare on me or my friend or stole it.. Ill remember. Go figure.

I guess my view on PVP is that, PVP really should be about glorious battle, epic fights, duels and such.yourhero88 wrote:I completely get the point, and I understand where you're coming from. Whereas interfering with a tame feels rather cheap and tawdry to me, like killing opposite faction quest givers or flight masters.
Just my 0.2

PVPing or fighting each other over a rare spawn is perfectly fine on a PVP realm to fight over the tame, just killing the pet to "SPITE" the other doesn't make any sense. Dont make the pet pay for your grudge against each other.
Maybe a quick quote from this should be:
Kill the player, not the pet

I'm from a PvP server too and take the exact opposite standpoint. I would rather see the rare tamed by either faction than killed (not that anyone's killing Kirix, but that's a side point). No one wins that way.yourhero88 wrote:Nice, but I play on a PVP server, and If I see an ally trying to tame a rare, I would rather the rare die than the filthy Ally get it!

Re: The hunters guildelines
I should say that I never have killed a pet out from under an Ally, however if they tried to steal my tame, I would think nothing of killing the pet to spite them.
Generally it's easier to sabotage them (like ice trapping the stones on the way up to the haste buff rock
)
Still, I like the rivalry.

Re: The hunters guildelines
Well, I play a troll, and the trolls are not entirely on board with Garrosh's "New Horde" (to say the least). Plus, by the time a character is level 85, they're a veteran. Mindala remembers Thrall's Horde and its high ideals of peaceful cooperation when possible. She remembers that Thrall befriended those nominally his enemy. Besides, she's fought alongside the Alliance; as a veteran of the Northrend campaign, if nothing else.
So, yes, it's completely feasible in-character for a Horde player to not want to kill all Alliance. Just those that meet her with sword already raised and a battle-cry on their lips; those she will kill and not hesitate in doing so.

Re: The hunters guildelines
If someone tries to steal your tame with skarr scattershot and move back. Let skarr deal with them, believe me he will. You can also trap and do a ton of damage in a safer distance from those balls. Then heal up and tame it yourself. Depending on where he spawned its a long way back and even if he does rez there he will still have low enough health to die if he tries something. If anything people on the pvp server can do so much more then on a pve server, all I can do is watch while someone steals my tame. You can atleast do something, and why not kill them instead.. skarr will do more then enough damage to them. And atleast you dont lose out on the rare you tried to get.
However this applies only to people who try to steal your tame, if they are taming first, I would rather let them tame it then have to deal with an angry hunter.

Moderation note: After consideration, the discussion about how these suggested guidelines apply to PvP are interesting and valuable. I only removed a tiny bit of one post that stepped over into 'a little too spicy'. Please do remember to keep the discussion focused on the guidelines, however, and be careful to stay respectful of other posters. Thank you.

Re: Suggested Hunter Guidelines
Quite frankly, killing a rare from under someone seems remarkably counterproductive because it means you now have a pissed off competitor who might bring buddies.
My own personal honor code:
1) Horde is being mean/rude and is flagged? On like donkey kong.
2) Horde in BG? Also on.
3) Horde taming? Leave alone or help.

Re: Suggested Hunter Guidelines
This is completely unreasonable!7. Please be mindful of campers and npcscanner. Ok no I am not saying you cant have your pet out, but if you know your in a spawn point or area just be kind enough to dismiss it. And please do not trip up scanners on purpose to see someone jump. I know some people like to show that they arent there camping it but still it gives a heart attack. And makes for having to delete cache and did I mention the heart attack. Though I know you love that Magria you just got if you could use something else while doing the regrowth dailies that would be great! I know people like to show off the special pets they have just be mindful of the area you do it in.

This is actually becoming a game of sorts on my server. The same hunters keep loitering around tripping npc scans for funsies and they admit doing so. And when one person does it(ESPECIALLY the stackers) everryyyoneee does it. We've got Karkins and Deth's and Skarrs and Solix's all over the damn place and everyone rages. Its a huge pile of douche hunters and a rare pet pile.
And urgh the heart attack does indeed suck...especially if you're not actually at your pc camping most the time.

Re: Suggested Hunter Guidelines
Unfortunately it does happen alot, though I understand people wanting to have their pet out just be mindful of the area. Like say your doing the regrowth dailies, use some other pet other then magria/ankha or Bann. All the rare spiders have a specific spot they spawn so just be mindful of the area. I saw it happen ALOT with skarr/karkin.. apparently its "fun" to freak out people, and then make them sad because they got excited about a rare they have been camping for. That one was mostly for the "musical hunters" who like to trigger npcscanner on purpose. Its kinda why I dont have any of the spiders up on npcscanner, so many people use them in molten front I just gave up on that idea

Re: Suggested Hunter Guidelines
I so love this post it made me feel so much better. Last night i had a horde hunter kill Deth while i was trying to tame and then today I had a shaman and Warlock do the same. I think everyone needs to read these guideline I fell it would make some servers alot more fun if the did and followed them like the rest of us.
