So I wait. And I wait. And ... wait some more! Thankfully I have a DS to keep me occupied. Eventually Anthriss appears! Kills me the first time or two. Just as I start to get it down, along came a paladin.
Others had been cheering for me and I felt completely grateful. But the paladin quickly made short work of poor Anthriss (although he himself died in the process. Enjoy your repair bill I guess) despite us begging him not to kill him and offering money. He even laughed at us. Well, whatever. Haters gonna hate. I'm crushed. I give up on rares for awhile and hang out. Solix popped a bit later, but went splat. :/ D'oh.
I was really feeling kinda bummed now.
But! I ended up bumbling onto other spiders and am quite grateful for all the help in getting them. I <3 them very much. For some reason I still run circles to check on people/spawns. I have no idea why.
So I decide one day after seeing someone else get Anthriss... I still want my Bananarchy Spider. I also recalled I have a second hunter (my inscription alt. Recycling heirlooms ftw). I decided that I can appreciate and love both spiders - one on each hunter! Common, rare? All are awesome.
So about 2PM, 6 hours after the second server reset, I park. I've got Harvest Moon, Plants vs. Zombies and Pokemon Black (irony I know). I'm ready to rock this spawn spot. I fend off giants, lavabursters and watch people quest. I answer questions in general and hang about. I began to wonder if I'd missed a spawn. I also used eagle eye every so often to check for Skarr and to see how people were doing/what was spawning.
It took 15 hours after reset (!) for shy Anthriss to make an appearance. She really is a bit shy, but given where she spawns I can't blame her. I wish she would find a new spot or trade with Kirix (for giggles). I had a mage eyeballing me as it was. I'd seen two Skarrs, and one of every other spider this Saturday. I tagged her, bolted into the lava, chugged a haste potion, hit life bloom and deterrence then tamed while swimming in the lava. A few moments later I heard that oh so lovely BWOOOSH noise and Anthriss was now my buddy!
Yeah, it's a bit dorky but I felt bad I'd just given up after one griefing attempt.
Anthriss was the first rare I really wanted out of MF. Was I really gonna let some meanbad paladin chase me off? I think not.
