Re: The end of an era...goodbye old friend
A new mouse we'd gotten bit her nose, and since she was already rather old for a mouse, she didn't fight the virus that infected her as well as a younger mouse would've. At first it stopped bleeding and I thought everything was ok, but then she accidentally opened it again somehow. It wouldn't stop bleeding because, well, mice have this urge to clean any messy fur. In this case, the nose was making her nose feel messy, so she kept rubbing it and rubbing it and wouldn't let it heal. And we couldn't stop her.
The next day (because it was night when it was happening, and the vets nearby were closed) we took her to the vet, and he said very plainly that she wouldn't live much longer. She was very horrible looking (will not describe for you >.<) and the vet wanted to put her down, and asked me what I wanted to do.
Of course, I couldn't let her suffer, but to kill her? I was horrified, but I finally said yes. And then I had to say good-bye. It was awful.
Afterwards you can probably presume what I did/felt like the rest of the day.

Sorry to kinda derail. Just suddenly felt the urge to share this experience ._.

Re: The end of an era...goodbye old friend

I know how upsetting it is to lose a pet. All you can really do is take comfort in the fact that you gave him a good life.
