6 Ban tries, 6 failures but a consolation...

Background... I have every pre-4.2 Spirit Beast plus Aotona, Terrorpene, Jadefang, King Krush, Sambas, Green Madexx, that blue beetle... pretty much everything. I've never lost a rare tame.

But I've seen Ban 3 times now, and have tried and failed 6 different tames with something different wrong each time. I have a parachute cloak and have timed it where I hit just before the ground and am able to drop my trap, but I am moonfired dead before he gets to it.

After two failed taming attempts last night and reviving to find someone else with their new bird (that I kited to them) - I got fed up and zoned to Storm Peaks and does everyone see where this is going???

It wasn't the bird I set out for but I'm satisfied with the days hunting expedition...

WoW sorry about the luck with Ban but like you I think that's one heck of a consolation prize. Gratz!!!

Thanks, I certainly can't complain about the games rarest rare. Especially since I was kinda bummed about TLPD because I flew right by it in the first 5 minutes I was in that zone long ago and I didn't know what it was. I had just read there was a cool rare there but thought no, that brown bird wasn't it... I thought twice and went back but couldn't find him. That's like losing a winning lotto ticket to the wind.

But as for Ban, let's up that to 4 sightings and 8 tries now.

This time I got him trapped but my tame kept getting interrupted. I'm essentially just pulling him to other people to steal from me with my parachute cloak, time to sit in the tree I guess. On the other side, I have yet to see either of the cats. I think I spent all my luck on TLPD.

Finally...

I started out sitting on top of the tree and messed up somehow, got another chance and was killed again, the third attempt I just dropped from sky with the parachute cloak and tried the ground tame that has failed so many times before - fully expecting to be killed again - but I banged my head on the keyboard this time and when I looked up, he was somehow trapped and being tamed.

Now I can finally enjoy the other bird I got from this long drawn out Ban'thalos stalking.

The parachute isn't as cut and dried as it seems, it took a lot of tries to get him trapped as he would generally kill me before he got to it.
