...Meet the level 15
Black Bear of Dun Morogh. This is, I think, one of the harder-to-get pets out there for any lowbie hunter.
No, I'm not joking! See, these guys can only be found in an inaccessible* mountainous valley.
* Except if you can fly... or are REALLY good at mountain-climbing.
I was on my new lowbie hunter, Ochre. Ochre's a hardcore little worgen hunter I made recently on an Rp-PvP realm. I love the concept of worgen, and the appearance of human females,
although I utterly despise the female worgen model and skins, which I think are absolutely horrifically done. I won't go into her full tale here, but basically she was a Gilnean forester/forest ranger, patrolling the woods for poachers, keeping an eye on the state of the wildlife and the health of the trees, and helping to care for the service's kennel of Gilnean Mastiffs.
Her pets, then, are forestry-type pets--a handful of wolves and worgs thus far, a fjord crow, a lynx, a surprise-tame that I love with her (Tracker), and even Humar the lion as well as a couple of Mastiff dogs (including her starter pet named Coal).

Ochre and Tracker
I had realized while messing about in Loch Modan (getting her a bobcat) that I kind of wanted a bear, just to have a tenacity pet. I also realized that the black bears would probably look quite good with her--but I was bored, so I wanted a challenge, not just any black bear. I did a quick Petopia search; there's a few rare black bears, and one marked "Can only be reached by flying."
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
I remember back before flying in Azeroth that it was quite possible, using a certain place in Loch Modan, to get onto the mountains above Ironforge--including the Ironforge Airport, the Gates of Ironforge and even the peak of what I've heard billed as the highest point in Eastern Kingdoms. I set off at once, and after about ten minutes of trying in the wrong place, I realized my mistake and made my way into the peaks.
Here's the route:

And here we are making our way there:

The "highest peak in Eastern Kingdoms," (I can't verify that) which is marked with a flag, patrolling guards and a few tools:

Eventually me & Tracker made our way down past Ironforge's gates, and down the northern slopes of Dun Morogh; it was really tricky at times, and I scouted quite a bit with Eagle Eye to ensure I wouldn't trap myself. There are, on the layered steppelike slopes beneath the mountains, now dwarven Sledders. They slide down now and then, and then drag their sleds back to the top!

Eventually, I found the right place. NPC Scan picked up the bears (which I'd added about a half an hour earlier--yes, it takes a LONG time to run here on foot!):

I dropped down into the camp, and found what Wain and, I think, Kurasu described when it was first found: A couple of dwarves stuck up a tree while Momma Bear and her two cubs relaxed at the dwarves' campfire/tent. Another black bear patrolled about, and a third was on the trunk of the tree, keeping the stick-wielding dwarves trapped.

Well, I wasn't about to take a mother bear from her cubs, so I figured I'd do the dwarves a favor...

Amusingly enough, after being tamed the bear simply stayed in the tree. I tried to mount, and to command him to move, but no dice.

Eventually I simply dismissed him and recalled him. So, here I am with my new pet:

I think this guy is a REAL challenge for any lowbie; it took a good half hour/forty minutes just to get to him, and let me tell you, ONE slipup and you're graveyard-ressing

I recommend that anyone with a low-level alt looking for a challenge give this a shot!
...Now, I just need a name for him!
