I happened to run across these today and tamed one. I'm not sure if I'm keeping it, though. I don't feel anything for it yet. I did like having a big green spider though.

I'm not a spider person but I'm liking both my green Dahmán and yellow NotAnthriss (who I tamed just because I needed to tame SOMETHING). I'm still going for the challenge-tames, cuz that's one of the things being a hunter is about (for me).

BTW, the lil green jobbies were up on Mok'Nathal again this morning after normal restart and they were up all day yesterday. The server just went down for the rolling restart so we'll see if they're still up after that. And I'm now into the next phase of the dailies, going with the Druids of the Flame quests first. (my priestess will be following the Shadow Wardens line).

UPDATE: after the rolling restart this morning, the Clutchkeepers are now up.

Cool - I'd suspected the rolling restarts would act as a reset.

Since I tamed mine, I haven't seen the little guys pop up again over here on Elune.

They are related to the phased area of the Shadow Wardens. The Clutchkeepers are nowhere to be seen, and instead, this little spiders appear every 5 minutes or so, probably less since I kept running into them.
Tamed one just to see if I like the feeling, so far nothing... Still preferring Deth'kastel

I was led to believe there was no real link to anything else or any trigger. It's just a 50% chance thing. If you don't see them one day just be patient and come back the next.

They spawned again today on Anvilmar.
I believe if you can believe out of nothing an explosion (big bang) happened then how far fetched can god be?

So i herby vote the achieve: "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" to be renamed: 20,000 Quests under the Sea!

these are finaly up on Altar of storms =D
when these are up you cant miss em. only one group up at the time i dident stay for long but noted one popular spawn spot for the groups. the rock perfectly east. they would start there go behind the blasted dying NE rock then follow the edge then down into the pit, there they stick around for 20-30 sec before despawning. then a new group would come around.
also saw em spawn on the gravejard was gonna follow them but got to close and they all attacked.

All day yesterday the spiders were spawning really all the time, today though the big green spiders were only spawning, think it depends on the day tbh

I did make enquiries about people not seeing either mob up...

Apparently either one or the other should be on any given day. If people aren't seeing either, all I can guess is that it's either a glitch or clutchkeepers are up but are being killed quickly and you're unlucky in managing to spot one. The clutchkeepers appear in far lower numbers than the broodlings.

Was running around on my hunter on Agamaggan EU for these little things. Earlier on my Beast Lore I've got Untameable notice on even the runners. (though that was probably when I unlocked the wardens and just went around the place)
Today, while sadly watching a human mage solo Deth, I saw the running broodlings but couldn't manage to tab target, because I was secretly hoping the mage would fail his kiting and get nommed. (blizz response to pvp server hunter pet griefing - l2pvp -_- so I don't even bother to try deth ever *pets kirix who ate many silly hordies and alliance players who tried to fight him wild* )

Thanks Wain. I'm gonna go with "glitch" on the no-spawn days - back before I figured out it was RNG-driven, I spent quite a while hunting down clutchkeepers, and they just kept spawning no matter how quickly I killed them.
