Would I be griefing if...

Unread post by Gimlion »

Would it be considered griefing if I were to buy a large amount of Armor Scrolls, so that when these douchebag horde asswhipes camping the Cat Spawn points decide to kill the rare, they get mauled to death instead?

I'm really pissed b/c this BElf Paladin is camping the spot I've been at for ages, armorless, and unresponsive to my baby Horde messenger... I know he's planning on killing it, and not really terribly informed, b/c he's at the 'spawn' but not in the right position, just at the farthest West of where NPCscan Overlay says they path, and he's completely armorless...

It's like he expects "PH4T L3WTZ" from the cats, and after seeing them on Overlay/NPCscan, did enough research to find out how to kill them. That, or he's just a complete ass like the rest of the horde on my server that are still camping the pets...

I really doubt they can kill it.

with no gear, they've got no hit, no expertise, and very low stats.
Lots of misses...and the cat is more likely to eat their face with such low health.

This.

As for your question, yes, I would consider it griefing, because you're purposely trying to interfere with their playing in a negative way. Two wrongs never make a right, no matter how justified it seems, but I remember this idea being encouraged on another thread somewhere around here, so...

No armor does not mean no weapon-so if they have weapons equipped, they can easily kill the cat ad survive, as most weapons do not add armor to a player. On Shade I tamed both with my bow and staff equipped.

Personally I would just cap another end of the area, and if they come up while you are trying to tame-then use the item that up theirs armor. But if they do not get in your way, don't get in their's

This. Use it defensively not offensively - hold onto the scrolls, but don't use unless you see him interfering with your tame; in that case by all means use a scroll, FD, watch the d-bag get what he deserves, and then resume your tame in peace. :)

If anyone tries to kill one of those rares I'd use an armor scroll in a heartbeat. It ain't griefing if they put themselves in such a vulnerable position, imo. It's like getting angry at a high level for ganking you when you run around pvp.

Probably is griefing... but just hide. Tap the scroll, tap FD and tap Camo. They won't know who hit 'em. :L

See... but they could make the same argument for killing mobs (or players) during a tame. "Oh, well they left themselves vulnerable" or "oh, well I didn't know, I was trying to help". I agree with those who say to use it defensively. Honestly, if we want people to stop griefing us while we try to tame, we really shouldn't do the same to them when they're going for what might be considered a challenging solo kill (afterall, there really aren't many out there anymore). Sure.. they're meant to be pets, but the same mechanics that make for an interesting tame could make for an interesting kill as well. As most of us probably heard when we're little kids.. "Two wrongs don't make a right".

Yeah, you are right. Guess I've been putting off PvP to long. Makes me a bit douchey. To AV I go!
