Deth'tilac!

Unread post by outbirk »

I hunted this guy for a while- he was really the only Molten Front rare I wanted. Saw him three days ago (I always Eagle Eye around in the Molten Front to look), and he died before I could run over to him because people made him kill himself with Deth Strike. =_= Then, l saw him two days ago, but a Horde hunter was taming him. I put down frost traps and slowed him. The other hunter had two of his friends helping, and he got him easily. He did emote at me thanking me, so that was good.

Yesterday morning, I logged in early to find him sitting right there. I ran over, but no one was on to help me, and I'm not nearly skilled enough to solo-tame him with constantly rezzing my pet and such. Another hunter shows up, and I let him have a try at him. He dies, and so he says he'd help me. As Deth is running back to reset, I'm laying down traps and getting ready to tag him...and from in front of the spire I hear gunshots and a hunter comes running back, auto-shotting at him. Of course, he tagged him. I figured he couldn't see me, so. The other hunter and I wind up sending our pets in to help this guy get Deth. I know I could have told him "HEY GTFO" or stolen the tame, but. I guess that's not me. And the hunter who got him tipped us both for helping.

But now I know his spawn time. So I wait. I stare at that rock for a good two hours before he spawns in front of me. And this time, I have guildmates on. Our shadow priest agrees to help me, and we start up with him Mind Flaying as I send my pet in. Frost trap, run back, Mind Flay, rez pet, repeat. We wound up getting him ready to tame but kited him over to the druids of the flame. So. We died, twice.

And at one point, we both kind of went "ohhhhhhhh" and decided to just kite him back and forth behind the spire. We'd get him to one end, and he'd Mind Flay, I'd run around behind Deth, lay down a frost trap, serpent sting, and distracting shot so my friend could run back behind me and Mind Flay. Get him to 19%, tame beas- NO! NO STOP DOTS! Frost trap, serpent sting, haste elixir, Distracting Shot, Tame Beast, and OH GOD HE'S CREEPING RIGHT TO ME. I watched my range meter slowly count down until a second was left on the tame and then...

...he shrunk and crawled over to my side like a happy little spider.

:headbang:

The last attempt was definitely cake. We both had rez sickness by the end of it, but it was SO WORTH IT. I saw him spawn at 3pm one day, 5pm the next day, then 7am the next day, and like 4:30 that afternoon when I got him. So he appears to be about a 9-14 hour spawn (math is hard okay)? Also tenacity pets are awesome to use because they have the taunt, which is just enough to get him to Deth Strike them. I let my guildmate name him, and after saying he had no idea, he said "Peter" because of Spider-Man, so I named him Pete.

And I think I have all the pets I want now until we get a challenge tame silithid (I can hope, okay).

DoTs scared me too. I had only a warlock helping me tame him (a rogue came in around 20% health, but he obviously got death striked and left) and we were both like OH SHIT THE DOTS ARE GOING TO KILL HIM before the tame went off. The lock apologized for his dots almost killing him, but I explained that'd I'd never have got him down to tamable health without his help before someone ganked him from me, so I forced him to take money for helping me, and he went on his merry way.
Part of Dark Magics, lvl 25 Horde guild, casual, helpful, don't raid, mostly help people and hunt pets.
Part of Dynasty, lvl 25 Alliance guild, casual and hardcore (your choice, no one forces you to raid, but you can), very helpful
Come on over if interested (Runetotem US, Horde name Sarantha, Ally name Ellysetta or Valeraud)
