Has happy crab :D
So, I was doing my dailies in Molten Front today. And.. after seeing the happy eyes someone posted on Karkin.. I decided if he spawned, I'd give it a go. So.. someone announces he's up at the far spawn point, so I head over. There's loads of other hunters, so.. I tried to wait until everyone was dead.. And even still felt KIND of bad when I made my taming attempt... First one failed anyways, so I waited my turn again, this time drank every haste buff that I had, and then hit tame... the ouchy spell hit me hard.. but didn't kill me... so in a panic.. I spam tame again <.< Then I see ouchies coming again... so I wait as long as I can.. then feign death... Then I see that Karkin's name is now crab... and he's gone blue... I figure, "well, good luck to whoever tamed him! I was feeling kind of bad anyways". Then I mouse over to see who the lucky person was...
... WAS ME!!!!!!
Despite my minor guilt, all the hunters that were there /cheered me and congratulated me. Asked how I managed to do it, and all that. I wished them luck for next time, and, because of my guilt, told them that if they ever needed help with any of the rares, to let me know.
I think I'm definitely done with my 4.2 rares now. None of the spirit beasts appeal to me that much... (plus I have 2 already) and I prefer my orange Pydar to any of the others.

Congratz
Can't say I personally use the pet on a daily basis, but I couldn't get rid of such a wonderful looking crab

Gratz! He was my first 4.2 tame. I wasn't sure I wanted the crab but hey, he was there and waiting for me since no one else was around. How could I not have given him a home?! He's in the stable making friends with his 'brothers and sisters'

I just can't for the life of me think of a name.... I definitely think he'll be one of the "teehee" names, like my Squishy, and Squiggles, just a matter of finding the right one... That's the problem with spontaneous tames! The names are the hardest! So far... Giggles is the only name on my list... I'll have to see if I can come up with some others... Hmm.. I wonder if just plain old Teehee would be a bit TOO much...

My Karkin sorta bugged. I pulled with tame, silenced fieroclast, set to taming him. He hit me with two nasty fireballs anyway and I was near death (I had no haste pots or buffs or anything, since I had not set out to tame him and he just happened to pop while I was there) when he suddenly turned blue and ran to me. This was mid-tame. My cast wasn't even near finished and he just decided to run over and be tamed. I guess he got tired of watching other people fail and let a lucky little orc tame him.

Well, if you had the gust buff, that could have helped. For both Skarr and Karkin my cast bar didn't finish, only got maybe halfway because of all my hast, the tame finished that fast.
I was just kind of SHOCKED (like.. majorly) when apparently my tame finished the second I feigned. And BIG thank you to all the hunters that were also trying for not getting angry when my turn came around and for being happy for me in my successful tame. I wish them all the best luck!

Wow. That gust buff is a powerful boon to all hunters taming these guys then. That explains it! I felt I like I had exploited a bug and felt bad, but I was just using (unknown to me at the time) a game buff. I will definitely mention this to any other hunters looking to tame these guys on my server. I had been up there farming earth from the punishers at the time and likely got the buff without noticing, since I hadn't jumped or anything.

My sister is now saying his name is Crabby. It's kind of a fitting, ironic name.. Crabby the happy crab... But.. I almost think it's a bit too cliche... Not sure it's a name I'll click with... heh.

It seems the cast bars are bugged and don't reflect the true cast speed if you have a bunch of haste on. Surprised me, too!
