Helping other hunters is starting to pay off!

Unread post by Pantaloons »

So once again I was on my mage when I spotted a certain owl flying over the usual quest area of malorune. Ever since taming him myself I have seen him a grand total of 5 times, and thats just simply doing my dailies when I can be bothered. I was telling a guildie how to get and use NPCscan so he can collect all the spirit beasts for himself. when I spotted the owl I told him to get his butt over here and take it before the other 3 hunters watching him could.

Sadly, he got there to see the owl but a hunter had already got him into the tree and started the tame.

Feeling bad for my guildie, we decided to search for any other spirit beasts that might be wondering around azeroth at the time. He needed Karoma and Skoll so he went to check Twilight highlands while I went to storm peaks. He had no luck with Karoma but that didn't matter because Skoll was BEGGING for attention when I found him. I ported him to Dal and he got Skoll no problem...

His NPCscan wasn't working though since he was new to it, I tried my best to explain how to get it right. I was in the middle of telling him about the Time-Lost proto drake since he asked who the giant flight path in storm peaks belonged to and then something very very scary happend....

NPCscan goes off mid-sentence and Vyragosa flies RIGHT OVER US. Coinsidence much... I guess Blizzard is starting to thank me for helping hunters get their nice pets. Hopefully next time I help a hunter get skoll, a certain proto drake might fly by and reward me aswell :D

My mage has been helping get Ban'thalos down now for over a week. I have people /w me while I'm on other toons saying they were told I'd help them if they needed him on the ground to tame, so I switch and help. When I get to the ground (hunter should be very close to me)..they start shooting to start getting aggro because I go invis....put ice trap down and start tame...pretty easy :) I tamed mine by myself in the tree!

I have seen Ankha spawn now 4 times in a row. I have helped 4 different hunters tame it. (I'm trying to help husband and son get Magria). I love spotting these cats. I have seen 2 warlocks, 3 warriors, numerous pallies, and several others THINK they were going to take these cats on wearing full gear. It has been quite entertaining at times! One pally /w me and asked me if I was going to tame it. I told him I had it..was he going to kill it? He said no, that dang cat has gotten the best of me a few times now. I'm not going to mess with him!  I didn't let him know what the problem was ;)

I watched an alliance hunter drop to tame it out from under a friend of mine (who had no clothes on what-so-ever) and my friend is yelling...KILL HIM KILL HIM! I told him to just hold on a minute. I was watching the health of the alliance hunter who never went below his full 114k. I told my friend he'd have his chance, the alliance would die before he got it tamed. My friend was beside himself that I was going to watch this take place after he came all the way out there...I told him patience. He'd get the tame. The alliance hunter died within mere seconds and I told my friend...start your tame, I'll keep the trash off you! :)

Another friend wanted Ankha but he'd already went to bed so we talked his wife, who has never played the hunter before, through the taming process. When she first started the tame, she had a pet out even though we told her to make sure she didn't. The pet died, she died. I mass rez'd her, and told her to dismiss the pet. She told me she didn't have a pet out. I told her she had to revive it and then dismiss it. After she did that, easy sauce in taming, even for her!

It pays off and makes you feel good, but don't get so far into it that you make it an occupation of your time when you have nothing else to do. @#$@heads will eventually notice and try to gank the tames and make it feel worse for you. =(

I know from experience.
Part of Dark Magics, lvl 25 Horde guild, casual, helpful, don't raid, mostly help people and hunt pets.
Part of Dynasty, lvl 25 Alliance guild, casual and hardcore (your choice, no one forces you to raid, but you can), very helpful
Come on over if interested (Runetotem US, Horde name Sarantha, Ally name Ellysetta or Valeraud)

WOW THATS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPEND TO ME! When I went to tame Ankha, no other hunters were around but I accidentaly had my pet out and he died. it took me a good 2 minutes to realise that i had to revive then dismiss, all the while chasing Ankha around the forest and waiting for him to get away from other trash so I could do the tame XD

When I went to tame Loque, I was in survival spec. It kept telling me that I couldn't tame. Just so happened I had a 'seasoned hunter' on his way out there to watch me tame it. He'd been there for all the rest of the spirit beast tame and had helped me with finding some of them so it felt only right that he head to me when I was going to tame!  I told him it wouldn't let me tame it and apparently Blizzard had changed it to non-tamable, which would be my luck! He told me to do Beast Lore and see if it still said tamable. It said it was. He said, just hang on, I'm almost there. When he landed he said...switch to BM and you'll do fine! /slap face on keyboard! I felt like such a noob :P
