one thing they could do is have a rare chance when digging to randomly spawn a angered spirit of some kind that if you kill drops multiple keystones or if it's a beast and your a hunter you can tame it instead.
Re: Noah/Wain: Please give us a pet from Archeology..
The pterrordax made no sense whatsoever. You assemble fragments of a long petrified egg, glue them together and.... I wonder what's inside! Same with the canopic jar. You assemble it just to open it up again and see what's inside?
I do like the idea some people brought up of something akin to the cat statues. It could summon a gemstone cat, for example. But there'd have to be some purpose to it, or some novelty, for players other than hunters.

Same issue with the Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron. You gather up fragments to put it together...and then suddenly feel compelled to open it to see whats inside? Granted, the box kind of has the whole Lovecraftian tilt going for it, but still...Wain wrote:The pterrordax made no sense whatsoever. You can alternately pick up the cat and sell it at a vendor, who will likely resell it as a minipet?Wain wrote:I do like the idea some people brought up of something akin to the cat statues. Tbh, I think that this one could work if an idea like this was to be implemented. Especially if the mob in question that spawned dropped keystones. That way you could have the choice to kill and collect, even if you already had/did not want the beast you just dug up. That and it would not just a hunter thing.... oh and it could be designed that what ever lvl you are when you dig, that would be the lvl of the mod that spawned, so it could be for all lvls. (I wouldn't mind digging up and gem cat and allRajaan wrote:one thing they could do is have a rare chance when digging to randomly spawn a angered spirit of some kind that if you kill drops multiple keystones or if it's a beast and your a hunter you can tame it instead.

I know some may hate the idea of a RNG pet spawn, but then I know others hate having to camp pets. Personally if I had a choice to grind away at something to get lucky, or just hang around in one spot to get lucky, I'd rather grind... but then that's just me. And it would also make archeology a little more enticing for hunters, as we currently don't have an awful amount to look forward to finding on the reward front (apart from those smexy mounts and mini pets)
Anyway, I think if implemented well, it could be a great idea.

This is a world of warcraft not world of make sense, if blizzard wants to make skeletal raptors and skeletal wind serpent to be beast and tamable, they can make it so.

Re: Noah/Wain: Please give us a pet from Archeology..
that could work, but I want something tameable out of it..Wain wrote:The pterrordax made no sense whatsoever. You assemble fragments of a long petrified egg, glue them together and.... I wonder what's inside! Same with the canopic jar. You assemble it just to open it up again and see what's inside?

And I never said it had to be super rare... make it as rare as the raptor-skele mount. Something everyone has by the time they hit 450. I just want something hunter-specific to make me bother doing it on my second hunter, otherwise, once is more than enough...

I do have to admit some of the tame beast or untamable really don't make sense XD
personally I would kill for a skeletal wind serpent
we can tame crocodiles yet we cant tame basilisks (and they look pretty similar in build) the ungoro basilisk look great
we can tame Rhinos but we cant tame mammoths or stegodons or kodos
we can tame shale spiders but we cant tame the gyreworms
personally I wouldn't mind if archeology got some pets that can be killed for key stones or tamed tbh sounds like an interesting Idea

Re: Noah/Wain: Please give us a pet from Archeology..
Actually.. this would be a perfect idea to add the Gem Cat models. I thought of a few ideas on how it could work.
Archaeology - Uldum (Gem Cat Riding Tiger Models)
A marbled statue of a cat spawns somewhere in the zone, random color. Upon examination by someone with Archaeology level 525, you notice a small indentation resembling a Tol'vir Hieroglyph. You are prompted with a choice of placing one in, when you do the statue begins to come to "life". The Archaeologist has the option of killing the newly awakened beast or taming it. If killed it will drop the Tol'vir Hieroglyph(and maybe a bonus one or two) and vendor bait "Fragment of an ancient god/deity" similar to what one would solve from Archaeology. It could vendor for.. say.. 50g? Maybe 100g?
-OR-
Archaeology - Uldum (Gem Cat Riding Tiger Models)
While running around trying to find fragments to complete your current puzzle, one could come across a buried marbled cat statue. It wouldn't take the place of one of your fragment finds, but simply you come across something peculiar in the sand. It becomes partially visible once "discovered" and you must click on it and take the option to fully uncover it. When disturbed, the once thought statue begins to rumble and awaken. Again, you are given the choice to tame or kill with the same rewards as above.
You could even expand to other race/zones. Maybe in Night Elf areas have the Gem Panther/Hunched models, or even the blue gem looking owl. Could even go as far as to add Gargoyles to this as Nerubian. They're stone statues that come to life.
Those are just my wild ideas that I thought up when I read this.

Um just a thing Gargoyles have nothing to do with Nerubians. Seeing as archeology is for old stuff so pre lich king take over and Gargoyles are a lich king thing.

I don't know the lore or anything, so I can't comment on any of that. It was merely an idea and can be tweaked and changed to see fit. It was the closest I could think of to include them into, although I have seen some Gargoyles around the Troll encampments in Stranglethorn. I think around the Zanzil quest line? Pretty sure those were Gargoyles although I could be mistaken. (I wouldn't care if they were included or not. Just tossed it in there because I remember some people wanting tamable Gargoyles.)

Chiming in just to say: Tameable skeletal windserpents would be almost too fabulous for words.Royi wrote:Oh wow, just imagine a little boulder that follows you around. Also, the Huge rolling boulder pet, rumbling along with a sound file like a corehound and bouncing up and down on mobs to kill them would be even better, if that's possible.
