2 Horrible Days!

Unread post by Kinyoku »

The last two days on Bronzebeard have been a nightmare, the new challenge pets in Molten Front have brought out the worst in everyone it seems like. Trolls (not the race) Griefer's, Ninja's and more are on the loose. :( Starting two days ago, I happened to find Deth'tilac being kited around by a group of hunters, the one originally taming it had gotten it to 15% before he died, the other hunters nearly killed it trying to steal it from one another in the process.

I waited and watched as the spider killed off every hunter trying before they all left and had NOT bothered to come back once they rezzed, I waited patiently because the last thing I wanted to do was steal it from someone. After 10 minutes and no one coming back I gave it a try, I had gotten him to 64% when the hunters returned in mass and "Assisted" in getting this pet down. At 20% I was excited that the first challenge pet I would get, was the one in my favorite color. However suddenly the spider turned around and started attacking something ... but I hit tame anyhow to get a message "This creature is already being tamed." A goblin had dropped down, Aimed shot the creature stole agro, tamed it and fled the area. I found out after he was gone from a druid who had watched it happen.

Disappointed I went to sulk ... and report it to blizzard when I found Kirix skittering around. Excited I rushed to a little floating island out of the way to attempt catching him. It took a couple of tries but I was getting the hang of it when 2 hunters showed up, another goblin who had it already, and a night elf. As I was jumping to the other side to start the tame she shot the creature and then did nothing. She waited until I died because of a random creature that "Mysteriously" appeared behind me had killed me, then took the tame for herself.

At this point I was extremely upset, not even hours apart from one another and I lost both to someone else. Today, I was headed for the cave to do rune quest for the Wardens when I spotted someone taming the yellow spider, which was fine because I already had a yellow one. As I entered the cave however I spotted Solix, I rushed at it and quickly started kitting him around the cave using ice traps to help slow him down. At some point the phasing broke and OTHER hunters as well as everyone else appeared around the area. I had been the only one there when I started. Sadly as its energy hit 20% and I started the tame, again the spider spun around to attack someone else, and then seconds later dropped dead at my feet. Someone killed it while I was nearing the end of the tame. >:c

*hugs* that really is horrible people can be extremely well pretty much douchebags! Deth has the worst agro table ever and I think its because of the deth strikes and the whole they continue shooting while you have to spend 9 whole seconds reviving your pet, 9 seconds is quite alot especially since your not attacking for those 9 seconds. If your doing it solo your thinking less of shooting constantly and just finding a safe spot to revive your pet and people take advantage of your hard work then run off like the coward they are. It happens alot sadly.. more then it should.

Kirix is the most difficult creature ever, the rock strat is pretty much bugged. He gets tamed if he feels like it for that strat and usually the tames ive seen were glitched tames that make no sense whatoever. Just someone jumped onto the rock hit tame and 4 seconds later kirix is tamed and those who died alot are left wondering wth just happened.

I am sorry about solix.. people are just rude.

Hopefully itll get better! Not everyone are complete jerks, thankfully there are still some people who have a sense of decency in them.

Thanks :c It's so frustrating when it happens, the ONLY good thing that happened was shortly after posting this I managed to tame Anhka and a green spiderling that looked like Kirix removing any need to suicide myself for that spider ever again. >.<;

I read another thread of this sort of thing happening. It almost sounds like a bug to me honestly. If you had built up threat to bring him down to 64%, and even further to 20%, you should have kept aggro over an aimed shot. Blizzard needs to look into this, it sounds like he's aggro dropping or something.

Yeah, that definitely sucks. Sorry you went through that. You are right that 4.2 has brought out the worst in people.

With Deth'Tilac though, and I hate to say it, but you kinda shot yourself in the foot by being too nice. Waited 10 minutes for the hunters to return?? If the mob has reset aggro, then they had their turn and now it's yours. If you wanted to be super-nice maybe look around and check humanoid tracking to confirm they're gone before beginning the kite, but that's going beyond common courtesy.

Also, were you using pet sacrifice to get him down? You may already know about this but Deth's insta-kill also drains it of 10% of its own HP, so repeatedly sending in a throwaway pet and rezzing it is the fastest way to get its HP down into the "tame zone" (that's what worked for me... keeping 5 throwaway pets and abandoning the first 4 after death is even faster, but you have to be pretty dedicated to take that route...); if you don't go that route, it takes a dog's age to get his HP down just from kiting alone, meaning griefers and stampeding mobs of GIMMERARENAO hunters have that much more time to show up and do their thing.

Otherwise in re: greens and yellows... I took a shot at Kirix once, had a few near misses but ultimately someone else got him (thanks to a pally friend - taming is now a "team effort" don'tcha know) ;)

So I just got myself a broodling and honestly haven't thought about Kirix since. If I did see him I'd avoid him. No interest in the rare red or yellow either.

I did camp Solix after a fashion, but only to log in, check, log off. Took a couple false starts there but eventually I got him. Not sure if you were camping or not, but in my experience every hour I invest in sitting there at a stakeout makes the final outcome that much more critical, to the point where it's just not worth it to me. I'm happy to take the windfalls. :)

Agree all points here. Once aggro is reset, go ahead and try taming. No need to wait a few minutes.

Yeah try the sacrifice method with pets / gnomes works well too

Deth was a special case because as much as I love purple I wasn't even sure "what" his challenge was so, between "waiting" and my own attempt I had to look him up. After I found out what it was I had to do, I gave a quick look around and gave it a shot. I'm -not- the best kiter around, in fact that was my first real attempt since Vanilla but gave it my best attempt so stopping to res my pet was not looking like a good idea so I ended up just kiting and using my pet when I managed to get far enough away. Snake trap however was a god-send. He was worried too much about the snakes to come at me.

The Green and Yellow ones I don't really need to worry about (thankfully) anymore. But Solix, I wasn't even looking for him really. I was running around finishing up the quest down there, thought to myself "Doesnt a pet spawn down here?" And sure enough he was there, but to have someone kill it was harsh. All because the phase in the area broke. I was the only one in the cave but all of a sudden I could see the quest mobs again, the blue runes you break AND everyone else. From there it went down hill. ;-;

@ Royi LOL Now I just need a cluster of gnomes to throw at it, I'm certain they would just love me for it. >> << I'm thinking about having some DK friends swing over and pop Army too.

I know what you went through. Been there done that. I am a late night/early morning player anyways and only "hunt" rares in the wee hours of the mornings now when most are a sleep. I would suggest to keep doing your everyday tasks and come back for these guys when mid Aug to early Sept rolls around...
