I still say don't kill it. I find it hypocritical to do so if you're someone who knows what its like to find one of these guys dead because someone thought it was ok to kill it for whatever silly reason.

I mean no offense to anyone, but I would rather it be ME with the blood on my hands, knowing what I did, than some ignorant other class just killing it for kicks. I would only kill it (as I have said many times) if I could not find it a home on either faction within an hour. After an hour goes by and Anthriss is still sitting there, odds are some paladin will get it in his thick metal head that it drops epic purpz and kill it for fun. At least I know what I'm doing and will likely not get a repair bill out of it and I have not sold a single tear off these beasts, so it is definitely not for the gold. In fact, I actually SAW a paladin try and kill it the other day, only to get faceowned. After making sure no one wanted to tame it, I went out and killed it myself the right way and avoided repair bills. The pally was upset, but apologized when I told him what I was doing and what it dropped and he actually thanked me for not letting him get anymore repair bills.

And by doing that, you'll end up on wowjackass.com cause a hunter comes along and wants to tame him and sees you kill it. So.....yeah. Not worth it.

I guess it does make me a jackass when I ask in general for an hour and get no response from anyone wanting to tame it. I'm such an awful, evil jackass person and need to be punished for sitting in general for an hour asking if anyone wants to tame a rare spider.

I TRY to help people, but it seems people don't want my help (in game) so sorry if I don't want to see some metalhead warrior come up and kill Anthriss, and rack up several repair bills doing so, when I could do it without a single repair bill. It makes me so evil to stop other people from getting repair bills.

I'm sorry. Ban me if you want. Not one person on my server has ever said a word against me and my Anthriss killing, agreeing with me that if they fail to kill it and I can, then its all mine. As long as NO ONE WANTS TO TAME IT. Are you getting this? I make sure NO ONE WANTS IT before I kill it. I'm not trying to be a dick (pardon the language) but I am saving others from repair bills and resetting the timer on a rare that NO ONE ON THE ENTIRE SERVER wants.

Honestly, my misadventures with Anthriss really make me wish she had nerfbat. The paladin who killed her on me laughed at us, so yes I called him a jerk. I hope his socks spontaneously combust, all the milk in his house goes sour and when he wants to buy ice cream the flavor he wants is sold out. All but twice that I've seen her, people waltzed up and killed her - even grouping up to do so. So even if I *find* someone interested in her, I have to hope and pray no one waltzes along in the meantime. :/ Unfortunately, such is an uncommon occurrence and the vast majority of the time people kill it or take aggro during tame.

While many if not most people will back off a rare tamable (I had one yutz in a guild notorious for being ... the exact opposite of polite and competent calling out for a group to kill this rare. I pointed out 'dude, no cheeves and no loot', to which he got all petulant and pouty: 'But I wanna kill it for fun!' 'just wanted to kill it'. Mercifully, it ate his face and general chat kind of ignored him).

I just wonder what the heck is in the water this patch. People stealing Deth by letting someone else do the work and hitting tame and generally being horrible.

A nerf bat would solve EVERY hunters' problem, agreed. But it would sure make it hard on people since these mobs are not neutral. If you don't have a FD or invisibility, you're getting repair bills unless they make them all neutral (which would not be a bad idea either).

I'm just afraid of a ban because I tend to make occasionally offensive posts (not meaning to, they just happen to offend certain sensitive people about a certain subject). I like this forum and most of the people here, so I would really like to be able to stay and converse with you. It also happens to be that the people I offend tend to be either mods or former mods, making it worse. I never really intend to offend anyone. If you find a subject so sensitive that it offends you, say so and I will just shut my pie-hole. I can talk myself to death sometimes.

As someone who has /whoed dozens of zones, sending personal whispers to every hunter level-ready in that zone (and I don't just mean the zone the rare is in, either), there's really only so much you can do. It's a nice person that even tries. It's not something you *have* to do to begin with. If you're trying to rehome it you're already going above and beyond.

I've /whoed cities before, late at night when no one is on to want the spawn (I work evenings so when I get on it's late). I don't consider it terrible to kill Skoll for example, at 3am in a deserted Storm Peaks after /who-ing all of Northrend and beyond. Better to reset his timer so that he might pop up in the morning for someone.

So yeah, guess that makes me a Jackass, too. Ah well.

I see 0 issue in killing the rare yellow or red spiders. They are absolutely no different from the common skins; if you want to prove you can do a challenge tame, there's always the green* and orange. At least then the hassle you went through would be obvious.

*There are common greens, but even they are rare as they aren't up all the time.

Honestly? Id kinda would rather sit back and watch someone die multiple times and of course tell him it drops nothing but if he still wants to go and kill himself for 25g he can. Ill try to find someone to tame her as much as I can but I dont think I could kill her, actually I know I couldnt. If someone wants to die multiple times even though you tell him what it drops then he deserves it and he can enjoy the repair bill. The thing with Anthriss really is if you know how to tame it, you know how to kill it so it would be easier for say a hunter to kill it then someone who walked straight over. People can straight up kill them and somehow survive but it seems more like sweet justice when I saw Anthriss kill 4 mages in a row then I waltzed up to tame her.

Im the person in the back cheering for the rare If noone wants to tame her then heck atleast she'll fight to the very end!

Anthriss and Skitterflame are awesome and just because they arent unique doesnt mean they are worthless. Ive seen alot of people looking for them, I mean think of it are all the rares people have are all of them unique? Some maybe not all of them, its not the skin its the memory or how you got it or some people like taming the rare version. People still love humar but theres pitch, does it make him less special? Nope! Does it make it less special when you tame something that just killed 3 other people? Heck no! It makes it more special!

Just gonna stick my opinion up in here, though I'm sure it won't be a popular one.

I see no problem with killing rares, so long as you are not killing it out from under someone. I especially see no problem with killing it after you have tried to rehome it and found no one.

Killing rares isn't really that big of a deal. It happens, we get over it. A number of people announce in general, guild chats, or somewhere that they've just killed it. That gives you a time! And, even if a rare only drops 25g, if no one wants it and I feel like killing it, then I will. I'm not going to kill something people have been camping for and I have rehomes rares before, but I honestly don't see what the problem is.

Just my two cents, so please feel free to ignore this post. I'd just like to remind you all that there are always two sides to a story and that, just because you think something is horrible, that doesn't mean it actually is.

In truth? I don't know why I wanted Anthriss. It just seemed like yellow really, really appealed to me. And Anthriss needed some love. So I wanted Anthriss. That said? I love common banana spider too. Both are beautiful to me and my second hunter is going to have some common lava spiders. I find having two hunters eases my stress and worries about rares.

I dislike people killing rares unless there's just NO ONE around who wants them. It happens.

Before I decided to collect the whole set, I saw Anthriss up one morning, and I was too foolish to grab her. Since then, I haven't had a glimpse of her... Even though I've tried, so much. Now she is the only one I need: I have Gryffindor (Solix), Ravenclaw (Deth'tilac) and Slytherin (Cinderweb Broodling - just because I want my Kirix to be Voldemort), and Anthriss will be Hufflepuff.

If there is a rare version of a skin, I ALWAYS go for it. Call it anything you like, but it helps me develop a bond with the pet by having worked my butt off for it.

I only kill a rare if it actually drops loot-- that being said i dont kill certain ones like spirit beasts and old rares that i have developed a bond with (though even then, i will kill them for the exp since i only usually see them at low levels)

I wouldnt harm a couple of the non-spirit beasts in cata like Sambas and Terrorpene (mind-blank.. are those the only 2 introduced when cata came out?). For 4.2 though, only ones i would leave alone would be Skarr/Karkin/Kirix/Deth (talking about non-spirit beasts. I leave all spirit beasts alone). Id leave deth, karkin, and skarr alone cause they are damn friggin awesome, and id leave kirix alone cause hes a mass slaughterer of destruction
