Will Gilneas become a 'real' city?

Unread post by Nikrosnil »

I believe that Gilneas will become a new capital for the Worgen, such as The Exodar for Draenei and Silvermoon for the Blood elves.

I'm not entirely certain about the Lost isles for the goblins though, as the gnomes share the dwarf city of Ironforge, perhaps they will share the home city of the Orc, Orgrimmar?

What do you think?

Blizzard have said that we have enough capitals, and that the Goblins and the Worgen won't get their own ones.

Besides, Gilneas is the new battleground! But yeah, I'd love to do some auctioning while getting killed by those mean, evil Hordies...

Yeah, unfortunately it's already confirmed that there will *not* be any added cities in Cataclysm, so Gilneas won't become one. Wish it were though, just since I love the style of the Worgen area. I'd stay in it for eye-candy alone.

Aww, that's such a shame, It would have been my favourite city, and I'd have left a victorian-garbed blood elf character there. I love the setting.

Can you imagine them actually making a city with neutral NPCs, that autoflags you when you head in? It would be chaos.

Supposedly instead of having a racial capital city to call home the Worgen will just get there own District in Stormwind to operate out of.

This isn't a really odd setup though because the Trolls and to some extent Gnomes don't have their own racial capital cities and have to settle for Ogrimmar and Iron Forge to be their capitals.

Gnomeregan is being recaptured in Cata. At least that's what I heard. My main gnome will definitely get dusted off then (haven't been on her in a month... or three...).

Yes. My first love. :(

I love gnomes. Very much. I even can sound like on in real life. I've lost/made many friends on that notion alone...

Agreed, if only gnomes could be Hunters... For now I'll have to settle for my death knight and my warlock...

That would fit in with lore since if anyone does the Gnomergan instance you're running around clearing out troggs and finally kill Thermaplugg bringing an end
to his rule over the place.

It's too bad, it'd be a cool capital. But I'm just glad we'll get to see ANYTHING on the other side. I remember wandering over there on my first toon and wondering, WHAT IS BEHIND THIS WALL?!

On that note, does anybody know if that Timbermaw location in Azshara is going to be opened up? I've wondered what's behind THAT wall for a while, too.

Wow, I'd completely forgotten about that wall until you mentioned it. It would be cool if it was another section opened up for the Timbermaw faction. After all, that last uncorrupted tribe really should have something better then a few dated patterns for rewards and your toons being able to access the tunnel without at risk of being mauled.
I was a little sad to learn that Gilneas was't going to be a capital city. But I do understand, considering that pretty much every city besides Orgrimmar and Stormwind are practically ghost towns. :|

So instead of it being a long, irritatingly confusing instance, Gnomergan is going to be a long, irritatingly confusing city? Actually, I would look forward to seeing Gnomergan being reclaimed.

Hopefully Blizz will open it up and maybe give some more quests in the area involving the Furbolg. According to WoWWiki the zone will be turned into a low level zone with the playable Goblins setting up a city there, not a capital city it looks like.

With the landscape being changed and possible all the Undead, Demons, and maybe Blue Dragons running around after the aftermath it would kinda make since for the Furbolg to offer quests to get rid of them before they swarm their Hold. And give a boost in earning reputation with the group for those who didn't before Cata.

My understanding is that Gilneas becomes a battleground, goblins get a town in Azshara, worgen get a district in Stormwind. These are fairly solidly backed up by published info. Mekkatorque relocating to Gnomer is a rumour I've heard as well - if they're streamlining Gnomer as an instance, then partially reclaiming it could be a good way to achieve that without having to completely redesign the place. That said, I don't believe that idea is anywhere near as well backed up as the first three points.

As far as alliance capitals go, both IF and Stormwind tend to have fairly decent populations, as their AH and banks are nice and close together. Darnassus and Exodar are ghost towns because they're in the middle of nowhere and their layout is a fair bit less convenient (much further to go between bank and AH). SW also gets a few extra people due to the presence of the PvP vendors (the IF battlemasters are slightly closer to the bank and AH though).

Worgen will probably get that park-like district in SW where the druid trainers hang out. I figure only because the Worgen have a strong tie to the Night Elves (via Lore and that opening intro) so wherever they're "main location" is at, it'll probably be near a few NE's.

Only question I have is, what's going too happen too Azshara Crater? Got rezzed in there once while questing in Azshara a long time ago... Two small towns and some nice hunter stomping grounds as well. Or is that the Timbermaw area?
