First Entry

Anthriss, Ban'thalos, and Skarr

Got the three in less than 30 mins tonight. So I was wraping up my quests in the Molten Front right after the reset. Now I never bother to check for spawns during that time since the place is packed. But tonight right before i left i was using EE just to check and Anthriss was up. I ran right over and didnt bother to get the haste buff from my Corehound. Big mistake. I died. I rezzed a few seconds later and got him. No one showed up.

Feeling good i go over to check around the Valcano. SKARR IS UP. I rush up there as quickly as i can but of course completely forgot to respec for Silencing shot so i was panicing. Do i stay and hope the attack misses until i tame him. Or do i go respec and possibly lose him. I chose the later. HS to SW, Unspecd. Respeced as i was flying back.

Once i get near the portal to Firelands NPCSCAN goes off. BANTHALOS. What do I do? SKARR OR BANTHALOS. Decide to get BT first. Land perfectly on the tree the first time. Almost forget frost trap. Hit him, trap him, tame him. Easy. I couldnt believe it. I NEVER land on that tree correctly.

Quick rush to stables to drop off more pets. Dismiss my wolf since i know i can get him anytime. Rushing back i cant believe Skarr is still there undisturbed. I go for it. Somehow my silence shot went off at the wrong time, missed, got resisted... I dont know what. But his attack MISSED me. 2 second later i got him.

Couldnt believe it. Of course Deth'tilac is up but there is already another hunter. I let him go first. Hunter overdoes it kills him. But while waiting i meet another hunter. father playing his sons toon. We talk strats for a while and right when were leaving i decided to try EE once again. Skitter is up. I help the guy try and get him. He slips up on the kitng gets killed. ANother hunter almost gets him but no luck. Overdoes it too. Could have been 5 if i decided to be a jerk but ill take being a nice guy and the three i got. Still pretty good. The only four im keeping are Skarr, Karkin, Banthalos, and Dethtilac, and i know ill get them eventualy.

Second Entry

Kirix, Solix, and Deth'tilac

Within 24 hours of this post I managed to get Kirix and then Solix. The thing is...i traded Anthriss up for Kirix and then did the same to Kirix for Solix (I actualy did keep Kirix a couple of days). And just now Deth'tilac (Easiest tame Ive done. SO HAPPY) replaced Solix. Dethtilac was always the goal so i'm actualy feeling a little guilty about keeping the other spiders from other hunters. But on the other hand i feel a need to accomplish these ten challenge tames despite the fact i'm only keeping four (Skarr, Karkin, Dethtilac, and Banthalos).

Anthriss, Kirix, and Solix were completely alone when i found them and no one else showed up before i started taming. Hunters did show up during Kirix attemps however and a hunter did show up midtame of Solix. But now i want to tame Skitterflame, Anhka and Magria (Karkin im keeping so no moral dilema there). Ill hold onto them a few days but my stable can only hold so many (Im debating releasing Gondria and Karoma and maybe just keeping one of each spirit beast animal family: cat, wolf, bear , etc...) so i will eventualy release them. So im torn.

So my question is: How are you handling taming the pets your are going to keep vs the ones you are doing for the challenge. Are you keeping all 10? Do you not care for the challenge and simply going after those you are keeping. Will you give other hunters priority? Will you tame a less desireable rare while you wait to trade up? Am i a horrible hunter?

Magria So its been a while. I decided, to do my self a little favor as well, and not camp out the last three, and just let them come to me as they may. Tonight Magria came to me and in the first 10 minutes of the new dailies reset. Really lucky.

Entry Five

Skitterflame Was quiet simple. I figured three traps, set one down, wait thirty seconds and pull, set another, readiness and set a third. Well i missed the first one with my pull but set down one right away and trapped him. hit readiness and trapped him a second time. Thats all it took. When it broke i feared him and tamed. Took about 30 seconds first try. I cant keep him so i used him for my dailies and 2 dungeon runs tonite and released him back into the wild. Just need Ankha now

Been sitting in Mount Hyjal on and off during the day after getting home from work, while in queue for heroics when NPC scan goes off. Yep it's Ankha and my collection is complete

I got Karkin tonight and had a chance or two at Solix and blew them -- clearly I fail as a hunter. Meh, there'll be another time, and I'm not that crazy about getting the spiders anyway. Skarr is the one I really want; after him and Karkin, then Terrorpene, and I'm done in what I feel I have to do.

I did similar with Skitterflame. Tammed him mainly for the challenge, after which I got Solix and abandoned Skitter. When / IF I will get Deth, I will probably end up releasing Solix. 5 spiders is too much to keep Then again, I do keep all spirit beasts and like you, I won't release Karkin nor Skarr, they are amazing companions

I am having the same problem,

I really would like the challenges but unfortunately my stable is completely full.

I did manage to get Anthiss, Kirix and deth spiders
and banny.

the two spirit cats don't really seem a challenge.
skarr or karkin seem nice but I am not overly interested in them :S
so I guess I got lucky on that part. but I would have like to have tried solix and skitter too.

Its going to be a pain tho when new pets are released XD
i got some old sentimental pets i really don't want to get rid off and on the other hand i got most spirit beasts too which I don't want to drop /sigh

Well I originally wanted a few of these pets. Magria or Ankha, I liked the blue more but decided I would tame whichever one i saw and leave it at that. Then I wanted Kirix.

So far I have tamed Magria, Ankha, Solix, Banny, Karkin, Skarr & Kirix x2. Made an attempt at Deth but she was stolen from me, made an attempt at Anthriss. I can't resist a challenge!

I decided to keep Ankha (now Riddle - HP ref), she spawned for me first and I ended up liking white better than blue. I also ended up keeping Solix (now Ariados - Pokemon ref) over Kirix despite me liking the green skin more. Solix was a personal triumph for me and I felt like it was fate for us! I tamed Banny but still unsure whether I will keep him. Karkin (now Crabhammer) will be staying and I think Skarr will too.

I've since seen Anthris & Deth again and I helped a guildie tame. As much as I wanted the personal triumph of being able to do the challenge, I knew they would both most likely be abandoned shortly after since Ariados is the only spider for me. That combined with the face they were the ones my guildie wanted made the choice very obvious to me

I have since talked to many hunters, keeping an eye out for them :] I'm satisfied with my pets!

The thing I loved about all these challenges were the fact I had to clean out my stables for them. It allowed me to release some pets who I don't use that much in exchange for some new (and old) friends to join or rejoin my stables

I haven't tamed any of the challenges yet, I've been too caught up with leveling two baby hunters. I did, however, grab a regular yellow fire spider for my Goblin after giving up on Kirix, who I originally camped for. I didn't have the patience to sit there for hours and random log ins over several days and at wildly varying times, yielded only one sight of him, freshly tamed in the arms of a Worgen Hunter, who I promptly cheered and then logged on Alliance to chat with.
Also, while in that area, I saw Deth and helped a lovely Tauren hunter get him down with the assistance of an Orc hunter and a handful of Alliance players. None of them knew the tactics, so I shouted out instructions and it all went smoothly. Unfortunately, I really want Deth myself. But the hunter he is meant for, is on another server.

I will tame all of these eventually, as I luckily have enough hunters to pair them with (and most importantly, who they suit!), but I am not doing it for the challenge (and will always pick a regular over a rare mob, when given the choice). I tame animals only for their looks or how I imagine they'd suit my hunter, never for prestige or "showing off". Hopefully they will click with their future hunter friends and I won't need to abandon any.

Karkin, Skarr, Kirix, Magria, Deth'tilac, and Solix for me. Didn't bother with Skitter or Anthriss, since their models are common. Waiting....and WAITING....for Ankha now. 10 hours and counting. Ban'thalos spawned earlier, but a tauren beat me to it. Oh well. At least it was another hordie.

I finally got Ban'thalos today and thus completed all the challenge tames. I ended up releasing Skitterflame and Anthriss because I really just want the unique skins and those two have copies that are easily tamed. My stable is also full now D: almost entirely with rares. I'm pretty stoked to have every single spirit beast in game now but if/when they release more unique tames for us I have no idea what I'm going to do if the stable size isn't increased. I don't think I could bare to abandon any of the rares I now have

I hear you. I released all the spiders on the way to Deth'tilac and thats the only spider im keeping.

Banthalos, Skarr and Karkin are here to stay, but Magria & Ankha, along with Gondria, will only be with me a little longer. I think im going to do some kinda of screenshot memorial to my spirit beasts before i start getting rid of them but 9 slots is too much for a single family.

I am thinking myself of making one, but that'd be too late....I already have Karkin, Skarr, Spirit Cat twins, Banny, Kirix(well, think of Cinderweb Brooder)

@Chuckles: I actually abandoned some rares I didnt really like that much. I'd keep the ones that are completely close to your soul, (well, not really but you get where I am going) I'd never abandoned my Arcturis because he was my first SB, and I will never Abandon Skarr/Karkin because of the hassle of horde I had to go through to get them. Ankha, Magria, and Gondira. They're all same model/different skin. I personally dont like purple gondira, so I did end up abandoning my gondira. So choose the pets you like, and keep them close. Like, I still have my Sian Rotam (white lion) who's been close to me to the day I saw her. I still have her, and she has earned a perma spot in my stables.

@Arrothin: I agree with the spiders. The Cinderweb brooder exploit has gone out on my realm, and almost every hunter has one =/ Orange, I dont like that much, and even if I did, Solix gets killed too much. Deth, on the other hand, he is a trophy pet. I say congratz to every hunter I see with one. I am also, thinking of abandoning Karoma. I personally dont like her model, and only tamed her for the heck of it.

Since I have tamed Ban'thalos and Ankha since this post, I am now actually TRYING for Skitter just to do the challenge. If someone tames it, fine, I just want to know I can do the challenge successfully. Thats what matters to me. I don't care about their skins. I'll go out and tame a red spider if someone else tames Skitter from me, as long as I am allowed to complete the challenge. If someone else taps him with tame once I have him tamable, thats fine. I just don't like them breaking my traps and ruining my challenge attempts.

You are not a terrible hunter. In fact I'm rehoming like 4 (Karkin, Solix, Skitter, Kirix) to my baby hunter because I'm less bonded with those.

Im also thinking about abandoning Karoma. I dont want to have spirit beasts taking up nine of my stables slots. So i was trying to figure out what criteria to use to decide. First i figured get rid of ones with ununique models (Gondria, Ankha, and Magria) and then keep just one of each "family": Cat, Wolf, Bear, Bird and Crab. The Cat will obviously be Loque, and for wolf Skoll is simply too stunning and ive bonded with him much more closely. So thats when Karoma will have to go. Havent gotten around to it but soon. ooh too soon.

@Arrothin: I'm not abandoning my spirit cats because I LOVE them (I have a fluent RP with my friends going on, and it requires Gondira, Ankha, Magria). Along with Loque/Skoll. But Karoma has to kinda go =/ Along with a few others. But I am keeping 6 of my spirit beasts. I am also thinking of abandoning my Green Lava spider (because of the Brooder exploit*) and my bone spider who I dont care for that much. If I dont bond with the pet, they get the boot. I might rehome them to another hunter alt later on, but who knows.
I rehomed a Magria last night, so I was happy about that ^_^

*This is a realm exploit more to less because of others telling the Brooders are up, tame a faux-Kirix without the work! (Gotta love goblins =/ )

The broodlings aren't being tamed by an exploit; they're flagged as tamable.

@Kalliope: Well, I shouldn't say exploit, but I should say for people on my server, "A way of taming the rare but not doing the work" as I was told by another hunter. I've attempted to tame Kirix in the past, and have been .00001 seconds from taming till a mage interrupted, and his group SOMEHOW, killed Kirix......and then now I submit to Irony, and I ended up taming the brooder. But oh well, I was happy till more and more people showed up with "Kirixes" So now I am thinking of releasing him.

*nod* Not going to get into a debate over the worthiness of the broodlings, etc., since I'm of a different mindset regarding them; just wanted to make the distinction that while taming them may not seem "fair" to some, it's not an exploit.
