How Often Do You See This?

Unread post by Neverforever »

After many years of playing my Hunter Alt, I've fallen in love with a lot of pet skins. I love the rush of finally taming that rare pet that I've been searching for so long. I took a look at my stable today, and realized that almost every pet in it is rare.
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/a ... t#13043634
I've tamed all the new challenges, but gotten rid of the dual model skins (With the exception of Kirixx). I've tamed everything from Wrath and Cata, and even other rares like Chromaggus and the Mulgore BurningBacon fire boar. I kind of wish there was more stable slots so I could have kept them all.

But, the point is, has anyone else taken the time to go through and tame almost all of them? A lot have been released from my stable, of course, but I had never really reflected back on the amount of time I've spent rare hunting until now. I'd love to hear about yours. =)

Actually, about 85% of my stable is full rares. I have also, released some pets, but some of them, Like Sian Rotam and Humar the pride lord have perma spots in my stable. I have yet to get Chomo =/

Almost all my stables are Cata rares and WOTLK rares. I have one vanilla mob (bugged wolf with a sword stuck in his head) that I won't ever get rid of.

I've tamed most all of the unique skinned rares at some point or another on my main, aside from the lava spiders-I'm just not that into them, my little Kirix-wannabe is good enough for me. I've culled out some here and there along the way-getting rid of some of my spirit beasts hurt!-but there are a few common skinned creatures that I really like too.

There's one pet I'll never get rid of. Shy-Rotam. That cat is my pride, my joy. I've had her since I first did the quest in vanilla when Shy was a quest-rare. Shy is now very common, and I'm sad about that, but I'm happy to say that my Shy is a rare Shy. :)

I've nowhere near filled my stables yet, but I only have one maybe two normal pets. Else, I have;
Green Maddexx, Skoll, Gondria, Shy-Rotam, King Krush, Terrorpene. I'm not very lucky with rares, so I'm blessed to have these if any at all.

im not a rare hunter but a hunter whos addicted to the skins that are given to rares xP if there could be a common skin for all the pets i plan to tame each time on my hunters as i make them, id tame the common if the rare one itself isnt up (i still like the idea that i got the rare-timer one when i tame a rare thats using a common model lol)

A LOT of my pets are rares. And the ones that aren't are unique-skinned beasts. ;)

13/25 rares
7/25 named mobs (but not rare) They're unique, but easy to find.

I'd say maybe 5 "normal" pets (if you can consider a two-headed bird, a devilsaur, a warp stalker and a parrot normal)

I'm a rare hunter... eventually ever last rare will be tamed by me. I has 2 level capped hunters (will one is lv 84 waiting for madexx to spawn after that she is capped), and after that I'm level 6 more hunters totally in 200 stable slots over all. Granted each of them has a RP story otherwise I don't think I could ever do it. >.>

So far I have tamed every wrath/cata rare(with the exception of terror spinner and icehorn which I set aside of my baby hunters to tame. All the unique pets (flaming boar, oil covered bird and worg, ghost wolf with sword in his head, extremely ghostly 2 head carrion bird. At one point I even had the extremely tiny beetle. (D****T BLIZZARD WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY BEETLE! I HATE YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT!).Had the worgen pet at one point(again blizzard screwed that over). Missed the slime and hydra pets though.

I didn't get addicted to rare hunting until the beginning of Wrath, when I found Petopia and saw Old Cliff Jumper. I thought he was just absolutely beautiful and though I had the common red wolf skin, I wanted OCJ soooooo much. I spent HOURS camping him with zero luck, and eventually moved on to camping the Northrend spirit beasts. Sitting here now and realizing how much camping I've actually done, I feel a little crazy! There are still some rares who continue to haunt me, like Loque and King Krush, as well as Deth'tilac.
Sometimes I come across rares by accident (like Aotona) and will give them a try if nobody else is in the area looking for the tame. More often than not, I find myself giving up common-skin pets to make room for rares. There is something really special about going out on the hunt for that rare skin you love so much, or even just knowing that you have the rare version when an easier skin is available.
Right now in my stables, Old Cliff Jumper, Ankha, Rak'shiri, Arcturis, Skoll, Terrorpene, Skoll, Humar, Shadowclaw, Duskstalker and Deathmaw have permanent slots. I can't help it! Sometimes I wish I had more stable slots, but I realize most of my pets would probably never get used if that were the case. As it is, I'm kind of addicted to the saber cat skin, and I have a crazy number of them in my stables. I have to rotate my pets weekly so that every pet has a chance to fill my tank, spirit beast, and 3 dps active slots.
For the most part, those of us who are here on this forum play hunters because we're completionists or insane! We love the rush of finding a rare pet, and we actually feel bonded to those pixels. There are, of course, those hunters who have rolled the class just because of the dps, and select pets for the same reason. I think for the most part those hunters aren't often found here. Sometimes I can fall in love with a pet skin and bond with it instantly. That's just how it works and I'm not sure a lot of other classes understand that feeling.

All of the pets in my stable are rare spawns, except for my Springpaw Stalker from BC :) I was a level 33 draenei hunter roaming around EPL, no idea where the portal to Ghostlands was, and I spent hours trying to get Clash so I can't bring myself to get rid of him! He has a permanent spot in my stable. I spent so much time grinding to get him up to my level too, and by the time I was 70 I realized he was only 54! hehe

LOL! I have done this over three hunters now. Dwarf, Orc, and Worgen. I camped and tamed 3x the Loques, King Krushes, Gondrias, Aotonas, Arcturis, and the list goes on. I finally made the choice this last patch to start choosing pets that fit the specific hunter. I would never use Ghostcrawler on any of my hunters, and Karoma just didn't fit my Dwarf as well as it fit my Worgen. Gondria stayed with my Dwarf, but I let him go on the Worgen to tame the 2 new spirit cats (renamed them TigreAngel after my since passed cat Tigs, and Bodmin for Magria, after the moors in England where all the ghostly black cats are seen, Cryptozoology anyone?) Some pets as much as i hate to say it, rare as they are, once I catch 'em, they don't always gel with the hunter I tame them with. I love all my stable kids, but, sometimes, letting them back where they came from (which is what I do, I take them to their place of orgin and release them back where they feel safest :) ) maybe, just maybe, they'll find the hunter that will give them the proper time they deserve. :D

You know, I look at you guys and think, "Y'all must have the patience of a Saint or something Holy Beyond Comprehension", because I've never been one to camp a spawn. I'm way too ADD to sit and camp a spawn point for a tamable rare in game. I did my 40 hours with Loque, and I have my Gondria, too. I'm good for now.

Funny thing, my stable was just like that a few days ago, and I ended up abandoning a bunch of them. x.x That isn't to say my stable isn't mostly made up of rares/uniques - it is. But I tried to throw a few common skins in too.
I like hunting rares, so I can totally relate to the need to fill your stable with rare pets! But I find that I don't usually like the pet... >.<

I have to admit, even with the pets I have, I don't like some of them. I like 'cute' and 'attitude-full' pets. Which means my King Krush will be leaving me. As for Maddexx, I'm not sure I want him to leave until I get a few more cata rares. Like Magria and such.

My WoW BFF crossface07 up there definitely has the patience of a saint! He out-patiences (I know it's not a word!) me, even. He waited an insanely long time for his Magria to spawn, rehoming a million and one Anhkas (including mine) in the process. He's also been encouraging me not to give up on my camps even when I feel like it's not going anywhere and I get bored and ADD. Some hunters are just crazy patient and able to park their toons and wander away to do other stuff. I'm not so good at that but I do try.

About all of my stables are rares and / or unique pets; only Tilo has flaming boar, all have Oozeworm back when it was a two plus day camp, & king krush before the tame change.

I dunno' I look at other hunter stables with just five or a few pets & I think "Awww, that stable looks so empty..." hehe

Regarding patience whew I've got a ton of it, most I ever spent campin' was my Pinchy red Madexx on Tilo, a whole bloody week to have red spawn on sunday 0.o. hehe
