New betta fish in need of a name.

Unread post by azurelith »

So my sister went with me to the pet store and this little guy caught my eye. He was in the very back behind all the other bettas. I had previously owned 10 bettas(all at once) and it was just too much to deal with. I decided that it would be okay to have just one so my sister bought him for me.
Now this little guy is in need of a name. Any suggestions?

XD the tank is still a bit bubbly in these pictures.

He's... Beautiful! I'm a fellow betta fan 'ere :D Have had three so far, but never ten at once (Wow!). Vinegar (Chocolate betta), Viper (red) and Vernicose (My current rather fetching pink-and-blue Cambodian)
All o' mine have followed a sort of.. V-name theme, I guess. But largely they've been nameless for a bit and then suddenly a name popped up that seemed to fit their character and coloration and such.

Strata? Sleet. Abalone. Albus. Shiver. Lucian. Albi. Er. Errr.. Rubbish at thinking up names on ze' spot.

*Oogles pretty fishie*

He's gorgeous! I'm terrible at coming up with names for my fish [my orange guy is STILL nameless!] so I just have to wish you luck with that one!. X]

Do you mind me asking what your tank setup is? I always get curious what everyone else has, since most people I know don't have bettas or keep them in crappy .5 gallon unheated water vases. >__>;;

I dont know why but the first few names that popped to mind was "Envy" or "Uttu" (Uttu means hunter in Alaskan native) He is very handsome. Such a intresting color, I had a red male named Solar and a blue/while female named Lunar. :) I love bettas

Thank for your help guys. I really like your name suggestions. My sister ended up naming him for me ><. Apparently he is now going by the name Artemis, after the white cat from the Sailor moon anime.

As for the setup, in this picture he is just in a cheap .5 gallon tank but we have since upgraded him to a 1.5 gallon tank with a filter. It doesnt have a heater but im thinking about getting one. The problem though is that he keeps seeing and attacking his relection on the sides of the tanks so im thinking of buying a backdrop for it.

The heater should be the top priority for the better rather than a filter, as they naturally live in very very warm climates, their lifespawns get cut down so badly by being in cold water. :(

I've had about 8 bettas at once before, I had two males in seperate 5 gallon filtered and heater tanks, and a sorority of 6 females in my
55 gallon. I had an albino female, but she passed passed away when some plants carried fin rot into my tank. x_x
