Déjà vu

Unread post by Katalenna »

This is my friendly Blue bird from Sholazar Basin. I have had her since Wrath and she was one of my first rares from Northrend hence the name Treasure. I used her alot back in the day and today i saw another fellow member here with the same pet and same name and just made me smile.

Image

I wonder how often do you guys run into people who have the same exact pet as you with the same exact name?

P.S. Sorry this is the first time i have posted any kind of pic here. So i apologize in advance for there bigness.

AND a fellow Petopian? That's even funnier!

I've seen a number of other white corehounds named Cerberus around - ditto this for red hellhounds. Another hunter had a blue chimaera named Bellerophon back when I still had mine (though we had tamed different chimaeras; mine was from Winterspring, his from Northrend). I've seen other bears named Ursa, but not black bears.

Considering that my naming scheme isn't exactly unique, I'm surprised that I haven't seen more overlaps.

Whoa
That's awesome o3o;

Well, I can believe it might be common for people to have Gondrias named Gondria. I've seen three people with Madexx's named Madexx, but that's cause it's just the mob's name.
I've honestly never seen someone with one of my pet's names before.

Also, what kind of UI is that? Looks like it's made for a game controller... how does it work o-o

I would assume naming pets for their tamable namesake doesn't count. ;) *eyes Chitter* Would have mentioned him otherwise. :D

I'm more likely to notice when player names match my pet names. With that being said, I think it would be statistically impossible for there to Not be another Jadefang named Emerald on my server. :)

Does cross-server count? Because my troll on Wyrmrest Accord has Karoma, named Kachina, and on Sisters of Elune I ran into a blood elf whose Karoma was also named Kachina. Weirded me right out!

It is actually made for a game controller :) It consists of many add-ons (Mainly Macaroon, and Button facade) and Joy to Key which is a 3rd party application used to simulate a mouse and keyboard with a controller. If my husband was not so technically inclined i would never be able to play WoW.

Back before Cat, when Dalaran was the normal main city, I often ran into a Night Elf Hunter who named her Gondria "Myst"-- the amusing part was that we both did PVP, so we had the same armor, weapons, and pet... it tickled me, and I hope, her. ;D

I've never seen anyone with pets that have the same names as mine. Then again, everyone on my server just names all their rares the same name as it was as a mob. There's like a hundred, Skarr's, Magria's, Kirix's, etc. I never name my pets after their mob name. If I spend the time to camp and tame something then I want it personalized.

I've seen one person with the pink tallstrider named Floyd on my server, aside from that I have not seen anyone else with the same pet + same name.

Seen a few people with my Loque'nahak's name, Myst. It used to be Mystral, and I've seen that on a Loque before too.

Seems I'm not as original as I thought. :P

My Skoll is named Mjolnir after the hammer of Thor. Never, ever seen a pet with that name, nevermind a Skoll with the same name.

Naming stuff after anything of Thor's is a bad idea unless you want your pet to be dumb. :D

Anyway, I'd give you half my stables for Aotona, and I have almost all the rares.
Part of Dark Magics, lvl 25 Horde guild, casual, helpful, don't raid, mostly help people and hunt pets.
Part of Dynasty, lvl 25 Alliance guild, casual and hardcore (your choice, no one forces you to raid, but you can), very helpful
Come on over if interested (Runetotem US, Horde name Sarantha, Ally name Ellysetta or Valeraud)

I thought it also sounded rather Vrykul-like, which is what those types of worgs remind me of since I first saw them in WotLK in the Howling Fjord. ;)

High. Friggin. Five. If Im in a particularly foul mood, I'll /rolleyes at a pet named after itself. You aren't carting the rare along behind you, it's your pet now.

The only pets I did this for was Kirix and Solix, since I was so fond of their names already. Deth'tilac got his own name though, Spinel. I also can't seem to decide on whether Deth'tilac is male or female. I know there's nothing to say so, but I'm guessing he/she is the mate of Beth'tilac? And Beth'tilac, I think, is female? So Deth could be male. Yes.
