Onyxia solo + Onyxian Drake

I got bored yesterday so i decided to record me doing a Onyxia solo. It was my quickest, but also my worst attempt. So you may laugh at my misfortune or call me fails cause I am fails. Plus I also put a segment of me on the onyxian drake that I earned 2 months ago.

you got lucky with that mount drop. its rare as hell. only recently seen 2 people with it since cata dropped. i imagine both players ninjad it. i havent attempted a solo of onyxia yet. i was annoyed at soloing voa cos the boss kept knocking my pet through the floor and i would have to tank it for a while until my pet respawned.

i read there is a specific timing needed for to feign death to make sure the big adds dont come. what spec would you recommend? ive always solod in BM spec since that was the best in wotlk. But MM looks good for the readiness incase i fail on the fd. also the mount drops in 10 and 25 right? and does she have an enrage? its been an age since i did ony.

also i used to have that ui. lame they didnt update the hunter part for it to be orange and not the mana blue for the focus bit.

Yeah. I tried with just me and failed. Tried with me and a boomkin and failed. Then tried with a boomkin and DK and almost didn't fail, but still failed.

....IT'S THE WHELPS OMFG.

I usually feign death before the big adds try to get into the room, and i make sure to have my pet in the far back of the room cause even if you feign death, if your pets close to them, they will come back and go after the pet. The whelps can be a handful. I remember when i first tried to solo onyxia, the whelps always ended up killing me. I've watched other onyxia solo videos to where the hunter sets a explosive trap near him and when the whelps hit that trap, it Misdirects the dmg to the pet and the whelps go after the pet. About what spec would be good for soloing, its MM or SV. I picked SV cause with the multi-shots, I can apply serpent stings to all the whelps thanks to the Serpent Swiftness talent point, making the whelps go down faster.

well i tried. i didnt know whether you skipped the trash or not. so i tried to kill one of the mobs. pfff they hit hard. so i skipped. i couldnt keep my pet up cos i didnt have the mend pet glyph on >.>. so i went back to org and got it. then i came back. i managed to get into p2. whelps and big add came so i hit feign death. whelps continued towards me despite me being in fd and attacked me. -__- . i cba trying again tonight.

I didn't have the mend pet glyph on and he stayed alive with me forgetting to heal him a few times. Just make sure that when you switch specs -- not only do YOU have to respec youself and give that other spec glyphs, you have to respec your pets.

I failed once because I forgot my main spec was BM and I switched to MM for more DPS and realized all my pets had to be respecced. :3

i never have to change glyphs. i was BM and MM and i changed MM to SV and my old SV glyphs were there. and my pet never loses their talent points. even though i read they are supposed to when you take them out of the stable.

That was a stupid, useless idea and Blizzard knew it (take pet from stable, take ~2 seconds to respec, carry on like nothing happened), thus that was removed, either in beta or shortly after Cata was released.

Wait, they respec when you put them in and take them out of the stable? I thought it was only when to changed YOUR spec (like BM to MM [just switching, not respeccing]?)

They USED TO. They don't, because as I said, Blizzard realised it was useless. They don't (or mine don't) even reset their talent when you swap specs

Sigh, tried this a bunch of times, and failed miserably. Somehow the big adds will eventually end up going after my pet anyway, even though I feign them off when they enter the room and my pet is at the opposite edge of the room.. That coupled with me being unable to kill the whelps before a new batch spawns, and it's a no-go. I'm currently MM, but thinking of giving SV a go, even though I would have to sacrifice most of my self heals...

That's a pretty sweet looking UI - I've been looking for something that displays health and energy near the rest of the buttons.

Is it customizable?

Also where are your bags / mini bar?

On the UI, they are hidden on the far bottom right of the screen next to the orb that displays the focus, rage, mana, energy, and runic power. The orbs are customizable by the color and the animation in them. The ones I'm using are the class default setting. The mini bar is at the very top of the screen in the middle. Both the bags and the mini bar are hidden, you gotta go into the OUF folder, open the lua file and change it to where it will show them.
