Seen many alliance and horde kill rare spawns simply because "Didn't want the horde/alliance to get him" (Their own words when asked.)
I never realized people took this whole factions thing so seriously. :S I mean, we're all the same, we're all hunters here and we all just want to get that shiny rare. Why cause trouble because someone prefers to play a goblin instead of a human? An orc instead of a night elf?
A few nights ago I found Skarr and was holding off on dailies to find someone to come tame him. A worgen shows up, and so does a blood elf. I can't communicate with alliance without logging onto my alt, and the blood elf arrived first, so I explained the strat to her and she tried once, died. As she was running back to her corpse, a night elf warrior swoops in and kills him, nearly dying herself-- I was pretty pissed off at this point, explained to the belf that the cat had been killed, and logged over to alliance. As politely as I could, I asked the night elf why she killed the rare, while I was signalling for her to stop with various emotes. /no, /wait, etc. Her response? "Didn't want a hordie to get 'im."
I've seen various other people in general chats telling people to kill the rares when alliance are trying to tame, but that one with Skarr annoyed me the most, since I tried to get her to stop and someone only had one shot at taming..
Sadly, there's a member of my guild who thinks this way as well..it's pretty much: steal the tame if you can, and if an alliance gets close to it, it's dead.
I just don't get it.
