Karkin

I tamed Karkin last night and I can seem to settle on his name... I've been mulling a few over:

Daiyu - japanese for Black Jade
Rupee - for the red gem on the back that sorta of reminds me of the currency in the Zelda games

So far I've liked Daiyu the best, but can't quite justify it with that giant red stone on his back. I was sort of hoping for a name emphasized his stony exterior, but also acknowledged the bright gem on his back.

Any suggestions?

I actually like Daiyu as well. He doesn't HAVE to be named for the gem either.

Rather than thinking of the red spot on the back as a different material, it could just be red-hot!

Onikisu, onikkisu, or Shimamenou all mean various forms of Onyx (shiny black stone) in japanese. Koukigyoku means ruby. Zakuruishi means garnet, another red gem. Kane,Metaru,and Kinzoku all mean "metal" or "metallic" and Karkin does have a bit of a metallic look about him.
