Kirix taming hotfixed???

Tried taming Kirix today standing on the rock, and on three attempts where I didn't get interrupted or stunned, he evaded at the end of the tame. Did they change something? I've done this before with deterrence/haste pot/tame, and didn't have a problem.

Since I don't have the wardens done yet on this toon, I stopped after the third, too many deaths from falling and too much of a repair bill.

I tamed him successfully, on the first try, no haste buffs used, using the rock method only 5 or so days ago. So unless they fixed it today, it should still be working fine.

It's not a nerf. It's a hotfix. Please change the title so it's not misleading.

I wonder if this means the ledge will be changed too? I didn't want to evade bug him, I only knew the ledge method.

I noticed that there are two different rocks from where you can reach him. I was there several times to watch Kirix killing party and lots of failed tames while trying to rehome it.
Im the Rehoming room I posted a screenshot with marked rocks. One rock where I saw him evade the tame always after it finished and on rock from where I tamed him, my fiance tamed him and the orc, I rehomed him to, tamed him.

This is the pic where I marked the "evade rock" (purple). The dart shows in the direction where I tamed it. I'll logg in to wow and look for coordinates and put them in with a second edit and probably a better pic of the rock.

If you are on the correct rock you have the wind buff, so be careful with moves.
I tamed Kirix for my fiance with two hunters, he himself was Bm and popped Hysteria from his corehound, I was in MM and silenced Krix' cast (it works like a charm) and fd after this.

Well, I can confirm that Finduilas's pic is accurate, at least in that the wind rock and the one directly next to it are safe to tame from. I'll try from Skarr's old rock the next time I see him on Nesingwary.

He is definitely still tamable from Skarr's old rock.



One shot the tame; had both the wind buff and ancient hysteria.

So yeah, it seems as though nothing has been changed; we're just seeing more hunters who are failing to do the tame correctly.

Just a few days ago a guildie came out to try and tame Kirix. I told him about the rock trick and he tried it, several times. When he finally managed to get the tame off, it evaded and he gave up and went about his dailies. I stood there with another guildie and watched fail and fail attempt and the skeletons piled up on the rock until finally one of the tames went off. It just seems like it's random. Either it works or it doesn't. I was really tempted to try taming it straight up because I wanted to see if I could, but I really didn't want it and didn't want to take it away from one of the other hunters trying to tame it.

Kirix evade bugged with me on several different occasions before I finally got him. It just... happens with him. He's an asshole like that.

I do have a question though: even if Blizz DID make it so that Kirix can't be tamed from a floating rock, how else would he be tamed? I've only ever heard of the rock method.

On his little ramp spot, of course.

Tame to pull him > Let him knock you up in the air > Disengage in the air > Potion of Speed > Deterrence on ground > Tame

It seems to me though, that Blizzard would not have excluded hunters that do not have good enough gear from taming Kirix, and this is apparently impossible for them on his ledge. All other tames are fine no matter how moderately geared you are, provided you are level 85. So it seems somewhat odd to me that they would want to purposely stop hunters who don't go to heroics or dungeons (or PvP seriously) from taming the spider of their dreams. That's why I don't think it's hotfixed, or that it ever will be.

It's not stopping hunters. I helped a hunter in all greens(aside from the one epic you buy from Matoclaw) tame Kirix the right way(not the glitch evade rocks). He almost died but he pulled it off. So it's not preventing anyone from taming him.

I stood on the rock that Kalli was on in the above pictures, I simply used my core hound for heroism and poped tame. Mind you I had around 15% haste already so this helped. Had my tame been a half a second longer I wouldn't of been able to pull it off.

The point of these mobs was to have to do some interesting maneuvers to make the tame successful. Standing on a ledge or a rock and bypassing the mechanics was not what they intended for these mobs.

So, I hope they do hotfix it so you can't tame him from the ledge; there are the broodlings if you want a green spider sans mussyfussy tame method. After I stopped panicking and shaking and trying to tame him with only 50% hp, I tamed him the proper way and ended with ~30% hp. It wasn't terribly hard, but it did require me to calm down. My bf did it on his 3rd try, since his goofy butt forgot the nature aspect. You don't need full heroic t12 to do this tame; having all greens going out there would make even the dailies hard, they're tuned assuming you have at least a 333/346 mix of gear. So yeah, taming him in greens as was mentioned is possible, just not recommended.
