Skarr spawned on the rocks right by Fireplume ridge. I died a few times while freaking out, and when I respawned below on the ground, an alliance druid killed him. I admit I went overboard by whispering the person and asking them why they did it. I should have moved on. IT IS just a game. It really is. Skarr is pretty much the only one I had been camping for, and when he finally spawned, a member of my own faction destroyed him. They told me they didn't see anyone...I was right below him..D: There were three hunters on at the time.

Skarr and Karkin die so much on my server. People on Runetotem have the IQ of a banana peel. They think if its shiny, it must DROP EPIX!!!!!!!

Accidentally killed Skitterflame while helping someone tame him. We were partied and we ended up dropping too many traps. Mine was the trap that ended big red's life. /cry

I feel bad for him! I didn't MEAN to kill him! The other hunter was sad, but said oh well, it'll spawn again, and just hopped off into the abyss or whatever. Literally. She jumped to her death off the edge of the world. Unless she had done druid dailies and was saved by them.

Grr. Just saw Skarr die on my server, and earlier I met a nice hunter who really wanted him... Griefers...

Tried helping a hunter rehome Solix. I had to go eat dinner, this hunter didn't know too much about taming him, and ended up dropping his energy too low and killing him. Poor orangey Fireass. Thats him and Skitter today. Also, I think Anthriss was killed earlier. There were lots of skeletons around her spawn point.

I was watching Loque for a friend as he had to come from the molten front. The goblin warlock sees me with Loque and just wails on it. Doesnt stop at all til he's dead. Was a lvl 85 warlock too. Didn't even loot him so I could skin him in respect.

I was trying to find a home for Deth but no one wanted him, so I was going to go help someone tame fire raptor pet, and my NPCscan goes off for Anthriss... and it's her, but she's dead. The last MF beast I need to tame.

Well thankfuly mine isnt someone killed her but A few nights ago I can acrost Deth....first time seeing her wondrful wild self...so excited I asked in guild if people could come to help me (normaly a really good guild about that) but there was a huge FireLands raid going so only one person was free....so sadly I had to take a few screan shots and hope someone homed her.

Wanted to add a nice twist to this, the very next night while doing arch grinding I seen Ashtail wandering (I have him already but know of two hunter in the guild who want him) so I posted in guild and sure enough one of the guildies was on and gladly took a sum to tame...happy with my re-homeing I headed on with my grinding stopping in Twilght and...all alone as if wating for me was Simbus!!!! I have been looking for him and had two tames killed right befor me. Couldnt believe my eyes..landed and tamed my wonderful handsome Envy (named that for how long I had wanted him) So even know I missed Deth karma came back for me the next night with another much wanted tame. Still hoping to find Deth once more to add to my stable

I was taming Anthriss, he just happened to show up on my dailies route. I don't particularly want him, but he was there, and I knew how, so I tried.

He was killed during the tame by a same faction guild group, led by their gm.

We didn't exchange any words, and I'm not one for raging... so I just reported them all and put them on ignore.

Update: the GM who responded thought I was complaining about the opposite faction and gave me the standard "PvP on a PvP server" form letter.

I replied to clarify of course. This shall not stand!

Update 2: Another GM responded more encouragingly, with apologies and pledging to investigate the matter in detail. After filling out the survey, I posted the following feedback:

Thanks XXXXX, for taking a closer look into this. To be fair, it's possible XXXXX and their guild may have thought they were helping me, but I've heard too many horror stories about guilds actually going around killing rares to frustrate hunters in the act of taming them, same faction or not. In the hunter community we encourage each other to report such incidents so that griefers get a history.
I'm sure you may have received similar requests, but one thing many hunters would like is a mechanic that will allow them to finish a tame without being griefed. For example, making the beast an invalid target (friendly/neutral) to other players once the tame is underway. The taming hunter could still be targeted and hit by the opposite faction if flagged for PvP. I understand this may be an unreasonable demand on the developers who have more important issues to deal with, but it's a sincere desire I share with many hunters.
Again, thanks very much for your attention to this issue.

I gave up trying to tame Skarr, Karkin, and Deth'tilac. Just been focusing on my noob hunter. Hopefully she'll have better luck. :/

Can't wait until this place has 1/4 the people in later patches -- or even in later expansions.

Anthriss was killed by two alliance paladins who thought she was "an achievement mob" when I asked why they killed her. /sigh

Blizz needs to put something in so people know these new mobs are not part of an achievement or that they do not drop EPIX!

Better yet, make it where you can't see the mobs unless you're phased into that particular part. :/ I think that'll beat the crowds, too.

It wouldn't stop the gankers who ARE phased, though. Sadly.

Lots of people on these forums and the hunter forums on the Blizz official site think the pets should be phased for only hunters. No one else can see/interact with them. In a way, I agree, but also kind of disagree. I help people alot with these pets on my druid or DK and couldn't help them if they were phased so only hunters could see them. Of course, these are CHALLENGE tames for HUNTERS, and using druid roots on Solix or Skitterflame completely negates the challenge, so again, I sort of agree.

Long sad story. I did my molten front dailies with my Tauren, I was almost done, had checked the rar points when Deth pops up. No one around, I try to motion a nelf to follow me, but she ignores me, I whisper severals hunters in the area, nobody wants him, I ask friends, no one wants him, I ask hunters in hyjal, no one wants him. Finally I find a troll hunter really wanting him. I explain the "send pet in" method to him, we try. first time reset, because it just didn't work. The next three times Deth buggs out, when the Troll tries to tame her. I had no aggro, didn't do dmg, my pet was dead, his was released. But the tame always breaks not only after one second. Then an alliance druid looks in during our third try. He tries to dps Deth, but as I told, he bugged and resets. Then a hunter from the druid's guild shows up, tries to tame, but fails (naturally with Deth and 100% life). Then an other ally hunter and a warrior show up. They all seem to be in group and dps Deth. 20 MINUTES! Nobody of them seems to have a clue how to do it. The troll and I did several /shoo emotes, but they just /spat on us. Hey there, we were here first! I tell the troll, that he should prepare for tame, caus I have the feeling Deht is going to eat the druid and warrior and die. The tame doesn't work and breaks, because alliance keeps hitting Deth like morons. Deth kills the warrior then aims for one of the hunters pets, kills it and is dead. Then the hunter with the pet out just does a /spit at me. I didn't do a thing! I feel bad, because it didn't work for the troll, he was really disappointed and left kind of broken. WHY can they not just keep their hands off a pet, when they have NO CLUE WHAT TO DO??? I'm so angry, it didn't even help my mood, that I was able to help my fiance get Magria after this.

Sad story from me, from the alliance and horde sides.

Solix was up. I was doing Deadmines on my horde hunter, just hoping to see the Albino spawn. A hunter in channel asks if he can kill it. I ask him if I can first try and find someone to tame it. I asked on alliance and horde side in general. An orc female shows up, dies a few times. I had, at this point, logged onto my alliance druid to root Solix for her. I was emoting for her to pull him etc. The asshole who asked if he could kill Solix pulls him and starts kiting him. Solix was around half energy. I root Solix so the orc could tame him. But the asshat breaks my roots and keeps kiting Solix, eventually KILLING HIM in front of another horde hunter who had wanted to tame him. I was so angry that I cussed him out and made lots of rude emotes. Luckily, it only came out as common gibberish to him, so he couldn't report me. When I logged back on my horde hunter, he says he killed it because he was poor and needed the 25g. WHAT THE FUCK! (pardon my language)

TWO dailies would get him that. And take much less effort than kiting Solix around. He also died 3 times in his attempt, which likely cost MORE than 25g. I was ready to strangle him. I just cussed him out again on my horde toon and put him on ignore. Also, now, almost my whole channel hates him and thinks he's a ganker. I told him I would pay him 100g to leave it alone. This was BEFORE he killed it, but no, in his stupid little dumbass eyes, killing it was worth more to him.

RUNETOTEM IS FULL OF DUMBFUCKS!!!!!

So Ive been wanting Hawkbane on my little lowbie Hunter...I finally got her to 70 today.

I head up there, NPC blares, and right as I land...a lvl 85 shaman of the same faction flops down and starts laying into him. And even though I yelled WAIT she didnt stop. She didnt even LOOT him. Nor said she was sorry. =(

50+ runs of Deadmines and I haven't SEEN a single Albino Eyegouger. Loads of Brilliant Macaws, Sunwings, and Monstrous Parrots, but NO ALBINO! I want this bird so bad, and I haven't even SEEN him. I'm almost ready to submit a ticket asking if he still spawns in regular Deadmines.
