I might have asked this before.....

Unread post by Hisae »

Good evening, everyone. How has your day been going? Mine has been relaxed and restful.I have two questions that I would loved answered and I would be grateful.

I am not sure if I have asked this before and I do apolgize if I have already. Is there anything against having one type of pet in your stable? What I mean is like having a stable full of just kitties, wolves, foxes, spirit beasts, etc. I find myself attrached to alot of cat pets more than any other pet in the game and I find myself taming ALOT of them, my especially favorite ones are the saber cats.

I am also thinking of releasing some pets in Starhope's stable so I can have a feeling of starting over so I can find Star's true companions. I thought the ones I have were it but some aren't clicking. I have Loquenahak, Skoll,Topaz (Shango) and I am not even finding myself liking Wintersong my dragonhawk I worked so hard to get from Sunwell. Even my tanking pet is not feeling right. I guess my question is, with so many rares and hard to obtain pets in my stable, should I let them go and see if I can find her new companions or should I keep them instead? I have read many of you have done this and I am considering doing the same. Starhope used to be my main hunter Solarii but I changed it for personal reasons and now that I have her back I feel I need a clean slate. I love you all so much for your support and I just want to make the right decision. Any feedback would be welcomed.

There is nothing against having a stable full of cats or wolves or the same skin shale spider, if you wanted. It's your stable, your hunter, play how you like. The only downside is that if you do dungeons, you won't have other buffs that could be used - but really, it's no big deal unless you raid.

As for your rares, if you're not feelin' em, write down their names, give 'em a hug, and let them go. Note the time so you can petition a GM if you change your mind, but if you don't like the pets you have now, rare or otherwise, there's no need to keep them around. :)

My undead hunter, Spiders, has a stable full of (you guessed it), spiders. xD There are 2 exceptions, a wasp and a scorpid so that I have at least one ferocity and one tenacity, but other than that...arachnid army ftw. :D My original plan was actually to tame one of each spider model that existed in game, but with the addition of the new lava spiders in 4.2 there are no longer enough stable slots to do that. Still, I'll grab most of them and try to have as diverse a collection as possible. :3

They're your characters and your stables. If you like a certain species, then go crazy. If you aren't looking to seriously min/max, it shouldn't matter what your stables look like as long as you enjoy your pets.

Don't let a rare guilt trip you into keeping it if you truly don't feel anything for it. They can be found again, or even restored sometimes, so if there are other pets you'd rather have there then I'd say let go of the ones you aren't feeling a connection with, no harm in it. :)

Agreed with nubhorns pretty much exactly. Nothing wrong with having all one family. You just won't have a selection of buffs to choose from, or the ability to say.. pick a tank pet so you can go solo some wrath heroics <.<

And same with the rares. Pick the skins you like. It's not like other people (okay, no other people that matter <.<) are gonna think less of you because you have, say, some random beach turtle instead of terrorpene, or something. Only exception is if you think you want a spirit beast in general.. keep the one you like the most, until you get the one you REALLY want. And that, I only say cause the heal is really nice in some situations, and they're all rare. But.. if you don't want a spirit beast, then yeah, don't feel obligated to keep any pet just because it's rare :)

Honestly, some rares aren't much of a status symbol anymore, considering how many people have them, heh. The ones I have, I got because I liked the skins/model more than the common options, and in my eyes, that's the way it should be :D

The only time that having a stable full of the same family would be "bad" would be, like others said, if you were raiding seriously and needed a wide variety of buff pets. If you play the game casually and you want to be the Crazy Cat Lady, then go for it! Pets can be anything you want them to be, and by that I mean: trophies to show off a well-fought tame, buff bots, questing companions, or adored friends. No playstyle is better or worse than the other; we all have our preferences and if yours is to have a stable full of cuddly kitties, then you are absolutely entitled to have it!

Thank you everyone.

I will clear my stable and start anew. I do wish to raid but with Star not really ready, I don't want to rush into it and get tames I never wanted in the first place. I know I can find Skoll, Gezz, Topaz, Loque, and Winter again if I decide I wish to have them. And they won't truly be gone, I have several screens of some of them in my screenshots so I can just go back and say hey I miss so and so, I think I will try and find them again. I really appreciate the advice and I hope you all have a wonderful day. :D
