Hahaha! Royi, that's such an awesome scene. Fluttershy is a BAMF. Short novel incoming...
I grew up on MLP--absolutely adored the shows and the toys. In regards to the animation discussion, I have to say that my
favorite animated version of the ponies was in the first movie,
Rescue at Midnight Castle. The storyline itself starts off happy and cheery, but quickly turns rather dark. The basic premise: an evil Tirak plans to capture and transform four ponies into demon dragons so they can pull his chariot (skip to ~9 minutes in the YouTube video). You might see some parallels between this and the Friendship is Magic pilot. I will forewarn you that it does have musical numbers in it (and super trilly voices), so I might just have a soft spot for it because I watched it when I was a little kid. I'll admit that I remember fast-forwarding through the songs even when I was 7.
I wasn't born yet when this movie first came out but when I was about 5-7 years old, I loved to rent this movie from the local video store. My parents humored me and let me rent it every week. I revisited the video store last year, and the same guy owned the place. I asked him if he still had the movie, and said that I'd like to rent it for nostalgia's sake. He was an absolute sweetheart, and said "I remember you! Tell you what, don't rent the video just yet. Come back tomorrow". I was a bit confused, but came back the next day. He'd burned a DVD of the movie for me and gave it to me as a gift. Still one of the best things I've ever been given.
I'm happy to see this new version of MLP out. It's definitely different, but it's been reworked in a great way. And the writing is really well done.

I agree with CrystalKitten--this series is addictive, haha!
