My little Tauren hunter now has more gold than my main! How, you ask? Well, it doesn't help that I keep blowing my gold on various vanity pets...but, vanity pets are Gryselde's salvation. There's this lovely little vanity pet called the Black Tabby that drops occasionally from a rare spawn in Silverpine. I managed to get THREE of them! And sold them, too. The price on the AH varies, but I had better luck selling them on the neutral AH, as it's the only way alliance can get this pet.
I will probably never get it to drop again, but she's got a very nice little nest egg.
You guys probably know about this already, but in case you don't:
You have to be horde (the mob is friendly to alliance) and I would say at least lvl 21 (higher=easier, though). Go to Silverpine and to an area called Ambermill. Go all the way to the back of the settlement, but not off to the left. There's a "town hall" type building there, and an "inn" type to the right and a cottage to the left, all within a walled area. This is where the rare mob, called a "Dalaran Spellscribe" spawns. There are three locations: bottom floor of the inn, in the main room of the town hall and inside the cottage. It's a lvl 21 mob and has quite a few friends, so if you are around the same lvl use some common sense of course.
The prize drop is the Black Tabby Cat Carrier, but you'll also end up with some fun wizard robes and accessories before it's all said and done.
It seems to be a fairly short re-spawn. I've read anywhere from 4 to 7 hours, and that seems about right. The carrier has a 25-30% drop rate, depending on who you ask.
I'm inordinately proud of myself!

Three of them you say? Well, grats on that! I've been trying to get one of those on my main for a little while...
Aren't unexpected nesteggs grand? Reminds me when I was a shiney, new lvl 51, and the Staff of Jordan dropped off of a Whelp in the Badlands. My brother thought I was trying to trick him when I whisper linked it. The gold made off that sale paid for my fast land mount AND basic flying. Back when it was still expensive!
Hang on to that gold, and it'll do you wonders down the road. ;D
