That must be one of the ones from Storm Peaks. When they get attacked by the Frost Wyrms, they play dead :P

Haha, I love it! So what happens in combat? Does he get up or continue acting like a doormat?

I have to tame this rhino at some point, that's hilarious.

The method:

1) Pick a Rhino - a lone rhino, Bull or Simple one. The drakes seem to go after the ones in groups less. If your Rhino is in the middle of the field, it has a higher chance of being killed.
2) Drop a freeze trap. This is to keep it from ripping you apart over an extended period of time.
3) Tame.
4) The tricky part. You must get the Dragon to kill the Rhino you are taming just about as the tame finishes. If you see a dragon descending for the kill and you start your tame, you are too late. They kill in about 2 seconds. My technique? Constant taming and Dragonkin tracking. I keep spamming tame, and jump to break it if it's about to finish and there's no ice blast in sight. If you see a dragon dot pause above your rhino, don't break the tame.

IT REQUIRES IMMENSE PATIENCE. It took me about 45 minutes or so I believe.

The pet can be dismissed and resummoned and it retains its dead appearance. The pet cannot attack or move. It cannot camoflauge either, but it can BW for some odd reason. It is purely for lolz.

Speaking of lolz, if you fly up, dismount, and call your pet, he will remain frozen in air. Highly humorous. Pic enclosed.

Hero says people say his has no HP, while mine has a full bar. He killed his dragon that tried to carry away the pet, I summoned mine when it despawned in the dragon's claws. However... Mobs will not attack this pet. It is as if it is a corpse.

New: If you summon the Rhino in a place that it will die (like lava or somesuch), it will become a normal Rhino. If we are to assume it is in the 'fragile' appearance buff family, if you die with this pet out, it will most likely revert to normalcy with your death as well.

There are the mastiffs in WPL that carry a fox in their mouths for a little bit, would be funny to get one to keep that. x)

The foxes are a seperate NPC though, so I don't think it'd work, similar to the rhinos in SB, with the birds on their horn; they fly away when tamed, or attacked. (The former assuming you ice trap it to prevent it from running)

True, but it might work for the dead foxes. Anyway, update on what I'm trying so far: Waiting for a dragon to descend then casting doesn't work. They kill too quickly. The best trick so far seems to be taming, FD, taming, waiting a bit, then moving on. They seem to go after the lone rhinos rather than pack more often. Tricky tame.

NEW UPDATE:

The lone rhinos in the middle of the fields seem to have the best killrate. What I'm trying now is freezing the rhinos. If I see a dragon dot moving slowly or nearing my charge, I tame. Then I jump to interrupt if he's not interested.

Edit: Also managed to nab Skoll in the process. Eh!

Oh! Hero, you're still here. Tell me, how did you do it? Just random taming and one swoops down just as your bar dings? Can he attack, does it revert to a normal mode upon combat?

GOT IT! screencap inc.

He can't attack, like I was on a mount or something, and he doesn't move. I haven't tried reviving him or letting him die. More info on the way!

Oh hey Zorua, I actually saw you in Storm Peaks taming a rhino while I was doing my Argent Tournament dailies. I was wondering if you were trying to trick tame these but I didn't think you were on this forum.

Tried this on the Whitetail Fox, doesn't work. As soon as the fox is in combat, ie. being tamed, the Bullmastiff stop going after them.
