Usually, I don't have too bad a time with tames... today was the exception it seems, though...

My account went off a few hours ago. A friend whispered me about Deth'tilac being up, so I rushed over there... with only a few minutes left before my account went offline, I was cutting it insanely close, but we finally managed to whither that darn spider down just enough for me to start taming... when two mages of our own faction showed up, and started attacking Deth. We asked them to stop; the responses were "Not a hunter pet", "A different model means that much to you?", and "Spiders are pretty much worthless". They ended up killing him and leaving without even an apology.

I felt like screaming. Not a hunter pet? What? It's a "special" tame for a bloody reason! I don't care if they are worthless or not; I love the blue hues/tones on that model, what's it any business of a mage if I want it or not (no offense to mages who are actually decent and frequent this board)?

Augh. I think I'll just play my other characters for a while when my account is back on. X.x

For the record, spiders are not worthless (maybe they don't PvP), and Deth is by far the prettiest spider I have ever seen (my opinion, but the coloring is quite lovely), and DUH its a hunter pet!!! (Haven't they seen other hunters with it? I mean seriously, that was an ignorant thing to say) Just cause it can't be tamed from the start doesn't mean its not tamable (That was directed at you non-hunter folks who think Deth is not being a tamable pet, cause he is!) Those particular mages were really rude, and their own arguments were pretty misguided if you ask me. I especially disliked when they had the nerve to say that thing about a different model meaning that much to you, because it shouldn't matter to them if it means something to you or not. Thats just griefing.

Terribly sorry that this happened to you. Hopefully this setback won't keep you from someday taming this beautiful spider.

Been on my hunter a lot lately since I came back and started taming some of the "rare" pets. Got Skoll and Arcturis so far...I wanted the new blue ghost kitty Magria all day, and ended up seeing Ahnka just a minute ago. Stripped down, started taming. Pew pew arcane shot and I'm dead. Some horde hunter that already has the pet kills/laughs at me. :/ how lame

Luckily an alliance hunter piped up when I mentioned in chat (my hunter is a huuuuge baby so idk if it goes to someone elses main) that the pet is up and you just have to kill the hordie lording over it to get it. Shes dead, and an alliance now has the cat. Bittersweet but at least it isn't being used as a gank target now.

Solix was murdered by alliance (sigh, dicks of Runetotem society) while an orc hunter friend was in the middle of taming. Skarr and/or Karkin were murdered this morning and last night by alliance paladin/dks. Suck it, Runetotem alliance. You guys are the most immature of the immature. They also killed Deth, but for no reason whatsoever, no because anyone was trying to tame (no one ever wants Deth on my server). Gosh, I am too scared to try and tame or help with Deth anymore. I tried again today alongside an orc hunter and she ended up dead and my pet ended up killing it (by getting killed) before I could stop it. I hate that mechanic sooooo much!!!!!! Why does Deth have to be suicidal!? Like its so easy for him to die after you get him low enough, and the mistakes were mistakes. I mean, geez... this puts me off the idea of ever trying to help or try to tame it for myself. *growls* Such a pretty spider too.......

I tamed Deth pretty much alone, without even knowing that deaths of any type lowered its health. It took me 45 minutes to tame it due to my (at the time) awful dps and the lock who came in near the middle's awful dps. Deth is a very awesome spider and very worth taming. If you must, tame him alone when no one else is nearby and make sure NOT to kite him around the front of his spawn area, because he might aggro the Shadow Warden NPCs and that would be...lets just say bad.

Consolation: Some dwarf murdered my friend who was trying to tame Kirix when she was about 2 seconds from finishing her tame. She had left a BG to tame Kirix and had the unfortunate quality of being flagged when she came out. If she hadn't been flagged, and the dwarf hadn't been a douche, she'd have herself a lovely green spider. The dwarf ended up taming Kirix. /blames alliance for all bad shit thats ever happened, again.

I tried twice by myself before the orc showed up, and twice I failed. So I figured it was her turn so I was helping out. But at the end it got messed up cause she died, and I was left with my pet still out who got killed too. If I decide to ever do it again, I will use a trash pet I don't mind abandoning, when she died I had a shot but felt bad about abandoning my common yellow shale spider. I love her too much. Which made me freak out and she died which was the last 9% of Deth's health too. Meh, its just puts me off wanting to do it. I have my Kirix and Skarr, and I think I am done with MF tames for now... plus in 12 days my account expires and I won't be playing again for a while. None of my friends or brother or boyfriend play anymore and I find myself sitting alone hunting these pets, because aside from dailies its the only thing to do if I play at all.

Deth is pretty, I think its one of the prettiest of all the fire spiders, but I'm really liking my Kirix. Never thought I would end up with that one, or even grow to love it. So I don't really want Deth that badly either. At least not anymore, cause while Kirix isn't quite as pretty as far as coloring (not saying green looks bad) he just fits with Ney somehow.

I also happened to be in the same horde guild as this hunter (Its a big horde guild and I don't play horde alot so I don't know her, but she happened to be in Saelisa's guild, so when I swapped sides to write her a note I noticed) I ended up talking to her about it. I think I was more bitter about it than her. She was positive enough that she will get it someday and told me not to worry. So I don't feel quite as bad anymore, I just am hesitant to try again when its died in front of me three times. (I know compared to some thats not a lot, but its discouraging)

My heart is broken As soon as the patch came out and I saw Deth'tilac I was in love. It is purple my favorite color. & With transmor coming out she would have even matched my armor!

I have seen her twice so far. Once I totally had no clue what I was doing. I didn't quite understand what i had read and it took a few deaths before my husband came to help me. It ended very badly with my husband confusing me and me not abandoning my pet quick enough- my husband died, his dots killed the spider and the spider killed me

Tonight I saw him again, 2 pallys were there and as soon as I got there they announced he was up in general ugh. 2 hunters showed up 1 alliance (same as me) one horde. I messed up he glitched and evaded back and the horde tried & did the same. I tried and almost had it but the horde killed it but it didnt matter because the spider killed me. I totally want to cry. Which sounds silly but I want it sooo badly.

I guess I don't understand how to do it still. If anyone can help me. I send my pet in, he dies, I slow the spider and rez my pet. But I am having a hard time being far enough away from him to have time to rez my pet. & then I get him down to 10% and I try to cast tame from as far away as I can and he still is getting to me and killing me the second before the tame goes off?

I'm no expert. But you probably want to ice trap and CS, then DE right before you start taming. Maybe if a druid is around who can root? But if you are soloing, that is basically the method; Sending in the pet to die (which will decrease his health by 10% each time... I think... and that helps him get lower in health) and then reviving pet to rinse and repeat. So long as Deth is slowed by ice traps and CS he should be slow enough to give you time to rez your pet. It will help having someone around too, during the times you have to rez pet. Communication is a good thing if you are not soloing, cause the last 20% can be bad if two people end up dying. Also, use a spider pet that has a web ability to help with slowing Deth. And its probably the best option if the pet you are using is a "trash" pet... meaning one that you can abandon while its dead when you are ready to tame Deth. Or if you are good and can dismiss it, either way it doesn't matter. I also hear that survival can be a good spec to tame this in cause of the quicker CD of traps and the skill "entrapment". Hope this helps, but this is what I have gathered from everything I have read + my own experiences (And I've failed 3 times, no success yet... but other people/bad choices ruined it) Its hard to sometimes get it right when you are excited, so try and relax if you can.

Deth is the prettiest, but Kirix has the most awesome color scheme. He is by far my favorite MF spider. I rarely use Deth, despite him being the best looking, but Kirix gets to stay in my pet call list most of the time.

Skarr was killed AGAIN GODDAMMIT this morning by an alliance paladin. Apparently being a human paladin = douchey. I have no idea what these idiots think.

No objections here Sara, I love my Kirix. I think its adorable, or at least how I see it in my head. Mostly I think its cute cause it had the power to kill me a few times (not to mention the masses I have seen him defeat when others try taming him) But when I tamed mine, he looked so cute when he shrank down and looked at me from the other side, as though he saw his mommy for the first time. He certainly forced his way into my stables, as I didn't have intention to tame him, and he won my heart over. Its kinda why I don't really have an interest in the other spiders, I would like to say I could complete the challenge, but I probably wouldn't use any of them cause I love my Kirix (Maybe Anthriss... but as far as Deth goes, its really pretty, but not as fitting to me anymore.)


...Oh and Skitter met his fate again today. Yesterday it was due to a hunter not knowing how to tame hi properly and his energy reached 0. And today.... well it was a mess. I just finished finding Solix a home, and my worgen hunter friend (who I had asked if they wanted Solix but they didnt) told me Skitter was also up. So once a different worgen hunter came and tamed Solix, I cheered her and went over to see Skitter. Skitter is another that I don't want so I was hoping to see him get a good home. What do I find when I get there? Skitter, minding his own business and a tauren pally who thinks Skitter must die. I watch on eggshells as Skitter is at 3% health but he managed to kill the pally and reset. There were two horde hunters there and a horde mage... so the horde mage decides he wants to throw some spells at him cause he doesn't like Skitter either. But the hunters managed to trap him, and gain aggro off the mage, but its a bit of a blur (mind you I am just watching, terrified that the mage will try to kill it or the pally come back) Skitter somehow took three traps (none were mine, as I didn't touch it) and he died. Then the orc hunter shakes his fist at me and started yelling in orcish. I had no clue why he yelled at me. So I hoped over to my belf priest to ask him "WTF man? What on earth did I do??" And he blamed me for the extra freezing trap but I told him I didn't touch it at all, I was just watching. I'm pretty sure with the two of them, they miscalculated the traps, and not to mention there was a frost mage right next to them. He apologized and told me he was mostly upset cause his hunter friend wanted the spider. I wished them luck for the next time and went on my merry way. Can't believe they blamed me when I had nothing to do with it. Well, thats two days in a row that Skitter met his death. Poor spider. At least Solix got a home.

Skitter ends up dying a lot on my realm, speaking that no one "wants" the rares anymore. I had to save Skarr and Solix from a loot crazed guild leader yesterday..(yea, I had to save the two from my guild leader...)

On other news, I spotted Banny, and tried to help another hunter tame. Well, when I lower him down (I'm an eng, so I have the cloak enchant), some horde rogue decided to come down with his mage buddy, and the two killed Banny. Now the other hunter is stuck with a stupid crystal. Ugh...why is everyone on my realm looking to KILL everything..

i am SEETHING! after helping a hunter tame banny...we went to look for he MF rares...karkin was up..but just as she was about to tame after getting rid of her fox a STUPID HUMAN PALLY CAME AND OUTRIGHT KILLED KARIN! then when i asked him on my NE hunter he said " i wont ever let a horde tame a pet. never ever. so you can go and some stupid idiot women thing (my NE is female) like cook or clean cause women are idiots who take thing to seriously".....I AM SEETHING NOW!!!!
