What is your favorite common skin? Need suggestions. :)

Hi guys. I'm leveling another hunter and I need some assistance with her stables. :) This is a little different, because while I'm out taming cats on Veeka I'd like to know something about your favorite common skin!



Meet Merridale - or Merri. ICly she is fairly young, and because she has a lot of growing to do you know she'll pick up a lot of pets on the way. :] I'm doing a bit of an enforced 'challenge'(although it's not a challenge at all) in that she will have no rares at all. It was going to be no rares and no unique-skinned beasts, but I tamed a unique skin without realizing it and love her too much to let her go. She is marksman specced and will not be beast mastery, so no exotics please. :)



Her go-to pet is Reuben, a Kolkar Pack Hound from The Barrens...and a plain old orange hyena.

Her other pets so far are:




Ladimore, formerly known as Lo'Shall, an extremely tiny but still common-skinned boar from Durotar.



Stella, a Black Bear from Loch Modan. :) Tamed to help me clear things on my way to get Reuben, but I fell in love.



Mojave, a non-flaming non-enraged Deviate Terrortooth from The Barrens who really deserved some love and slightly fewer explosions.



Moxie, a Plains Prowler from the Barrens who was really determined to sleep in the middle of nowhere.



And Snow, a Spiny Rock Crab from Theramore and, at the moment, my only accidental unique. Oops!

I guess my reasoning behind this is to show - as we all know - that common, non-rare pets can be just as wonderful and special and 'unique' as any spirit beast or King Krush or Madexx. It's not an argument for common pets vs rare pets. It's just a showcase of critters I love who happen to be plain ol' Average Joes. :)

What is your favorite common skin(if any) and why? I have no planned stable for Merri besides the pets she owns now, and I would love to hear your opinions and suggestions. If I like the pet enough, I'd run across Azeroth to get it. :P

Well... my favorites are the black bear and the lioness skin, simply because they're beautiful!

I admit I wasn't really fond of the lioness skin - it just looked...weird, so I mostly ignored it until I spotted that lone lioness sleeping out in the middle of the savannah instead of under a tree like everyone else. :P I don't normally have pets that 'speak' to me in the wild; none of mine ever had any funny quirks before I tamed them until then, so I made a run to the nearest stable master to put Stella away and ran all the way back worried she'd have stopped napping. Thankfully she was still there, although she got her name partly due to the fact that I accidentally pulled her and the two lions nearby(looong story), died, and she went right back to sleep.

As for Stella, I was going to let her go once I got to Reuben, but I couldn't bring myself to let her go when the time came. She did accompany me though the looong swim down Westfall/Stranglethorn, after all. I'm fond of the black and brown bear skins in particular. :)

I know you have a raptor, but I'm a huge fan of the green raptor skin:

The serpents are also awesome. I like the freaky pink one a lot but I'm also a fan of the green and the purple

My main doesn't have this, but my undead hunter does: the Undead Eagle (though to me it looks more like an undead vulture and I wish it was Ferocity instead of Cunning). They look a lot nicer in person than in that picture. Very nice skin and so appropriate for Forsaken hunters.

The red and green Scarab Beetles are simply beautiful, like jewels. I adore that skin. The scarabs come in several really pretty variations, so if you prefer purples or blues there is a scarab for you.

I've really become a complete sucker for the bat models, especially the red one:

I know the models are old and ugly but there's something endearing about their characteristics. ^^

I think the black owls are wonderful and surprisingly rarely used. They look so fitting now in Duskwood.


There's so many scorpid models I love. The black has always been a favourite, I love the vivid blood-like splatters. The teal is so pretty and reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream. Silver is gorgeous to see in person, and the metallic fire one is like the hot rod of scorpids.

Always liked the black worg with its silvery blue eyes.

I have allways liked the violet dragonhawk's cause of the pretty purple on thier wings. And just love the black worgs with the blue eyes or the red worgs with the amazeing green eyes...all three are very pretty even if they are "all over", I also kind of like the lavender kitty but you have a kitty allready .

I have a couple of fond memories of some common skinned pets as I was leveling my Hunter not having a single clue as to what I was actually doing. One of which included the Red Hyena skin. Collected from the hounds in Scarlet Monestary Library. Back before they turned into dogs. I had him -forever- and I still dont quite remember what I had abandoned him for.

Black, white and dark brown bear skins have to be one of my favourites. Along with the red/black bat.

I don't think I could ever pick just one skin to be my favorite common, but I can narrow it down to two:

I would say that of the ones that haven't been mentioned.. the black fluffy worm. I love my Squiggles! It's a unique, but non-rare (elite quest mob, I believe).

Other than that.. I like the chocolate scorpion, just the common one. And the flamingo of course! Then of course there's seagulls, just because.. well.. it's a SEAGULL... <.<

I'm really fond of cats. My favourite cat models are:
I tamed a tiger back in vanilla when they still existed in Durotar. Arod was my Orc's very first pet and I never abandoned him, even when there were better cats like him that had other/better abilites. I still have Arod and he does everything with Morga.

Then there is
I had Idefix quite a long time with Finduilas, my bloodelf. I let her go when I decided that I needed more rares, but reading all these topics about non-rare pets brought her back in my mind and I realize how much I actually miss her. She is such a pure beauty, sleek, elgant, proud. I will get her back today *spills some tears about how I was ever able to let her go*. I was asked a lot about where I had gotten her and when I answered "she is one of the cats from winterspring" everyone was just "well ok, but not rare?".

The brown barrens cat, you already have her. My Tauren has one of them since she was about level 12 and I still have her. I really bond with the pets I tamed as first pets when my hunters had reached the magic level 10.

For other pet families:
I really love the ghostly model and her solid sister, too. I tamed them quite often just to release them for other birds like olm or a parrot, but the model is one of my favourites.
is a very gorgeous spider. I had her with Finduilas from level 47 onwards, when she was finally able to tame one of them. I did almost a year of level 49 battlegrounds with Spinxxe (that was back in time when you wouldn't get ep in a bg *sigh*) and then she kept my company to level 80 and then 85. I let her go for Deth, but I still like her and think about getting her back with my baby hunter who's currently level 44.

You already tamed my favourite hyena skin, so I don't have to defend their cuddly teddy ears here... Named my hyena Teddy...
