So naturally I got Ban'thalos this week and headed to Hyjal tonight to take a look and see if Ankha was up (she's the only spirit beast missing from my collection, not that I actually need to - or should - finish said collection >.> ). She wasn't, so I decide to venture to the dreaded Molten Front, which stresses me out to the point that I haven't even bothered to do dailies there.
Deth was not up (never has been when I've checked. I see this as something of a relief - I think I'd fail at taming her.). I checked for Anthriss and Solix - also not up. Then I decide to tiptoe around that fiery path to have a look at Kirix's area... unsurprisingly, Kirix wasn't up either. I'd never been up this way before so I decided to go meet Dante. I forgot to take a screen of him, but he looked happy and sends his regards to the Petopians.
I see an orc hunter sitting on the ledge in front of all the floating islands. I noticed on my map that this was a Karkin/Skarr spawn point and asked if she was camping one of them. She said, "No, go ahead - I'm just doing dailies." At this moment, NPCScan blared at me - Karkin!! I've wanted him since I returned to my hunter and saw the new challenge tames!
The orc hops up the islands and I try to follow. I'm terrible at rockjumping so I fell to my death. I then spent the next 5 minutes trying to get to my corpse and failing each time because the ghost speed bonus makes this even worse for me
While sailing over the rocks I finally see where exactly Karkin is at, and notice a spirit healer near him, so the next time my ghost came back up I went to talk to her and spirit rezzed (what else could I do? hahah).After all this embarrassing crap, Karkin was still up! I figured he would kill me but I had a few tries anyway at trying to aggro, deterrence, and tame him. My friend eventually came to try and help me - or at least provide moral support. He died a lot too, which cheered me up. I decided to just sit and wait for rez sick to fall off, hoping that any hunter coming by wouldn't try to tame him out from under me.
Suddenly a blood elf appeared! He told me he already had Karkin; he'd been checking for Skarr. Rez sick wears off and I try again, and fail. I wished sorely that I had a MM spec, when the blood elf tells me that he can go MM and help me out
With the help of this incredibly kind hunter, I now have Karkin! I'm so happy! I haven't been this excited over a pet - rare or not - since WotLK. Afterward, I hung out in Orgrimmar with the hunter for a while next to the stable master and we showed each other all our pets. Then I flew out to the barrens to get some screenshots of my new happy crab and decided to check to see if Humar was up. He was! So I /who'd the zone and told a level 21 hunter he was up. The goblin rushed over while I babysat Humar, and now he has a handsome new pet
I feel good that I got the opportunity to pay it forward by helping someone else. Screens! (Best viewed in numeric order

*Edit - I forgot to mention the weirdest part: I saw Karkin with a hunter in orgrimmar just a few days ago. It was the first and only time I had seen him in-game. I stopped bothering to clear out my cache long ago, and most definitely had Karkin cached. But NPCScan still went off. Meant to be? Haha
I got my own Karkin recently and I love him! Though my tame was much less eventful than yours, I have a MM offspec so I silenced the barrage for myself
