On The Hunt For a Madexx! [Found a Blue!]

Yes, thats right, I'm looking for a Madexx now. I already tried to get some extra luck by asking our one and only luck thread, but I have a feeling this will take some time. Mostly because I want only two of the colors he spawns in, which is green or blue. Either will make me happy since I love both colors. And I would seriously just tame a common skin version if it was available, cause this mob with different colors has always been a reason to not camp him... I don't want to be disappointed by finding a color I don't want.


So far I have only seen one Madexx in the wild, which turned out to be a red one. I tamed him cause it was a freakish hour early in the morning and their were no hunters around. I didn't want him to die to questers. He is a beautiful color,and I personally love the red just as much as the green and blue, but he would fit little Serenith far more than Neyaari (too bad she is still only 65!)

Hopefully I will have some luck this week, cause my account is about to expire and I would like to at least have some time to enjoy the pet. I don't know if or when I will be getting my account back (maybe in a few months I hope). But this little scorpion is too cute to pass up, and I have refused to tame him until now (I refused to tame Madexx to avoid the annoying camping reasons). A green or blue Madexx addition to my stables will make them complete for the time being as well (Until they let us have hydras or something equally cool and interesting, there really isn't anything else I have a desire to tame)

So let the hunt begin!

People on my server seem to PREFER red and bronze. Even though they know bronze is common, they say they want the "real" bronze Madexx, not his clones. Green and blue are just never seen. I saw green once and snapped him up quick. Blue just recently, and about had a heart attack while doing the tame.

I honestly don't see to many people using the Madexx style skin as their tank pets, common color or not. So I have no idea what spawns the most. I have seen one red myself and another hunter with a red... and my BF tamed a black Madexx a while back, so for the time being red/black is the most common cause I haven't seen anyone with the other colors =P (And that is based on the last two weeks and what I saw, since I didn't pay that much note to people with this pet before... but people tend to run around with other tank families for the most part) But I'm sure they exist... its just difficult to keep track.

Green and blue just happen to look the best with my hunter, although a bronze wouldn't be too awful a choice either. But I prefer the other two colors cause they are just nicer looking IMO. And my draenei has blue skin and dark greenish hair so they "match" the best. Anything blue always seems to look great with her, and the green is also very pretty. My stables used to have way more blue than anything else, but nowadays she has a lot of green and yellows too.

Black is insanely common. He spawned 4 times in a row on my server in 2 days. Black was all that spawned. No other color, until near-midnight of the 2nd day.

Whats the average spawn times for Madexx in general? I tamed that red one early this morning at 4:30ish.... and I got back online at 6:30pm. Been sitting here tabbed out to use the internet, every 10-20 minutes or so I go back to circle the area and haven't seen anything... but I'm not familiar with the spawn rates and such of Madexx, so I have no idea how often one will spawn in anyways. Or if there is a high chance one spawned in before I logged back online.

Ah, it depends. The blacks spawned exactly 12 hours apart from one another. Right after the last black spawned though, the blue spawned at exactly the 6 hour mark. Perhaps completely random? I don't know. The red and green I got from just randomly flying around letting Deathwing toast me while looking for that damned blue that never spawned.

It's 6 - 24 hrs. His spawn time is very erradic.

I killed a bronze Madexx when Cata first came out while leveling my mage (my first toon to get leveled, in every expack). I thought it dropped cool loot. It didn't. And I couldn't even siphon venom out for the quest. I got no pissed whispers, so I assume no one cared that I killed it on accident.

Yup. Really blows chunks. I've often found him 8 - 17 hrs(but have seen him sooner and later than these numbers) so that seems to be a general medium for him. He's very fickle. They dont call this "Madexx Madness" for nothin.

Because everything was so new back then, there was probably a higher chance not many knew of the mob and didn't care. Even today, people still think killing the tamable rares = nice loot. A pally and a shadow priest killed Skarr the other day, and I asked them why they killed him.... they had no idea that it was a hunter thing and even said the loot was in fact weird/not what they expected from a rare. So its likely people are still under the impression (Blizz has certainly drilled this in our brains) that killing rares will result in nice loot/achievements.

I've had him spawn FAR beyond the 17 hr mark. So it's definitely beyond 17 hrs. I've found him at 19 hrs, 23 hrs, and even 24 hrs on the dot(I camped him for a solid month).

Skarr and Karkin are similar in a way... but their spawn times are much nicer not to mention they don't have such a wide spawn location so they are easier to camp (in my opinion at least).

I've only seen a red one in the wild, it was pretty neat. He is so big compared to everything around him.

Skarr and Karkin are 10x nicer than madexx, definitely. And yeah. I always camped the north spot. NPCScan will still pick them up, even if its outside the circle should they spawn at the other spot. Was so much nicer.

And yeah...Madexx is HUGE. Even if he's cached, you wont miss him.

I actually found a lovely spot between both points and I could just sit and wait in, and it picks them both up... and even Skitter/Kirix. Lol

Oh, dear, yes. I LOVE seeing Madexx in the wild (no matter what color) just because he is so magnificent and imposing. He really should be much larger than the average scorpid, since he's so wonderful looking seeing him in the wild.
