Skittered the flame

Last night I was just trapsing around the Molten Front. Bored out of my skull actually when I got a ping from Silver Dragon and NPC Scan. Skitterflame danced across my screen. So I beebop-baloobop over to where Skitter was. Ok, easy enough, right? So I'm a slow learner, shoot me. Skitter one shotted me a few times. There was a mage around but she was kind enough not to kill Skitter. Even though I have to believe she was actaully laughing at me the entire time. Hey, at least I'm good entertainment! I tried a fourth time and practiced the kiting. Killed again. At this point I asked the mage for help. And she happily helped me. Though in my excitement I forgot to group with her. This is where is gets interesting.

In my throes of taming ecstacy, I asked her to polymorph Skitter. Again, not realizing that we weren't grouped. But she froze him in place and started getting wailed on by some elementals. I hit "Tame Beast" as the mage ran. The Frost Nova broke and I had seconds left. My tame bar disappeared and Skitterflame killed me. He despawned and I thought: "Awww! So close!" thinking I lost the tame because he despawned. I fervently thanked the mage for trying and wanted to pay her some gold for her help. She politely declined the payment and we went our seperate ways.

I was a little discouraged at the tame attempt so I decided to do some dungeon runs. I couldn't remember if I had pets with me being I cleared out my pet spots for tames but so much time had passed that I forgot I cleared it out. Much to my suprise, there was a lone spider in my Call Pet button. I was like..huh? I called the spider out. Low and behold....

SKITTERFLAME!

I nearly spit my coffee out in joy. The tame must have JUST taken as he killed me. That was the only thing I could think of that happened. Skitterflame now has a home in my stables. I'm at work so I don't have any screenshots at the moment.

But that's my Skitterflame tame story!

PS: I did, after I realized I did tame Skitterflame, sent a tell back to the mage thanking her profusely for her help and told her I did in fact get Skitterflame. I sent her so many hugs and kisses she laughed even more. Told you I was good entertainment.

Haha good story, and grats!! The same thing happened with me and Anthriss. I'd read that the lava pools didn't work anymore and someone recommended kiting but I was a bit lazy for that, so I hit my deterrence/tame macro and hoped for the best. I died, she despawned, but I saw a new spider icon on my call pet bar

Actaully, god I wish I was at home right now, after I tamed Skitter, I did do some dungeon runs and went back to the Molten Front like...2-3 hours later. I was running around, again, checking for Skarr or Deth when I literally...I mean literally ran into Anthriss. I actaully did try the lava pool too. But I was so far away when I tamed her it didn't matter. So I have both Skitter and Anthriss in my stables. Talk about luck.

I love stories like this! When you think it's all over and you feel all pessimistic about it... Then you get the nice surprise when the call pets list is longer than before xD

This same scenario happened when I tamed King Krush, the tame bar emptied just as I died (darn wasps) and Krush dissapeared. When I rez there's a lovely green Devilsaur icon waiting for me :3

LOL, that's great! I'm glad it all worked out in the end, and that the mage was nice enough to help!!! Make sure to post screen prints when you get home!

I'm not sure which one I like better. Anthriss really stands out, but Skitterflame looks all fiery and neat. I guess that just means you should hang on to both of them. Nice pics, and grats again!

Both of them are really awesome! The more I look at the new 'lava' models, the more little details I notice.
