There isnt anything like that. Northrend Rares arent new so they dont have a topic of their very own.

Northrend Rares are a different ball game. Arcturis can be about 8 - 27 hrs. Gondria, Loque, Krush, Aotona, Skoll are about 6 - 18 hrs.

But keep in mind, there's a thing about Northrend. Only 3 rares can be up at any one given time on that continent(Proven by Ponderance at tlpdresource.com). So your best bet is to either camp them in a healthy fashion or try just swinging around every once in awhile to see if they're around.

the 'only 3 rares can be up' thing is in a lotta controversy though, no one really truly knows anymore and its even more skeptical with the reduction of spawn timers, though, i have always followed the method if im looking for a particular rare, i'll hop on alts and kill rares in the neighboring zones in hopes it makes my rare pop faster

Yeah though like Xa said, theres a lot of controversy since the spawn timer reduction but so far it hasnt failed me yet.

PTR isnt Live. Just an FYI. ;P He did all this testing stuff on LIVE servers. PTR acts a bit differently than Live servers do. People found Deth'tilac on the hour on the PTR servers too but he definitely doesn't have a one hour respawn timer on Live. Respawn timers are never judged until they hit Live servers when people can get a shot at camping them.

A dev never said anything about it. They and GMs aren't allowed to tell us how it works. Blizzard employee policy if I'm not mistaken.

Frankly, I would be shocked if you had people staring at three rares at once. What proof do you have of what *they're* saying, other than their words? Since you seem to believe them more than me, what proof are they offering you that I haven't? I've never seen the proof of the posting. Only seen the posting's words C&P'ed.

Actually, I'm not arguing this time. I'm just asking you to show me the proof that they offered as opposed to their word.

And in this case, the topic seems relevant to the thread, since he's asking about rarespawn timers, and you're saying 'only three up ever'. That's pretty relevant to someone asking about the timers, as opposed to being derailing! If only three are up ever, then rarespawn timers have a lot less relevance than checking to make sure rares are already 'up'. And the timers on other rarespawns, if longer/shorter, will have an impact on the timers of others.

The '3 rares up at one time' is not factual whatsoever, and didn't Ponderance, the person who 'proved' this in the first place tell everyone to disreguard it because it wasn't fact anymore? I could be wrong on that, but I recall reading this on his site.

Either way, PLEASE don't tell people that -only- 3 rares can be up at any given time. Its simply a rumor, we have no factual proof, and even if you think its real, its much better to say "This is a possibility." Its nothing more than a rumor at this point--one that we should stop spreading, or at least stop spreading as a fact, and more of a "this is possible."

As much "proof" as you have to say that its real, other people have just as much "proof" to say it isn't real. There's no sure way of knowing, so at this point we shouldn't be telling people (possibly) false information.

I went digging around his site, and I found the post of him saying himself that the rare cap in Northrend does not exist, whether it used to or never did, we will never know. And..for some reason, the site's URL is always 'notsorare.com' so I'm not sure how I can link to the thread as I have no url >< Buuut, the post is stickied under Board index > time lost proto > spawn theories, title is '2 rare cap is no more' or something.

The thread is pretty split, but Ponderance found 4 mobs up at once. Some people think the rare cap is 5-6 now, and other people claim to have seen 8-12 mobs at a time.

If the rare cap in northrend is met (I swear it is 2, others say 3-5), vyra and tlpd (and all other rares for that matter) will not spawn until one or more of the rares that are currently up in northrend are killed. Here is a map with locations and a flight path for tagging as many as you can find.

The rare cap is no longer 2 as of 4.1. I checked after the shattering and even 4.0.6 and couldn't locate more than 2 up after hours of looking while parking on 2. Recently, post 4.1, I found 4 up at the same time. - Thanks to all of you who contacted with info on tons of rares being up at the same time prompting me to go look at it again.

I've said all I'm going to say on this before, but I'll recap it in a short short version: I personally don't believe that there is a rare cap, only coincidences regarding spawn timers.

They asked for a timer, not for how many rares are up at once, which makes it derailing. Again I ask this to be dropped unless there's a link by Ponderance saying the cap was removed(Zui says he said it but theres no link so I've no idea if its true or not). I do know back in Wrath and through cata 4.1, the cap did exist. It wasn't a rumor. It was proven true by Ponderance. If it doesn't exist now, then it's simply Blizz removed it. I remember many were angry at the cap thing.

Thank you for posting a link. There WAS a cap but Blizz got rid of it, apparently. And a big thanks to ponderance for the info as well, keeping us informed. ;3

I honestly and truly do not believe that. Last week I found Arcturis and I rehomed him to a really really nice hunter and I was talking to her about spirit beasts because she had no clue what they were. So I told her to follow me and we flew up, found Gondria, flew up more, found Skoll, and flew west and found Loque'nahak. Now, if it IS true, then we were severely lucky and one spawned on the flight, but other than that, I can't be swayed to believe otherwise.

Sorry, but furthermore, I have screenshot proof that that's a rumor because I found more than half of my northrend rare achievement in twenty minutes. (That I just thought of and saw on my facebook to see the timestamps of the WoW clock.)

Once again Jessibelle, we have NO way of knowing if its real or not. You cannot insist that it existed and they just removed it. How do you KNOW there is proof of a cap? There isn't any solid way of proving it. There just isn't. Its entirely possible that most of the NR rares were simply on a respawn timer and Ponderance found however many he found because they were off their cooldown.

It's entirely possible that it was a coincidence that he found 2, 4 up at a time. And the number always changes--half of the time says it was a 2 cap, then it was a 3 cap, then it was a 4 cap, then it was a 5 cap..do you see a pattern? It went up every time he found more than the previous cap in northrend--and now that he says this cap no longer exists, people are saying there is a 6 cap or a 10 cap. There is no cap, and I doubt there ever was one. No one has proof that it exists because its something that can't be proven, you cannot eliminate the possibility of coincidence unless you play on an empty server (Literally)

TL;DR, you simply cannot prove that there is a cap. It's impossible.

If you have some real proof aside from some guy saying "I tested this on my server" I'd be very interested in seeing it. Also, since Ponderance said himself that it was a 2 cap, he never proved that it was a 3 cap. And pre-shattering, I know there was no 2 cap, as I had found Krush, and Aotona in the basin at the same time, while a friend in grizzly said that Arcturis was up. But again,that isn't real proof, that's just me saying something as I have no way of proving it without screen shots. That's just my own reason for not believing in any cap.

Only way you can determine it is if you have people sitting over every inch of rarespawn areas at once.
