Zodiac theme musing

Not that I need another Hunter alt, but lately I've just been musing on the idea of a character with a Zodiac themed stables, and I might just try it out for fun.

I've been brainstorming pet ideas to fit each of the astrology signs. Some are easy, some take a little bit of creativity, and others I'm completely stumped for. Feel free to pitch in your own thoughts for the theme, I'd love to see what comes to mind for others.

Aries - The Ram


Taurus - The Bull

There aren't any tameable bulls of course, so I thought a Rhino would be the next best thing. They both have that stocky, strong build and charging trait, so it works for me.

Gemini - The Twins

Spiteflayer was the perfect choice (having two heads), with Gemini being an air sign and the traditional colour being yellow.

Cancer - The Crab

Often associated with white/silver, I think this crab model works very well. Karkin was considered, but I didn't really like the red details.

Leo - The Lion

(Obvious choice is obvious, lol). I don't like the Sambas model, but for an alt I might consider taming it to match the theme. The original model would work in the meantime though.

Virgo - The Maiden

I thought something light and delicate would be a good choice for this sign. These two come to mind for me as being feminine and suiting.

Libra - The Scales

Not entirely sure why, but the blue wind serpent just seems to work for me. The colour is right, and (this is horrible, but)...it has scales. Plus the two wings could weigh things and...I dunno, it just fits in my mind.

Scorpio - The Scorpion

Another fairly obvious choice, with red being the predominant Scorpio colour. :3

Sagittarius - The Centaur/Archer
???
Not too sure on this one... EDIT: Contemplating making the hunter itself represent this sign as being the Archer

Capricorn - The Goat

The chimaeras have goatlike heads, and since the symbol is sometimes half fish, the combination body sort of fits well for that amalgamation aspect.

Aquarius - The Water Bearer

With Aquarius being an air sign rather than water, I thought this model works well to tie in the aquatic colours along with the air aspect.

Pisces - The Dual Fish

Perhaps a sporebat for Pisces? It may not be a fish, but I like the way its flowing body and glowing, colorful underbelly relate to Pisceans in general, who have a tendency towards soft-heartedness and big, elaborate dreams. Not sure on the others... I'll have to think about it.

Firstly, I would like to point out that Scorpio's main colours are black and maroon, so if I was doing this myself, I would pick a black Madexx. Shades of red (especially dark red) are also accepted, but as red is the colour of Aries, this can cause some confusion.

Sadly, as rams won't be tameable anytime soon, for Aries I was thinking along the lines of something red (because of their colour), and perhaps something that looks fiery (thanks to their element, which they are the only cardinal version of). Top two:

Now, for Sagittarius, their zodiac animals are horses and hunted creatures, but as we don't have deer and horses available to tame, how does this look:



On a list of hunted creatures, I'm pretty sure foxes would qualify. Also, dark blue and purple are the Sag. colours.

For Pisces I have no ideas. I suppose I would go for a blue hydra, if they were available. But as it stands, maybe a croc?
Generally, their animals are fish and water loving mammals, and their colour a soft sea green. But we don't have any of those available, so I"m drawing a blank here.

Anyway, if you start the hunter, I'd love to see taming pics!

Ooh, a thought came to me last night. Perhaps I could have the hunter itself represent Sagittarius, as the Archer. Still unsure about the race and everything, but I'll figure that out later. ^^

If you represent the archer, then perhaps your mount could represent the ram (talbuk if you choose horde, ram for alliance).

I gotta put in my vote for red corehound for Aries (is an Aries and loves corehounds).

Anyways, this is a really cute theme. I think Sagittarius as the hunter is really appropriate! Maybe you could be a human hunter riding a horse to represent a centaur.

Aries -

Virgo -
Virgo is a double-bodied sign, also known as the maiden and bird, so a bird would be the best pet to use. Virgo is also known for earthly colors such as green and brown and having high language skills, so this green parrot maybe?

Pisces - or
Nether rays or sporebats are as fish-like to pets as we are going to get. Nether ray matches the color better being a seagreen, but sporebats look more gentle in nature.

Sagittarius -
Only thing I can think of if you need to make this a pet instead of your hunter. Raptors are great hunters, especially with them dropping all those Broken Bloodstained Bows it's implied that hunters that go out to hunt raptors soon find themselves as the hunted. Sagittarius is also know for fighting with it's human intellectual self and it's beastial horse self, and a intellectual raptor that can be a bloodthirsty killer symbolizes this the best imo.

I got nothing on Libra. That's a hard one to make into a pet.

For Virgo, they are usually associated with Demeter, the Goddess of the harvest, who's symbol is actually a lion.

I think I'm sold on the red corehound for Aries. Not sure how it works, but it just...seems to somehow.

Also, I really like that crocolisk idea SB! I think I'm going to go with that.

As for colours, I swear just about every site I find has conflicting information about which colour goes with which sign.

Love this idea Veph! I also kind of like the idea of Sagittarius being represented by the hunter. My initial thoughts to race are blood elf or human.

I went with a female Tauren for the hunter, named her Sagittaria. Since it's a centaur archer, a tauren hunter just felt right to me.

So far she has Leo (The Rake) and Cancer (Encrusted Surf Crawler). I'll post screenies when I'm home from work.
