Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
Glad you liked these latest few batches. Thanks for all the comments
I'm working on gryphons and they're way more fun to play with than wyverns. Hopefully have something up soon

Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
Wow the spiky spiders are GORGEOUS.
Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
I already have 2 sporebats, and I would break my spiritbeast collection for that ghostly one with blue spore-sparkles! Love the color combinations for them, somebody needs to make a lot of these color changes happen please!
Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
Something a little different. This one was for Kalliope.
This is pretty much the TCG "Big Battle Bear" mount skin on a regular bear.
Unfortunately the mount skin has straps pasted on it, so the body couldn't be used. What I did was take the in-game black bear skin and colour-adjust it to match the mount as close as possible. It took me more than a little while to get it right, but I was really pleased with the result. The differences in shade are extremely slight. The toenails are a slightly different shade, as are the paw pads, but nothing you'd normally notice. Once I was happy with the body I imported the head graphic from the mount, which has the bright red gums, sneer-creases on the snout, and of course the very stylish purple eyebrows. At first I was obsessed with getting the head and body to match perfectly at the join until I realized it was impossible. No bear skin in the game, including that tcg mount, matches the body perfectly at the join. In fact many are downright jarring if you look at them too closely. And this guy in fact is now more seamless than most of the in-game ones

Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
That skin is really gorgeous.
Fully Ursa-approved! I hadn't even noticed the gum color difference until you pointed it out.
Do want this for Ursa, somehow! <3

That golden tamarin link gave me a warning. I realize it's PROBABLY a false positive, but I'd rather post it and let folks make their own decisions on the risk level.
Really love the blue and moonlight spiders, and some of the wyverns are fantastic!

Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
Very nice bear and I love the gold and silver spiky spiders. I like the colors on the wyverns, especially the golden-red one. Lovely. I just can't get past the wretched model, sadly.

Really? Odd. I don't know what the site is where the picture is hosted, I just found a pic using Google.Davarra wrote:That golden tamarin link gave me a warning. I realize it's PROBABLY a false positive, but I'd rather post it and let folks make their own decisions on the risk level.

Helpiggies...
Helboars are fun and easy to generate colours for. They normally have slightly "off", creepy appearances and almost any colour goes. In fact if you think any of these are too unrealistic, go and take a look at close-ups of the brighter in-game ones
My main problem was trying to avoid ones that were too saturated as they started to look like they were made from jelly bean. Some were mouth-watering to stare at, but unless they one day add the elemental plane of sugar they're unlikely to be too realistic. My other problem was cutting the post down to a reasonable number of pics. It was too easy to generate interesting ones, and some were painful to cut. Some of these are definitely NOT my favourites but I chose them for variety over ones that I liked more, but were closer to others I'm posting. In other situations I just couldn't choose.
Firstly a few purple options, since there are no real purple helpiggies in the game. The base colour for these is quite similar, I just had trouble choosing between them:

And a white with purple-and-blue spikes:

A couple of gnarled and evil old swamp pigs:

A grey I like with frosted pink spikes. The frosting seems to stop the pink from becoming too garish:

Another one I really like, kind of puce with orange spikes. Also a pink one with contrasting blue spikes:

Yellow/green, green and olive. The first and last are probably too similar:

Simple brown with striking green-yellow spikes:

Orange-red body with purple spikes. It looks like candy and makes me hungry. I have another with the same body colour but a golden mane, but it was a bit too similar to the puce/orange one above.

I just wanted to add this one at the end because it looks like a pig made from slime!

Ooh, those 'swamp piggy' skins look completely plausible. I like them!

I see Arthas's standards for raising new Death Knights are getting lower with every day.

I should add that all these skins had no further modifications, they're just raw recombinations of colour channels, albeit selective ones. I only spent an evening on them. While they could probably do with a few touch-ups if this was serious, they don't look too bad as they are. Actually, looking at the in-game ones I was surprised just how bright and "unrealistic" parts of them looked when viewed closely, but they look great in the game.
On the other hand, I've been working on gryphons for some time and having more trouble. It's been really hard to get plausible ones purely from colour channel switching, and I've had to do a lot of modifications (hue/saturation/etc. changes, copying in beaks, blurring and smudging, etc.) as well as annoying the shit out of certain people here for advice
