There is a 0,5 pet attack delay bug or something, which is also the cause of pet not using rabid on auto cast sometimes.

Yeah was more of just something to keep in mind for others saying they're having issues. Heirlooms make a difference.Comett wrote:Just to throw it out there, no heirlooms on those hunters I mentioned.

I haven't seen this issue with Pinky, my bear. I recently had him tank half of Sunwell in a raid (our tanks sucked and kept dieing). I have glyph of MD and always open with Chimera Shot (also keep everything on CD) and spam Steady Shot in between MDs. Maybe you guys just have a bad agro keeping tank spec, just a suggestion.

Yep, I've noticed it, too. I have no heirlooms. In fact, my gear is pretty crappy, truth be told. I send my pet in first and wait before attacking. However, all it takes is one explosive shot and BAM, instant aggro. With both my brother and I playing, it's actually almost pointless to even have a pet except for maybe the little bit of buffs some of them bring. I of course keep mine out anyway because I like them, but we certainly don't need them.

It's interesting, really, because... I never previously really had an issue with pet threat. I rarely used MD, if ever, and 9 times out of 10 I'd use a ferocity pet anyway. Even now, my main well-geared (like 375 or something) hunter has no issues with aggro on her cats, unless I happen to go raid-style all out with Rapid Fire, trinkets etc for whatever reason - in which case I'll start off with an MD and feign death if required.
But my little hordie on Nesingwary - level 12, 5 pets already, with more empty slots than greys and whites combined - more or less doesn't need her pet out. As Rhyela said, I keep them out because I like them, not because they're actually helping me kill the mob.
It makes me wonder if - due to complaints perhaps - Blizz tweaked pet threat generation to be more reliant on the hunter's agility or attack power, and less on the pet class or pet itself. I haven't done much soloing with my level 70 hunter in a while, but she's decked out in heirlooms and Kara epics, and I don't remember her having a threat issue?

I only have threat problems on my lowbies. My main never has pet problems especially with a tenacity pet (they can pull across off a tank I've found out). At lower lvls, I just do too much damage for a pet to keep agro.
Re: Is it me or did they nerf our pet threat?
lower levels always experienced threat problems every hunter i have ever leveled i have not noticed anything
and at higher levels, if ur still pulling threat from your pet for whatever reason: Glyph of Misdirection, if im not mistaken, its one of the staple glyphs for every hunter, seeing how the majority of our major glyphs kinda suck

I really haven't noticed any issues with threat. I think your problem with the 'explosive shot' issue really is because your gear is bad. Explosive Shot is INCREDIBLY threat-ful, and if your pet has no gear from which to improve its own stats (your pet relies on your stat mods to make itself better, even more than any talents you give it), then you're simply overriding anything the pet can do from the get-go.
Either switch to BM (which gives your pet more benefit from what gear you have) or avoid using Explosive until you get gear with some stats on it.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

Re: Is it me or did they nerf our pet threat?
Well, it could be something to do with the fact that blizzard, I believe, has said that they LARGELY balance the game around endgame. Which means things don't necessarily work "as intended" until later levels.
I have noticed while leveling my new gobby (Who I'm trying out MM as the main spec.. will pick up BM duel spec when I can though for the few pets, and to have a more familiar spec if people ever whine about my MM, heh), if I don't one-shot things with aimed shot... it WILL pull aggro. Doesn't matter how long the pet has been fighting. Sometimes even just a few arcane shots. She just recently hit level 40, and I do definitely have some stat gear...
So, I would say it's either an unintentional bug caused by the threat changes in player tanks, or, it's simply a biproduct of the fact that they balance endgame (or at least, certain tiers) and that throws off our pet's aggro management abilities.
