Re: A few pet things I think would be fun to see
The thing with "killing the hunter-pet bond" with removal of happiness, feeding etc. is that people who don't want any special "bond" to the pet, wouldn't have it anyway - to them it's just a nuisance (e.g. raiders who all take wolves or core hounds, and never use anything else - except for bears or turtles when they're questing). Those are the people who treat pets only as buffs. Now, if someone cares about his pets and what they are, he will do it regardless of silly game mechanics telling you your pet needs to be fed AGAIN because he got hungry since last 5 minutes. I do have a special "bond" with most pets I end up using, having stories and justifications for most of them - and that's a character I started after Cata launch and all those changes.

See pet. Tame pet. Fight. I want to get a pet, not solo a H 25m boss. In fact, the goofy "challenge tames" are the reasons why I will never bother with Deth'tilac and Solix; I don't want taming to be a chore.Sesamee wrote:I
And I LOVE the idea for the "real tame". Instead of just casting a spell on them and bam they're ours, having to work over time for it would be amazing.

I still feed my pets for a raid boss down as my OCD way for saying good job...~shrugs~ but thats just me. I do have to agree about not HAVING to feed the pet, its a pain for some and if they bring back making us feed our pets why not make us carry amo again?...if you wish to get that indepth with the game that would only make since too...Im just saying. You still have the feed pet button..put it on your tool bar and feed your pet for a boss down or a job well done in a PvP event.
I do.
That and I LOVE my pet emote. I have had MANY people actually complement me on it (and a few complain but each to their own) I love all my pets, I take the time to plan out what pet I want, from where, the name it will have after I have tamed it and that just my OCD thing. I do not tame anything just because (ok...I did tame Karoma to save him from being slaughtered by someone but he has grown on me and will stay in my family) I can see where some treat a pet as a nother peice of gear but that is thier choise in thier game play
I personaly LOVE the tame challanges and it only made me want some of those pets all that much more. The thought of having to feed a prospective pet for like a week is kind of a neat idea I wouldnt mind seeing...I think it would be fun but it should be made into something that has to be done for those who dont want to bother.

That slow tame idea kind of reminds me of getting the Venomhide Ravasaur and having to feed that little baby dinosaur every day with whatever its little picky mind came up with!
Which I kind of enjoyed.

Some people like a challenge. If you went into a H 25m boss and one shot it what would be the point? The challenge tames are fun to some people. It took me 3 tries to get Deth and I like him all the more for it. If you don't want to tame a pet by winning it over then don't. But I think it's a great idea for those of us who do.Monica Gems wrote:See pet. Tame pet. Fight. I want to get a pet, not solo a H 25m boss. That's one thing I wish they did with the Panther Cub in Stranglethorn. And like the Winterspring Cub for the Wintersrping Mount.
They should do something like that but for a Rare Pet Challenge. The Challenge is to raise it, instead of Taming it.

Re: A few pet things I think would be fun to see
I would be on board with this one. It would allow me to use my less frequently used pets more often.#1 Choice of talent tree.
I think this would help hunters further be able to use their choice pet in more situations, rather than boxed into dps, tank, pvp
I would not want these to have sockets. Too much fuss over gear already.><. I just want it to be like a little grey item or maybe a cosmetic buff like the awesome trinket you get from the Pa'Troll dailies. Just something to make you smile when you look at your pets stats.#2 Pet Collars
Nothing cosmetic so they'd have to touch models, but something that would give hunters a way to personalize their pet at least a little, while still not being able to be an over-advantage, as any hunter could do their pet the same way. Maybe it could even have an armor quality to it, mabe there could be different ones, dropped, crafted...
Call me crazy, but I actually kind of miss loyalty levels. It was always fun to tame a new pet and constantly spam their stat page to see if they leveled up or not. When they were your best friend (level 6), they lots more damage and didn't need as much food anymore. It bonded me to my pets that way (plus the three slots we had made things rather difficult to let go of one of them) The food thing at times was a pain in the butt, that could be easily resolved if blizz just let our pets eat whatever (unlike turtles with their rather irritating diet). *Love autolevel though. It was awful to tame a pet and have to grind it to whatever level you were.#3 Anyone else miss having to actually work/train your pet? Instead of it feeling like gear or a weapon anymore? I'd love to see an 'option' where you could raise your pet, like is done with a couple of the mounts. A hunter talent/skill that would allow you to go out and locate a baby that you could raise, and what you feed it/do with it affects how it is once grown. So go easy and use cookie cutter pets, or invest time and effort and get a more specialized pet.
No. Please no. I say if it were to be implemented, just put back in the loyalty system with the rebellious through best friend stages. Because the endless feeding back then would be better than endless dailies (dailies are so boring), then you'd get your pet immediately but you get benefits if you raise it.#4 A 'real' tame. I'd like to see a 'unique' pet that you can't just tame/kill. Try killing it, and it runs off, despawns for a short while. To tame it, you have to keep coming to it and feed it/ work with it until you 'win it over' like you would a true wild animal.
My own thing I would like to add to this list is a "Dated Tamed" stat in the corner or something so you can see when the wild beast became your friend.
