Leveling a new hunter, yay!

Unread post by Helsinki »

I split my time on two realms, one of which has my horde toons and the other which has ally toons. The ally realm was the very first one I started on 6 years ago, and though I've been playing horde almost exclusively for about 4 years, I have been spending a lot of time on the ally realm to play with my original guildies. I primarily play healers (love all the classes but paladin) and, of course, hunter. The other day I got my femdorf shaman to 85, which completed my healer set: 2 each (one horde, one ally) of shaman, priest, druid, and I decided that I needed to complete my full set by leveling an ally hunter. My hunter was sitting at level 28 on Monday, and I decided I wanted to do my best to get her to 84 before hallow's end is over. I managed to get her to 59 by Tuesday night :D I could've gone to 60 with only another half hour of playtime, but I didn't want to be overtired today and thus be unable to level tonight.

Anyway, I am having a blast on my new worgen hunter. The other hunters I played hit level 70 halfway through TBC, so it's been a very long time since I've experienced the joy of leveling a lowbie hunter. I thought I would do what I usually do - waste all my time camping rares while leveling instead of actually leveling - but I impressed myself by mostly sticking with just one pet for my leveling adventures :D I tamed Humar at level while wandering through the barrens on my way to look for Takk the Leaper. I was never a huge fan of Humar, but the little guy just kind of spoke to me, and after using him for a few instances I realized how well he matches my character. I named him Stavros and while running up the ramp at Tower Point, Stavros likes to trail behind a bit and I always find myself fretting over where my kitty is. I've had many pets I really like on my horde hunter, but never any that I felt I truly 'bonded' with (aside from Deth perhaps, but obviously I couldn't spend all my leveling days with her haha). I also have a delightful crab I tamed impulsively in Swamp of Sorrows, whom I named Murphy. My stables are full, but very few of my pets were tamed after level 22 or so. I'm proud of myself! haha

I'm also enjoying being a worgen. This baby hunter sat at 28 for quite a while because every time I got the itch to play her, I regretted the fact she was a worgen instead of a female dwarf like my priest and shaman. But the more I played her, the more I grew to really like her race. The animations are great, running wild is so fun (and hilarious), and it's very cool that I can change pretty much everything about the way my worgen looks in the barber shop. And being able to pop into human form out of combat is fantastic as well.

I hope to have my worgen at 70 in the next few days, and at 80 by the end of next Tuesday. After leveling 28-59 in one weekend (41-59 in one day!), I feel that these are definitely feasible goals, even with my work schedule! I haven't leveled a lowbie in so long since most of my toons were already 80 when Cata hit - it's nice to get that nostalgic happy feeling again in this game. Thanks for reading :)

I recently decided to try out Humar on my worgen hunter (she'd had a brown lynx before), and have been pleased with the result.

Hello! I know and agree about the feeling of Humar. I started a new hunter and she is level 20 and she has two kitties, her starter and Humar (who I named Eien because I would always have him by any new hunters' side because I fell in love of with him when leveling my first toon. Eien means eternal/forever) I am pleased as well as he is always doing an awesome job in protecting my toons. I am glad that you like him and I hope he serves you well.

I had tamed Humar back in TBC on my horde hunter, and I kept him for a while, but the scraggly mane graphics really bothered me so I released him and didn't bother trying any other azeroth lion models after. But when I saw him sleeping under his tree on my worgen hunter, I couldn't resist the urge to tame him. His mane graphics are still terrible, but now I look at it more as him having bed head from sleeping under trees all the time :b I was in winterspring yesterday to look for Rak'shiri, whom I found (I also saw Sian-Rotam sleeping under the rock, but I left him be), and I also tamed a white saber cat. I ran instances with both, and while I like them, they just aren't Stavros.

It was certainly unexpected that I would bond with this cat, but I adore him! :D
