Let's Talk Croc's!

Unread post by Sesamee »

A few nights ago I couldn't sleep and was watching a late night string of documentaries about crocodiles. Now the WoW crocolisks never appealed to me as pets so imagine my surprise when I began to feel the urge to get up and tame one...like right now! I looked over the skins on Petopia and thought "hmm maybe the white one". I flew to Dustwallow Marsh to tame Deadmire and as soon as I saw him I thought "definitely the white one"!! He's so big and gorgeous and just stunning.

I swear he didn't leave my side for an entire day of wow, I did dailies, did some mining, some bg's all with my favorite new pet! His special ability, Ankle Crack (ouch!!!) is a huge help with melee as it saves some gcd's not having to Conc shot all the time. I named him Casanova because male crocodiles are wonderful tender lovers and know how to court their lady croc's. Did you know they blow bubbles to tickle the necks of the females during courtship?? How adorable is that? So Casanova it had to be!

Am I the only person who's fallen for a croc?? I'd love to see some of your stories and pics of your favorite Crocolisk pets. Show me yours, I'll show you mine?? lol here's Casanova in all his handsomeness:

D'aawwwww, you two are adorable together. Great name! If I didn't already have too many tanking pets, I'd probably have a croc in my stable. I love the new Cata skins.

Eee, best thread ever! :D

I adore crocolisks, and that's due to my intense love for crocodiles and alligators in real life. They're my favourite animals, hands down. I'll take some screenies of Aleister and post them in here later. ^^

I also own the Purple Croc from Cata. I never really thought I would grow attached to a Crocodile in game, but he's helped me out of plenty tough ends before.

He was specially known in my guild's Blackwing runs. When it came to dealing with the Handler and Drake pats. My guild would specifically ask me to bring out Jigsaw just to handle an add, and the healers would play games of how long they could keep him alive. =P

I also have the white croc that I use a lot in the bg's. Love his constant slow to help slow down flag carrier and melee fighters. He can really agrivate them with the ankle crack hehe.

This thread made me wish to try out a croc, so I looked around and found a model I enjoyed.

Meet Zoo!

Zoolal, which is Arabic for 'Clear, Pure, Cool Water', is fondly called 'Zoo' or 'ZooZoo' for short.

I originally thought the model was rather drab, but honestly he has a ton of little details! He has a gold-ish belly with splashes up the sides, speckles on his back, and little detailing from scales and more. He's really gotten a lot of personality and I think he is going to be a steady in my stable.

Ok, so I knew that as BM, Ankle Crack was up nearly constantly. I've started getting into PVP lately, and I've found that I like using rooting pets (though I enjoy using my Bird of Prey as well). I hadn't tried using a Tenacity pet before, since I figured as BM I would want something that does a lot of damage. But this thread made me want to give a crocolisk a try. So I tamed my favorite skin, Gosh-Haldir, and gave her the Tenacity dps spec.

I just got out of a Tol Barad battle, and boy... I can see the appeal! Ankle Crack is awesome! It was much, much easier to kite melee around, and I didn't have to worry as much about conc shotting them. I was worried about not doing enough damage, but I found enemies were dying well enough anyways. I can see how having a tougher to kill pet will come in handy as well.

We lost Tol Barad - but hardly anyone was there (not surprising for a Wednesday morning). But I still had a lot of fun with my new friend. Her name is now "Aggro"... not a very feminine name, but she's a tough ol' girl.

Here we are sitting by the lake in Stormwind, contemplating life. ;)

She doesn't really match my transmog set, but I just couldn't click with the brown crocs from Uldum. She does have some brown spots on her though!

I love how each of the named crocolisk mobs have their own individual personality (at least to me they do xD). They're all so awesome. There's big ole Vern stalking the sewers of Dalaran, he's always seemed like such a friendly old croc who's content to live down there. The intimidating Horrorjaw lurking in his pool in the Wetlands, surrounded by the corpses of raptors. Rotgrip in Maraudon has always fascinated me since the first time I ran that dungeon back as a baby in Vanilla and fell on top of him, he's so enormous and frightening but beautiful in the murky water. Sewer Beast is living legend that I was obsessed with, and I finally got to see him for the first time recently. Deadmire is like a pale ghost glimpsed amid the marshes of Dustwallow...I could go on about all of them. ._. If I ever get around to levelling my troll hunter, Gazini, I want one of each croc model in her stables. :)

Goretooth is probably my favourite NPC crocolisk (though I love them all, truthfully). I had him tamed for a long while back in Wrath, but I realized I liked him more as his true persona, in the wild. I always try to visit him when I'm in Outland, he has so much personality. I especially love finding him in the little tiny lake in the southeast. It's like his own wading pool!

Then once Cataclysm came along and the purple croc was released I knew I had found my destined croc. :D Aleister has such a deadly beauty to him. <3

My favorite pet in wrath was my marsh-green-skinned Krikey, who I released back into the wild when they replaced bad attitude with ankle crack. But after a while I really missed having a croc, so at first I tried taming a color changer from just outside gilneas. But they don't do the croc-o-snort! Not proper crocs at all. I ended up taming one of Krikey's babies, Meander.

Awesome stories and screen shots, everyone!

Kalhoun, I so agree that croc's are great in pvp. I didn't think Casanova would turn out so good for it. But he tears melee up in bg's! Or at least slows them down while I do  .

An update!

I've been PVPing so much with my croc! I now almost have an entire PVP set for the first time in my WoW career.

Though I love Gosh-Haldir's skin, she wasn't really clicking with Kalhoun. So after my friend was questing in Uldum, and summoned Gorebite for me, Aggro has now changed color. I think her/his (the purple skin seems more male to me... I dunno) new look matches my PVP set a lot better.

Image

I've been having so much fun, I was inspired to draw this really horrible thing. I apologize for it. It's hideous. XD
