I actually wanted to do this challenge, since I adore white warpstalkers. I headed out to Terrokar, went into the forest and found them all over. I actually had two fighting over me! Or fighting with me. Haha. Anyway, I chose one and tamed her, and she immediately took out her former buddy who failed to win my love:

I love Jo. White warpstalkers are gorgeous. I really want to keep her, but that would mean releasing one of my other, much loved pets. I will never release Gezzarak...I might release Lily, my blue dragonhawk, to keep Jo, but I'm not sure. Like most warpstalkers, she's a pretty good tanking pet and has adorable animations. I might just be biased (I LOVE warpstalkers so much), but I think ANY warpstalker of any color is great. Tame a white one as soon as you can! If you like them, of course! Time Warp is very nice (not as nice as it used to be; the warpstalker used to teleport directly to the target), as it slows the mobs down, making it nicer and easier to fight. I love warpstalkers. The end. =P

Wolves are perfectly fine, as are normal spiders, just no dogs or shale/lava spiders. Also adding, NO RHINOS! I hate those things.

My pet this time was the Red and Purple owl. I remembered noticing how beautiful they were when I was in the area taming Gazzarak the Huntress a few weeks ago. So I headed back there and found one of my own. This model is also in Sethekk Halls but the Skettis area of Tarrokar Forest is easier IMO. Of course at 85, the tame went off without a hitch:


I named her Carina since it means sky. And such a pretty bird deserves an equally pretty name. She has gorgeous colors ranging from orange, to rust, to a deep red and purple. I really like this model a lot. Very fiery and appropriate for a "battle bird" in the cunning tree.


There was a beautiful moon in the forest so I snapped a few screen shots:




Being a cunning pet, I just had to do a bg with her. Plus I love Snatch! So helpful with melee and even other hunters. This bg turned out to be kind of boring, not a ton of action, and Horde won easily so I couldnt get tons of action shots but I did what I could.

I took her running back in Durotar to see how she moved. She flies very gracefully and silent, just like a real owl.


While I really liked Carina I already have Olm so she's been released back to go fly around Outland! But she is gorgeous and one of my favorite owl models.

ok, my pet challenge was HawkBane, a lv 70 rare in terokkar Forest,up in the Skettis.

she's an easy tame, freeze trap, then tame

here she is wild, feasting on a sketti (i'm taming her)

the only other mob like her is King Bangalash in STV,
she does good dps, and i'm likeing her Model,

So my first challenge was the Green Nether Ray model. Lucky for me I randomly have my hearth set in zangarmarsh to farm the firefly pet so I walked out of the town and quickly found my target. I circled the ray numerous times before I decided he was the one. I decided not to trap him so he could learn how tough I am and realize I would make a great companion. His name is not something that came easy. I decided to keep it simple and name him after his appearance and home. Grenzang taken from Green and Zangarmarsh seemed to fit. I am not sure if he will be staying in my stables for long but I am glad I tamed him.

My pet this time was a Red Devilsaur. I love Devilsaurs although red is my least favorite color. Still, they're awesome looking beasts and they make huge gigantic pets! I just knew I had to tame the Devilsaur Queen in Un'Goro. I"ve seen her often and she's so imposing and majestic looking.


The only thing difficult about the tame was getting it all into the screenshot:


Once tamed Devilsaurs shrink a lot, I mean A LOT! They really have to though because it just wouldn't be practical to have such a gigantic pet at your side. This shot shows just how much they shrink after taming. Still, they are very large pets nonetheless.


I named her Nika as it means ferocious. If Devilsaurs are anything they are ferocious. I just adore them all! I took her for a run in Un'goro. She moved very gracefully for such a big girl. Here she is gloating over the corpse of a beast foolish enough to disturb her on her run lol:


Then it was off to Uldum to take some shots in better light and see what she could do in combat.


She has some gorgeous colors on her head but the rest of her body is pretty much dominated by an orangy red color.


Her combat animations are a stomp, which is pretty awesome to see a big gigantic beast stomping something to death, and she also does a lunge and bite animation:



As much as I love Devilsaurs my Vixen will always be THE Devilsaur for me. I just love her too much and think she is too perfect to ever have another one. I made the mistake of releasing her once, immediately regretted it, and ended up flying around Un'Goro for almost an hour looking for her. I won't make that mistake again and Vixen is here to stay. Sorry, Nika!


So Nika's been released to go back to ruling Un'Goro like a queen should! She's always up so anyone can go admire her beauty....as long as they don't get too close!

My challenge this time was the brown beetle!

The brown beetle skin is found on the Silithid Defender, a mob in the underwater silitid nest in Thousand Needles. He was easy to find, and no trouble to tame.



The first thing I noticed about Mr. Beetle is that he has no swim animation. He skitters along under the water, and stands still when I'm treading water.



We surfaced and I got a better look at my new friend, now named Ottoman. Because he reminds me of a footrest. Between a ravager and a beetle I've got a chair and footstool. Bur I digress.

For a brown critter, he's got a fair bit of color variation in him. From golds, bronzes, browns, even some weird pink highlights to be had here. He's pretty active, clicking his mandibles, wiggling around, he's pretty much the opposite of a worg as far as pet motions go.



Kind of charmed by my wiggly insect companion, Ottoman and I decided to have an adventure. What better way to have an adventure than to kill a dragon? So we did just that.



As far as tanking goes, he's a pretty solid little dude. His carapace shield is nice. His dps isn't so great, but that's okay, he's a tank. Eventually we did down the dragon. He was very proud of himself!



Overall, Ottoman was surprisingly charming. I don't always click with the insect pets, but he's a pretty good one. If it weren't for the fact I already have a turtle, I'd consider finding a different color for my stables.

I think I am going to bow out of Challenge Tames for awhile now. I have my stable...uhm...stable for now and like all the pets I have currently and have no desire to get rid of them. When I get bored with my current pets or decide to release some I don't use, I'll come back for more random fun.

If asked to, I would, but it isn't necessary. It'd be neat to do if Tyger wants me to review them. However, I can love my pets in private just as well as if I post here saying how much I like them.

Pet Report: Brown worm.

I decided to tame the Brown worm available in the blades edge mountains. I didn't have any issues with taming the pet. The first thing i noticed is how large the worms are. It is taller than me even with the smaller pet glyph.

The second which i quickly noticed is that the special attack "Burrow Attack" requires the hunter to activate it, it makes the pet immune to mobs! I rather quickly found that I did not like this aspect of the pet considering it is a tanking pet.

However I stumbled on something that many other hunters probably already knew, but the worm is great for reseting mobs. While with any other pet you can easily FD and let the pet die, I found that I could trigger burrow and then FD and mobs would evade and reset. While all this did was save the met time of rezzing the pet i found it very effective when running through mobs.

Lastly I found the burrow attack at least at my level to be very strong for instance trash. Since it is an AOE attack, it often did over half my damage on trash mobs when instancing with it. On single target fights it is very underwhelming however.


Pros: good AOE DPS, resetable with mobs.

Cons: bad special ability as a tanking pet, Very ugly.


I could easily see myself using a worm for soloing when fighting no elites, but would probably favor one of the WotLK style worms more than the old ones.

Can I get another one to work on please?
