I suppose I should have said bulls not tauren, in re: the earlier analogy to Tauren and fierce bulls.

Re: Lulzy image for people raging about Pandas
Good. Would be a little silly having to eat just bamboo.

Re: Lulzy image for people raging about Pandas
Eh. I was a little disappointed that we were getting a Kung Fu Panda expansion, but I'm not unhappy about it. I'll roll a panda, and then I'll make a Tauren monk because Tauren>Pandas.Worba wrote:Yes. If being an herbivore doesn't make tauren passive and submissive, why would it make pandas that way. So sick of players with limited imagination pooh-poohing any and every interesting idea until game developers flesh it out enough that they can see it walk and talk... and THEN they love it and pretend they always have.Andine wrote:If you get to close to a wild panda, it can tear your friggin' head off - not because it wanted to eat you - but because you annoyed them with your smelly human presence. Don't get yourself brain-washed by pop-culture.
I've always thought pandaren would make a cool race since WC3.
Plus pandas weren't always herbivores, fwiw.
Anyhoo, being an herbivore doesn't make an animal less aggressive and/or dangerous. It all depends upon the animal. Also, people tend to base their image of cattle upon domesticated cows they see in fields and on tv. One has to take into account that humans have bred cattle, horses, sheep, etc to be docile morons (with the possible exception of dairy cows. They're not all that smart, but dang they can be mean). Compared to bison, buffalo, and other wild cattle, the ones we keep are pretty much 'challenged.' The video a few years back of some Cape Buffalo kicking the crap out of lions to save one of their calves gives an idea of how wild cattle really are.
I can't hold that against people. After all, I don't know much at all about pandas, other than it seems like every few years scientists change their minds as to whether they're bears, raccoons, or their own special family. My only experience with them were Hsing Hsing and Ling Ling (or whatever their names were), the ones that the National Zoo got way way way back when. Those two, and the ones that followed, convinced me that China only exports the 'special' pandas to foreign zoos. Remember the sexual harassment panda episode of South Park where he talks about "when one panda tries to put his fuzzy <part> in another panda's ear..."? That really happened. Hsing Hsing and Ling Ling couldn't ever even figure out how to mate properly. So, having grown up with that, I kind of have a view of pandas as being bamboo munching idiots that take zoo funding away from much more interesting animals like zebra.
Besides, who says Tauren and Pandaren are herbivores? Tauren got all them pointy teeth, even (at least in official art) upper incisors which real bovines don't have. Naw. Tauren are omnivores. Pandaren probably are too.

Re: Lulzy image for people raging about Pandas
So far I have been completely neutral about the Panda idea. I'm mostly waiting for more information or the expansion itself to really judge it. It might be great or it might be terrible. *shrug* There are a lot of weird races already, as the image pointed out (even more that weren't pointed out)

Ish true. So really no reason for anyone to whine about pandas....considering they've been around since Warcraft 3 give or take.

Yeah, in defense of pandas, they were introduced first in Warcraft 3, and even got a big section of a tabletop roleplaying game's book dedicated to fleshing out their homeland, culture, and practices. They have a lot of seniority to a lot of beloved and accepted beings that only surfaced in the initial release of World of Warcraft, or later, like worgen.Jessibelle wrote:Ish true. Worgen were not introduced at all until World of Warcraft itself, and the current storyline for them in Gilneas is almost taken word-for-word for a popular fan rumor from 2005 (the old was almost wholly discarded). But you didn't see much complaining over them! There's a few niggling snags with them, but overall they have blended in well and are liked.

In Wowmodelviewer there's an option for turning off both their tusks and their whiskers. It's the creepiest WoW model I've ever seen. Skin-crawling, gross dirty old man in the park kind of creepy. Must get a pic of it.Jessibelle wrote:I'm almost happy we cant be them...cause they'd be in goldshire.....XDBritany wrote:"naked walrus man"

Hey now, be nice to the Tuskarr! They're a gentle, thoughtful, and friendly race. How can you not like those adorable whiskers, either?
Lots of animals look terrifying if you chop off their distinctive parts. I've seen what an elephant looks like without a trunk or ears...ew.
