(In the wilds, Part 3 The Bear's Of The Dragons)
as i wander around alone in the clod frozen arctic of Dragonblight, i wonder how did i end up here? i has the perfect hunter, i had calmed the wolves, befriended the eagles, but yet, i ended up here, catching polar bear cubs to give to the meat vendor. the little condor that had followed me around so often that i gave her a name, Skyfire, had left to go do something, and so i'm left alone in the wood of Dragonblight. i spot a cub up a head, but where is it's mom? it's just sitting there crying out, looking for it's momma. i take out my net and walk over to it, but something stops me. i find it's mom, dead by the plague, it's body has enlarged so it looks nothing like it's supposed to, it's head is the size of a small tire. it stares at me with life-less eyes, puss running out of it's mouth, and every other open hole in it's body. the cub looked at me, then to the net in my hand - which promptly falls to the ground at the sight of the mother bear - then back to me. it's eyes held a pleading look, it would die either by nature, or by the cold, hard, unforgiving hands of the butcher. i lifted the little cub up and carried it back to the little tent i set up in a group of trees, what i call home. I start up a fire and bundle up the little cub, to keep it warm as possible. i take the reins of my faithful Hawk Strider and run down into Agram's hammer for some goat milk. when i get back i find Skyfire playing with the little cub, but, when SkyFire see's me, she gives a loud "squawk" and flies off and lands in a near by tree. i gave a small laugh at the sight of the embarrassed condor. the cub gave out a loud cry cause i chased his playmate away. i gave out a small laugh and said to the condor, "you'd better get down here, and don't worry, i wont tell." the condor gave me a look, and flew down to the cub, who instantly run to her and snuggled up close. i looked at the startled condor, and and said, "i think she likes you" the condor gave me a look that said, "no duh." I gave a laugh, "well you better keep her warm for the night, i can't keep my fire going all night, the dragons don't like me, epically after
that incidence." the condor gave me a look saying, "don't bring
that up again." i gave a small chuckle before stamping the fire out and going to my tent, Skyfire wrapped her wings protectively around the cub, doing soft squawks to lull her into sleep.
~~~~~~~~
when i wake, i get the same feeling i get every day i'm out here in this fridge cold, sadness. it's as though the lush greens of grizzly hill where striped away, and only white, endless, cold, deadly white remained. and now, what little money i had left from my time in Grizzly hills, was going to be wasted on this miserable little bear cub. i sigh, quite too loudly, for it wakes Skyfire and the cub up, the cub gives me a quizzical look, but Skyfire knows what i'm thinking, for she untangles herself from the cub, and fly's off, in look of some food for us. just left with me to play with, the cub starts playing around with my bag, i try to shoo the cub away from my bag, but it wont leave, finally i go out and get something i
know it can't resist. i catch a couple
live rabbits and bring them back for the cub. when the cub sees what i have the reaction is instantaneous. i release one of the rabbits, which pelts off into the snow, the cub hot on it's trails. When the cub came back, it was proudly holding it's prize in it's mount. i stifle a laugh as the cub set the dead rabbit down at my feet, and looks up at the live rabbit in the cage. which i hang, high above the cub, to give it a challenge since just chasing it seems to be to easy. i watch as the cub paces down below the rabbit, like a hungry wolf waiting for it's prey to come down, which reminds me even more of my past glory. how did i even get here i wonder, i was doing good, the wolves had calmed down and made friends with me, the eagles are such good friends with me, that their leader showed me her new hatchlings - something that you really have to be considered a flock member to see. wait, maybe that's why i was kicked out, i was getting too powerful with all my animal friends, but, even if that was true the Taunka would have defended me to stay, unless.....
when Sky fire got back from her hunt, i talked with her about - she is a great listener, and to the locals around here, i
am crazy so i don't really care, i already tried to tell the i'm not crazy - what i had thought about. she gave me a puzzled look, then a squawk, then flew off to someplace. i glance over at the cub in time to watch it do a fabulous jump, as though it was trying to fly like a bird, to get the rabbit, still alive in it's cage. the cub nearly made it, but was just a few inches short of it's goal.
~~~~~
a couple days later, i went out to see if there was any work for me in town and the cub, though i tried to tell it not to, followed. Skyfire had returned, and had tried to make some attempts to tell me something, but had failed. so she flew off, trying to find somebody, it seemed. when i walked into the town with the cub following behind, everybody turned and stared at the cub. then, bids start flying into the air as people start asking how much for it. i starred at the, dumbfounded. i hadn't realized this little cub was worth so much, not that I'd sell it anyways, I've become to like the cub. as i walked around buying my thing's i was consonantly asked how much i would sell the cub for. and everybody got the same answer, no. they only person who didn't ask me a price was the captain of the village. he asked me where i got the cub from. I told him the blunt side of the story, her mother died to the plague, i found the cub, the cub avoided my attempts to catch it, but still followed me home - ok, that last part was made up yes, but you have to be tough to get into grizzly hills. when i get back to my camp, i find not only Skyfire in her tree, but a different bird as well. this one looked nothing like the birds that i had seen, and i soon found out why. she was a druid bird. she flew down from the tree and shifted to her regular form, she was a tauren, like me. "what do you want?" i asked her. she looked at me " your friend there", she pointed at Skyfire "told me that she needed to tell you something but you didn't understand bird tongue" the druid laughed, "it must be important if she came all the way to Borean Tundra to get me." i turned and starred at Skyfire who gave a squawk, as if to say "i tried to tell you." i looked back to the druid and motioned for her to sit and start talking. "your bird friend there, Skyfire i think her name is, told me to tell you that she thinks she knows why you was kicked out of Grizzly hills" the druid turned to look at the bird who nodded "She thinks that because of all your powerful animal Friends, The leader of Warsong hold thought that you where too powerful, so she plotted to kick you out, but the Taunka respected you, and would never agree to that. so she went out and in cold blood killed one of the tauren people in the hold, dressed it in your spare clothes, showed it to the Taunka and said that the worgen hunters got you, the Taunka are buying it, for now." Skyfire gave a squawk, and flew around in a circle, the druid looked up and said "i think she knows what to do now, she wants me, to help you, get back to where you are supposed to be," the druid looked down at the cub, "but what about this little gal?" she pondered. "I was gonna take her with me" i said, the druid looked at me, "you will?" she asked, "yes" i answered. "i named her WinterFire, for she is the Fire the burns the Brightest in this place of everlasting winter time." The druid said "good, she seems to like you anyways, we'll stay here for tonight, then move on. you do not belong in a place like this."

several weeks later, my group stops at the Taunka village in Dragonblight, to rest. I tell the lead Taunka to send out a bird messenger to give this letter to Lifefire, she'll know what to do with it from there. while we where the, WinterFire - now slightly more grown up - went to play around the falls.
