Tame difference..

Unread post by Mitsakos »

Hello there,

So I was wondering, is there any real difference between taming for example Anthriss or Cinderweb Creeper? Aren't exactly the same? :/

Thank you!

No difference at all. If you're not in it for the thrill of the tame (which a lot of folks on here are, myself included), there's no reason to wait for Anthriss. :)

I am kinda pissed off because while I was trying to tame it I was being "rped" by 4 hordes which were needed (lol) in order to kill me and tame it (4 tries, 3 healers 1 hunter hah..)

The thrill of the hunt! Makes your successful tame all the sweeter. :)

It seems to be 50/50 on who likes the tames and who doesn't; for every post I see celebrating a successful trick tame, I see one saying "Oh, I just <work-around method> and got <pet> easy-peasy."

Since no one will be able to tell the difference without you setting off NPCScan, get whichever one YOU want. I had absolutely zero interest in Kirix (too much hassle), but he spawned before I ever saw the little guys. After some encouragement from my Man Thing, ~5min looking up how to do it proper (without the evade glitch being triggered), and enough deaths to hand me a 45 sec rez timer, I got it done.

I wish I could say I felt pride, but I don't feel strongly about having THE KIRIX either way. I wanted a green spider, I got one. The how was totally irrelevent to me. I only used the disengage method because I saw the other way was failing for the 4 or 5 others trying to tame at the time. I also used the silence shot method for Skarr... Frankly, the other ways seem so fickle about if they work or not, I feel safer doing it the "trick" way, even though I'm not a fan of having to jump through hoops to land a successful tame.

i agree with you on that and really that's about what 95% of the hunters that play the game agree on to. As long as you got the pet look you want it doesn't matter how ez or hard it was to get it the fact is you got it

I feel it's all personal preference. I wasn't really after Kirix, but when I saw he was up (fairly soon after the challenge tames were added) I joined in, taking my turn with the other hunters who were trying for him. I don't know if anyone even knew about the rock method at that point. It took a number of tries and a bit of a repair bill, but I got him. Really, I went after him because I wanted to see if I could beat the challenge. Since then Kirix has grown on me and he's my favorite of the molten spiders.

It all depends for me upon whether it's a unique skin and/or whether I want to try to do the challenge. After a few months of searching for Krush, I'd have gladly tamed some non-rare devilsaur with the same skin. If I'd been dead set on a green molten spider, after about the 4th death, I might've gone over and tried to tame one of the 'regular' ones.

Whether or not another hunter's spider is Kirix doesn't really matter to me. What matters to me is that my buddy, now named Wihio, shows (to me at least) that I got a challenge tame done. I don't consider myself to be a better hunter Wihio to be better pet just because he used to be Kirix.

I remember wanting a green spider - waited a looong time for broodlings during which it seemed every other server was reporting constant spawns... so when Kirix spawned I figured why not. Well, as it happened I didn't have quite enough HP at the time for the disengage method, and the rock tame was glitching out, so it went to someone who had a pally to bubble her.

So I got myself a corehound, speed potion, macro, etc etc and was all ready to go another adrenaline filled round with Kirix when lo and behold the broodlings finally started spawning on my servers... tamed one of them, deleted my macro, and never looked back. XD

I tame the rare version of any pet I get because I like knowing I put effort into finding and taming it. It makes them feel more special to me.

I went for Anthriss because she was the first lava spider I saw and went <3 for. Gotta have my naner spider. But Bananaspider 2.0 will be a common version. :D
