oil stained wolf
Hello all, I seem to be having issues taming the oil-stained wolf as a hordie using the /script PetAbandon() macro method. I start spamming the macro when the cast timer has about 2-1.5 seconds left but always end up with no wolf at all
any tips from people who have used this method, or is it just a luck thing, and I happen to be very unlucky today?

Re: oil stained wolf
Blizzard supposedly hot fixed the Pet Abandon macro so that's could be why it's not working.

Make sure you have two free pet slots open before you do this. Tame the pet normally, dismiss it, NOT ABANDON! Then tame the oil wolf how it normally was tamed using /script PetAbandon() to get the look. Do that whole timed tame, log out,and log in thing. Then call back your wolf and the second one you tamed should be oil covered. The trick to this new way is having the NPC ID already with you. Try this and see if it works for you, I used it a few days ago to get a pink bear

Yep, just did it......took a few tries but having the NPC ID already on you seems to do the trick.

Re: oil stained wolf
did you have an ally player doing the quest? if not, horde can't tame them with the buff.
Re: oil stained wolf
This is now false.Nightsights wrote:did you have an ally player doing the quest? if not, horde can't tame them with the buff.
Anyone can tame the wolf even if they do not have the quest or quest item.
You tame it how it was described above.
I play Horde and I have tamed it both ways, so I know it works even if you don't have an alliance throwing the meat.
Re: oil stained wolf
i can confirm that as of like sunday i think it was, the macro still works normally. no need for extra pet slots or anything. if you spam it it will not work. just hit it ONCE at around 1sec or less (depending on lag) and it will work fine. picked up a oil stained wolf, and lone hunter (again) to purely check the macro. worked fine.
Re: oil stained wolf
I tried the macro method... no success.
Also, please give exact details on how the procedure has to be done:
- when you press that macro, (once only?) like half a second before the tame ends, should you hear that ding sound that you tamed the wolf, or must that be prevented? I had both versions, none succeeded.
- what is meant by logout? Log your character out of the game, or also log out of your warcraft account? Tried both, no success.
So this is what I understood up to now:
- tame an oil-stained wolf the normal way, dismiss it but keep it in your characters mobile stable
- tame a second oil-stained wolf, but right before the tame ends (like 1 sec) press your /script PetAbandon() macro once (unclear if only once, also unclear wether you should hear the tame sound this time, or not)
- log out and relog and then call your wolf (the normally tamed one, as there shouldn't be any other, also unclear what logout means: character out of game, or also logout from account)
Help?

Re: oil stained wolf
What I, and my friend did was, she feed it, then I tame, and attempt it to get it to despawn right on the tame. Worked after getting the timing perfect.

This thread is rather old, the macro no longer works.
