Melee Weapons to be Used for Show!!

Hooray! I had a feeling Blizzard would come around on that after introducing transmogrification. Too many players collect melee weapons. I love that we don't need them for combat any longer, but to not allow us to equip them entirely would have been quite sad.

This is definitely good news for us collectors.

That said, sadly I had already started deleting a few weapons that I knew I could get again.... with time, but simply to make room for things I knew could at least equip (which now I'm regretting a tad)

I know that there was discussion of letting us visually letting us see our quivers or ammo pouches instead, but for me, if it's not our gun/bow/xbow slung across our back, I don't think it will be all that fair. Can you imagine if for your warrior, instead of seeing your sword on your hip or across your back, you only ever got the see a small sheathed handle? (I know that it is not 100% confirmed, nor do we know the possible customization of thus mentioned quiver/pouch designs/aesthetics, but could a quiver live up to the glory of a bow strung over ones shoulder?)

But again, I am very glad one can at least equip weapons now though, definitely a step in the right direction.

Agreed, though, ranged weapons across the back would have a huge visual difference. I so hope they can achieve this.

I just hope they're also planning on giving meleers +100 on all need rolls for weapons, because otherwise I could see this turning ugly fast - can you imagine playing a rogue and having a hunter /need a sword or dagger away from you... all just so they can pose in it out of combat?

If they can guarantee that scenario won't happen, then I wouldn't object to it, though it'll feel pretty strange - people are going to be writing up macros just so they can switch out of "cool looking" melee weapons when they enter combat, and then again when combat ends.

Technically hunters can do the same thing now. It would be no different. I don't go around needing on cool looking swords that I don't need, but I could if I wanted to.

So you will be able to have both the sword and bow on at the same time and can see them, but you just cannot use the sword- its only for show? If so then i think a happy dance is in order.

It's the same weapon equipment slot. It sounds like ranged weapons will be shifting to the main hand slot, so you won't be able to equip both at the same time.
