I haz it! After a rather crappy day today: 1) found out I'm not pregnant (though we weren't trying, it would have been a very welcome surprise); 2) got kind of lectured at by my brother who thinks I'm not ready for one anyway (not mad at you though! <3); 3) had to clean out our fridge because we had some old milk (forgot about it there in the back behind the juice) that leaked everywhere and stunk up the place; 4) didn't get to do our raid...etc. Just a lot of stupid annoying crap that built up over the day. Anyhow, I really didn't want to play tonight but I had already logged on to see if my brother was on, and a guildie asked if I wanted to chain-run the heroic ICC instances. I reluctantly agreed, and after spending forever waiting in the queue, we finally got H PoS I think. Did that instance, re-queued, and got FoS. Thankfully the tank was cool and said he'd do another with us, so we re-queue again and (obviously) got H HoR. So we're piddling along when suddenly, the [Battered Hilt] drops! Need rolls start flying, and in the midst of all the chat crap, I see, "You receive loot: [Battered Hilt] ". Yay!!!

Then a short while later we got into an Onyxia 25-man PuG. I've never done that fight before so I was worried. Well, thankfully it went pretty smoothly, we only had maybe three deaths, and I won the head! Yay!!! So now I have a good necklace, too.

I started my hilt quest tonight but I'll have to finish it up tomorrow because bed calls. But I'm pretty happy overall. Still not in a fantastic mood but this helps a little. Woot!

I got this on a guildrun trough PoS. It was my first run there ever. It dropped from one of the Vrykul on the stair event.

The Battered Hilt is a item that starts a long quest chain that rewards you at the end a epic quality weapon. Those who can wield swords will earn Quel'delar and those who cannot will be able to choose from three possible weapon choices, all which are maces.

It's basically the highest item level weapon (251) you can get outside raiding, Huntress. Honestly, though? The reason I really, really want it is that it's an awesome, lore-filled quest chain. It makes me so sad that they make a quest chain like that and then make it so exclusive. Yeah, I can buy the hilt on the AH. If I have 10k gold. =_= I feel really let down by Blizz over this one, I have to say.

Congrats Rhyela! Sounds like quite a night, I'm sure it's a little comfort. I know what it's like to get that negative test.

I did get a battered hilt a while ago, but I sold it to buy Primoridal Saronites to make my legs. I'd like to get my hands on another hilt so I can do the quest chain though.

Thanks folks, I'm quite happy that I will soon hold a piece of lore in my hands! Needless to say that even after it becomes obsolete (statwise) I'll still keep it.

I read through that quest chain on wowwiki and dang, I still have a long way to go. I'm on the part where I have to go to PoS. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it tonight!

I've yet to see one drop yet, but I hope I manage to get one at some point. xD At first I was considering selling it for the gold since I wasn't overly concerned with having an awesome weapon, but seeing as how I'm such a lore nerd I realized the epic quest chain would be totally worth it.

Honestly the thought of selling it didn't even cross my mind. I knew how much it goes for, but I was far more interested in having something really neat that you don't get every day. Plus I had heard the quest line was great, and I was rather curious about it. (Well, and my staff sucks so I could use an upgrade )

After I won it my brother whispered me, "You already have epic flying, skank!" So I told him I had no intention of selling it. Even the tank whispered me a congratulations later. I almost felt bad for using it when a melee class could use it, but if I feel bad about every neat thing that drops, I'll never get anything. And I'm sure I'll use it for a long time, anyway, so it's all good.

I took a couple screen shots of some of the quest line. I wish I had taken more, but I was kind of wrapped up in reading and watching how it played out that it slipped my mind. It was a fun quest and I feel very happy to own a piece of lore. :3 Ooops, I think some of my nerd flopped out! *tucks it back in*

Congrats! I saw the battered hilt drop twice now. Won it the first time and gave it to my druid alt since Wassa already had a better weapon from ICC 25.

Wow congrats! I Wish I got that lucky and had one drop for me (and win!). I still have my fingers crossed that one will drop for me some day in the future. xD The GL of my guild had one drop during one of his runs just the other day. He wanted to sell it but everyone was all "NO!" in guild chat. lol
