Arcturis 2nd spawn point

So, I don't know if you guys have heard of tlpdresource.com, but the guy who runs it has helped many, many people get their TLPDs, PSDs, camels, and Poseidus, decided to quit a few weeks ago.

He talked about how Arcturis apparently has a second spawn point, but didn't provide any proof to back up that statement:

2nd arcturis spot still not on wowhead, 'nuff said. i just never got to it to go back out there and gather the proof to finally crack that motherfucker. Oh, no. you're right. those couple day no spawns of arcturis when people were literally there 24/7, no that's normal. (sarcasm, it's not normal. was spawning at the other spot.)

Normally, I'd call bullshit, but the reason I post this is because even after Cataclysm, Arcturis goes for periods of time without spawning at his only known spawn point that are far longer than the 3 other spirit beasts. When I camped him (this was during patch 4.2), the person who was also camping had been there for 21 hours straight (yeah, I'm wondering how they stayed awake for that long too) with no spawn. After they logged off, he spawned for me a couple of hours later.

Another reason I choose to post this is because Ponderance is a very trusted source when it comes to rare spawns. He did not provide any proof, but this leaves me to wonder: Is there really a second spawn point? If there is, I'm really surprised that there's no info on Wowhead. However, I want to figure this out because I just find it extremely odd that he goes so long with no spawns at his one spawn point. I mean, Loque, Skoll and Gondria have all had their spawn timers shortened while it seems Arcturis has not..?

Anyways, I apologize if this 2nd spawn point has been proved wrong. I remember hearing a rumor that he spawned near Grizzlemaw a while back, but I don't know how true that is.

So..my point is, is it true that he only has ONE spawn point? There's just something not right about his extremely lengthy spawn timer in comparison with the other 3 Northrend spirit beasts.

I'd like to point out that at some point, at some time, someone would have found it. It's an inevitable thing. I seriously, seriously doubt all of us could have gone this long without finally finding the second spot. I think he has a long as fel spawn time because he only has one spawn point. It's compensation.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I mean, it's been a very long time and I'm 95% sure that he only has one spawn point. However, I'm still a little curious because Magria and Ankha have one spawn point and even they have a shorter spawn timer than him. Same with Ban'thalos.

Agreeing with Azu. Had the Arcturis patch just come out, I'd wonder… But it's been a LONG time. We would know by this point.
Magria, Ankha and Banny all have remarkably low spawn times. The WotLK rares seem to have very long ones - I've heard a lot more camping horror stories for WotLK rares than any others, which is odd as it's much lower population.

Yeah, I figured everyone would just tell me we'd know by this point. I mean, that's what I would think. It's just...I don't know. They reduced all the spawn timers for the Northrend rares, though..it's really odd to me that they seem to have left Arcturis out.

Arcturis used to have a 21-24 hour spawn in Wrath, i dont think any of the other tameable rares had that kind of spawn, hes also beside an alliance hub and -i think- skinnable, chances are if hes been missing for longer then x amount of days hes been killed for exp and possibly skinned by the looter or someone else who came across him. Never, did any other spirit beast put me through as much hell as he did because his spawn is just that one point and it happens to be near an active player hub for people questing

Yeah arcturis has always had a very long respawn timer. I've camped him 3 times. It ranged between 16 - 28 hrs.

Arcturis has long rumored to have a second spawn point due to his long spawn time and spawning at only one point unlike the other spirit beasts at the time. Only way he would have a second spawn point without anyone picking up on it if it was a bugged spawn point, like under the ground or off the map. This is pretty unlikely, as if he did spawn in a bugged area I'm sure Blizzard would have fixed that by now. I believe his long spawn time is compensation for having one spawn point and being the lowest level spirit beast in game.

Pond is only human; he's not always right. His research on the mount-dropping rares was invaluable, but his data on some of his other theories wasn't always as solid.

At any rate, this is a heavy blow to the mount-hunting community. Reading Pond's farewell post, the guy seems to have finally suffered the massive, massive burnout that was inevitably going to hit him doing all that insanely detailed mount hunting. Hopefully the break will do him good!

Err, but yeah, on the subject of Arcturis, I've camped him multiple times and he's sometimes had a 22h or so timer. It sucks, but as others have already stated, if he had a second spawn point, it would have been discovered by now, unless it was bugged. I completely agree with Wassa that his long timer is compensation for only having one spawn point, not patrolling very far, nor being a trick tame. No other spirit beast is like him, so naturally, his spawn timer will work differently.
