You might not be able to race change into a Goblin or a Worgen right off the bat though. I have a feeling they'll implement a waiting period so people don't have high levels of the new races immediately.

It is- mostly to prevent 'world firsts' by people who simply race/faction changed. Think it was gonna be half a year? Or so. Idk.

I've never heard of a particular time frame. I'd imagine a month or perhaps two, considering how fast people power level for those feats of strength...

Edit: not to mention that Blizz really wants us to 1) experience the new races' starting zones and 2) wants us to experience leveling through the new Azeroth. Can't blame them, really. If I put that much work into something, I'd want people to use it and enjoy it.

Ghostcrawler said they wont be allowing players to changed to Goblin or Worgen's right away and they don't know yet when they will allow it.

I wouldn't change mine into a Worgen, you will miss out on all the fun stuff about there new zone. I've seen the start for a worgen, you are stuck with your head and arms in one of those things.(great way of explaining it huh? lol) This guy comes and wants to cure you then someone wants to kill you.. then the video was cut off.
This isn't the same video but it gives a glimpse of being locked up. (I couldn't find the other one)

Yeah I'm tempted... if the worgen druid forms are nice I'll probably change Echo. I'll be rolling a warrior and a warlock from scratch though! :)

I'm also making a goblin shaman. Cause shammies rock and goblins rock, so clearly that's a match made in heaven. ;)

Man, all this Cataclysm discussion is making me antsy! I want it NOW DAMMIT!!! D:

Even though people will not be able to switch their toons to worgen right away, people who are plotting to get any Worlds first will probably roll DKs to get the achievement. Causing a surge in the DK population for about a month. For those who don't want to roll DK, unless things change, they'll roll hunters, warlocks, and mages to try to reach the achievements since those two classes presently are the quickest to level.

I will be taking my sweet time though with the druid I plan to play. I just can't get the hang of having your worgen shift from human to worgen form to shoot a rifle, I'm leaning towards rifles as their starting weapon, while its the pets that'll be dishing out the pain.

Then again worgen just might be the fabled Melee Hunter if their claws are just as deadly as a bullet or their pets claws.

If all of the female worgen faces look excessively "pretty", I'll roll a mage. If they have one that looks a little meaner, or a little more menacing, warrior all the way baby. :D Of course this is subject to change over the next few months, as I tend to go from one class to another.

IF I remember right, you won't be able to roll a DK worgen right off the bat, either. But I could be wrong about that, so don't quote me.

I'm pretty sure that's what I heard too. I think Blizz wants the [Realm first: Level 80 Worgen] to be ground up the hard way. ;)

I would expect a 6 month delay race switching. Same time as new realm transfer delay.

I think that'd be excessive, Kayb. They aren't trying to restrict players from taking advantage of the new races (and you know MANY people are planning to race-change their mains), they're simply trying to leave the level 80 achievements to people that do it the hard way.

The new realm restriction exists for a different reason. They don't want people to transfer over a raiding guild and get every single realm first raiding achievement (and the subsequent rewards) instead of the people "native" to the server.

Yeah, having to wait. Not so bad, I plan to race change about, 3 or 4 of my toons. Something like that.

And I mean c'mon, who would want to miss out on the new starting zones for the goblin and worgen, hmm? ;)

I already have most of the heirlooms for my up and coming worgen hunter! *Laughs* I'll play through the goblin starter area once, like I did with the blood elves, then probably just forget about them. Though god only knows it can't make me pull out my hair anymore then that Blood elf area.....just...ugh.

I don't know about anyone else, but I plan on creating at least one new toon of each original race just to check out all the different starting zones - keep in mind that there are actually four completely new starting zones (worgen, gnomes, goblins, trolls), and most of the original starting zones will be revamped pretty heavily as well (humans, dwarves, night elves, orcs, undead, tauren). The draenei and blood elf starting zones will probably see fewer changes, although they may make more use of the phasing technology (the draenei quest lines in Bloodmyst are begging for a phasing update, and while I never finished Ghostlands on my blood elf, I suspect it is in a similar position).
