Re: Rant Thread
And my kid is being bratty today which sucks, Ive already gotten hit in the head with her sippy cup and have a nice lil headache going on, stressed from the lip I got from my BF for getting him to finish what he sould have last night. Mikayla's getting into everything today, papers, remotes, computers, stuff on the table...anything and everything she should not be going for she is... BF doesnt work till 6pm today, you'd think he'd atleast be a little more helpful with our kid...but he's to busy being mad at me...and its snowing to boot. which isnt so bad, I like the snow, but its just cold and wet.

I know. Hence why I saidcowmuflage wrote:Yeah cats are werid you'd think not showing symptoms would be good but it's worse than showing them. I only said that becouse some people on this forum tend to go down that route ya know? It's not a good road to walk.
Not showing any signs of being sick at all could be very dangerous, and the cat might even be dying the next day. I know that. They don't look sick, though I know that might not necessarily be a good thing.
I know you didn't say that, but the way you worded yourself could make it sound like it, if people read it the wrong way. I know you didn't mean it though, don't worry. No hard feelings.cowmuflage wrote:I did not say anyone was better than the vet.

I don't necessarily don't know what is best for my babies, but I do know that I want them to be healthy and good, and I am having a second opinion from another vet. Try googling the disease I listed earlier. They have diarrhea, and are slightly dehydrated, that's about it. I can see no bowels trying to escape their behinds, which would be a quite visible symptom if they had that disease. I'm not trying to stir things up here, though. I don't want any flaming across the boards unecessarily.

Re: Rant Thread
A perfect example is first hand experience the person whose course im taking to work as a zookeeper/wrangler experienced where one of his horses, young, healthy, happy showed no signs of worms, they gave all their horses worm medication for that part of the year to keep them healthy, and the next day they discovered worms a meter long crawling through the muck he left behind that was a result of the medicine. If you can afford it safely, definitely try to get the neccessary tests done to be absolutely sure so they can live well.
The blood tests will also pick up anything that might be wrong with them that isnt causing their current symptoms, its a great way to forsee possible complications later in life. One of Lucky's kidneys enzymes are higher % then they should be but is still functional. Hes very happy, healthy, but a cat can change health extremely quickly, in a matter of days or months they can end up to the point where its cruel to keep them alive. Because of the blood test we can keep track of his kidneys enzymes and predict one possible outcome for him as he ages and try to stall its degradation if possible so he can live happy for a longer period of time.
All in all, it never hurts to get a blood test done, its a good thing to include in yearly check-ups to ensure they're growing up healthy.

Re: Rant Thread

They actually didn't find anything at all on the bloodtests, so what I was told is that it was partially perineal hernia, which sounds fishy to me. No worms, no nothing. I think it's strange.
I wish we were able to keep them indoors in the first place though. I won't give up until I know what is wrong, and when I know what I can do to make them better. I usually never bond with animals due to my allergy, but when I do, I have troubles letting go.
Finding a good vet is hard, it's like finding a good doctor or a dentist.

Re: Rant Thread
I must honestly say I don't know, as it was not I who took her to the vet, and I only got third party information. I will have to find the norwegian term for it, and then I will suggest it. The first vet I spoke to, told me to have them dewormed, and the people who own the cats have yet to have it done. I do not know much of cats, and less about diseases and different tests, so that question sort of lit up my brain, and I started thinking forward.CrystalKitten wrote:Just out of curiosity, Miyon.. but have you had a fecal done yet? I would assume so as that's usually one of the very first steps to diagnosing a parasitic problem, but you didn't mention it. It might be something to suggest if all your vets are immediately jumping to some of the more expensive diseases/treatments/tests.
I read up on the fecal to see what they did and so on, and found a link about "Tritrichomonas foetus". I was away for three days at some point, and the litterbox was filled with poo everywhere, and some of it got in the food I think, at least the litter did. If they have been eating each others poo, that parasite would cause the symptoms they have. I wonder if I should suggest that, and make them do a PCR aswell. It might not even be close to what is wrong, however. I wonder if that parasite is visible, or if it is very microscopic.

However I think a separate thread in the offtopic forum should be fine, as long as it has [explicit] in its title.

I very rarely have problems with that myself, so I don't think about that others might find it.. repelling? xD I mean, I watch house while eating, or animal planet or whatever is there at the time.
I didn't want to make a separate thread, because I didn't want to draw too close attention to it, in case anyone near me where to snoop around. I don't want to look like I am talking down on the people I love, but we'll take it to pm's I suppose.
